  1. i've only tried powerpro, sufix and the spiderwire braid (stealth, i think?) and i found the sufix to be the best line of the 3. i've only used it on a baitcaster but i'll be throwing some on a spinning setup before too long to give it a tryout.
  2. looks like you had a good day!
  3. while i appreciate brian's apology, i feel it is not necessary as i never took anything he said as being disrespectful. i didn't see our posts as argumentative and never felt anybody got out of line. i pm'ed him to let him know that but i guess that whole thread got taken the wrong way by everyone else which is why it got shut down. not a big deal, i could see it potentially getting out of hand and it's best to just let it lie. so brian, thank you, but you didn't have to. 8-) tight lines all!
  4. i've been using a revo sx for the last few weeks and i love it. i'm still new to baitcasting but the revo allows for a good learning curve. i just picked up a revo s yesterday so now all my baitcasters are revo's and all my spinning setups are pfluegers. i was looking into getting a patriarch or supreme in lieu of a revo but with the $50 rebate from abu and all the high praise they get, i couldn't pass up the opportunity.
  5. Hey Mike....I'll buy your brother some Bosox season tics!!! Anything to bring back the curse!!! did i say my brother? i meant me... pm me for the address where said season tickets can be sent. thanks carl!
  6. now brian, and anyone else that has served our country in the armed forces, do not take any disrespect by what i have to say, because i honestly, truthfully have the utmost respect for you and what you do, but here's the thing... there is no draft. that means anyone that has to endure those conditions is doing so under their own willpower. yes, those conditions are sh!@ty, but that's what you signed up for, is it not? not since the vietnam war has there been a draft, which means that anyone that has enlisted since then has done so willingly and by their own hand. i'm not trying to get into a ticking match over who has it the worst, but for you military folks to come on here and start rattling off how bad you've got it (as if those of us not in the military don't know) and expect me to just "shut up" because my job is nowhere near as hard, is just downright aggravating. my issue with all of this, is that you signed up for it (and i mean "you" in a figurative sense, in that it encompasses anyone that has enlisted). you enlisted knowing full well what conditions you might be have to endure. whether it's having IED's blow up your hummer, or an enemy sniper taking shots at you, or whatever the case, you knowingly signed up for that. as a person who would never subject themself to that, i have more respect for you than i do for a lot of other members of this country. however, i expect the same respect in return from those that are enlisted. it seems to me that our military personnel have some higher sense of being based on the fact that they are willing to put themselves in harms way for our country. i'm not saying this is the case with brian or anyone else in this thread, but i've seen it and experienced it first hand on more than one occasion. if i were to come on here and tell an enlisted member to "shut up" because he was complaining about how tough he has it (take brian, for example) i would surely receive numerous replies about how disrespectful i was, and i'm sure it would turn into a huge **** storm, i'd end up being called a commie and ousted from the board for life, etc. yet when an enlisted member comes on here and posts up how bad he's got it when i complain about my job, i get 3 or 4 people telling me to "shut up" because "yeah, the military's got it rough!". how do i not deserve the same respect, as a human being, that an enlisted man deserves? because i decided my life is worth living at home with my family and friends, not overseas getting shot at? because i decided NOT to sign up? i don't mean to take away from what our servicemen and women do for our country, but as a human being and a lifelong resident of the united states of america, i deserve (and expect) the same respect as anyone else. and as i said before, i'm not trying to see who's got it the worst or get into it with anyone on here, but when i'm talked down to and told to "shut up" as if i stated my job were the hardest dirtiest job ever when i never said anything of the sort, is just disrespectful.
  7. at least the red sox are getting their losses out of the way early. detroit? seriously?! DETROIT?!?! AT HOME?!?!?!?! the true curse of the red sox is my twin brother, matt. every single red sox game he has ever gone to they have lost. EVERY ONE. i told him he is banned from attending any further sox games, especially playoffs.
