  1. I use a weighted hook and slow yo-yo like retrieve. Reel, pause, slight tug, reel, repeat. The bass wack them pretty good on the fall. Not all brands fall the same on the pause, you'll need to try a few and see what works. Some drop like a rock, other actuall swim down.
  2. Awesome !! What did he catch it on ???
  3. Awesome pics! By the way... dad