  8. or better yet i think i'll just move to a remote african shanty village and live in squalor for the rest of my life, eating bugs and trash and whatever else i can scrounge up, using my clothes as rags to wash myself, then putting them back on to wear for the day.... then at least 18 hours in the back of a M2A3 bradley would be like a vacation, am i right? i'm not trying to say my job is tough, if you read my original post i actually said it's pretty much a piece of cake. i also said that i know there are others out there that have it far worse than i ever will. i was merely trying to state that in my current occupational situation, i am not happy. continue on with your "the army will toughen you up" speeches though, you guys can keep that stuff. i mean no disrespect by that, either. the army is something that i could never do, but i have the highest respect for those that can.
  9. i got a spool of 12lb from ronnie and spooled up my baitcasters with it. i love the stuff, it's even better than the regular yo-zuri hybrid. i'm gonna have to make a trip to cabela's to get some 6lb for my spinning setups now.
  10. that's exactly it, i hate the people. not the ones i work with, they're ok for the most part, but i deal directly with the public and that's the part i can't stand. it's not even that my job is hard, i stand behind a counter on a computer all day, it's just that i hate being here. oh, and i make crap for money. i know there's much worse out there, but there's much better, as well. i started looking on careerbuilder.com today, luckily my resume is up to date and i've got a couple letters of recommendation from previous employers. i've never left a job on bad terms and all my previous bosses have always said "if you ever need a good word, or even your job back, let me know" so that's always good.
  11. Anyone wanna trade jobs? Redline? Risk kid? Bueller? I need a new occupation. I've grown extremely tired of my current job and loathe every second I spend while at work. BassResource takes up a good portion of my time during the day, but that's only because I guerrilla-surf when the boss isn't looking. The rest of my work day is spent finding new ways to hate my job even more. I need to get back outside. I used to be a land surveyor, and I also painted houses for two years, and both those jobs were rad because I got to be outside all the time. F this being inside all day crap. Part of the reason I love fishing so much is because I'm outside enjoying nature. I'm headin back to nature. /end rant.
  12. hmmmm... i just sent mine out last week, guess i'll have to wait and see.
  13. the sale at the shop ends today. the abu/fenwick/allstar rebate is still in effect until the end of the month, i believe.
  14. i dip my trailers in JJ's Magic and if i don't take them off and seal them back in a bag, everything within 30 feet of that trailer takes on an overpowering garlic scent. so yeah i take my trailers off every time haha.
  15. mine won't be in until friday, i'm itchin to use it.
  16. i've taken advantage of that deal twice already! got a revo s and a revo sx and a fenwick hmx and fenwick elite tech. still waiting on the s to come in, they had to special order a lefty for me. the best part was my local shop had a sale going when i bought the s and elite tech, 25% off all rods and 20% off all reels. that brings the price of that combo to $188 after the sale discount and the $50 rebate. less than the price of just the rod!
  17. i've been slacking, sorry guys! glenn i'll get that cd out to you asap.
  18. tbear, come on down to the quabbin on may 10th and we'll get you set up. we should have enough guys coming down that you can share a boat with someone.
  19. not a bad way to start off the year. nice hat, too!
  20. i'll be putting in at gate 43, but if anyone is putting in at 31 it's easy enough to meet up out on the water. gate 43 is probably the closest for you RI and CT guys, as well. if anyone is bringing their own boat and has an open seat, post up and let us know. also, if anyone's planning on renting post up saying so, that way we can pair off and split rental/launch costs.
  21. i'm honestly not sure. check that link i posted earlier, or you might have to call to find out if you can't find the info there. bassnajr, of course you're welcome to come up! anyone still interested in going, post up in the other thread i started so we can get a head count of who's going, who needs a boat, who's bringing a boat, etc.
  22. oh yeah, russ, i think providence might be short a few thousand pounds after ronnie left. the back of the bass bus looked like it was sitting awfully low, and there was a strange orange glow coming from the windows as he drove off. ronnie, care to explain?
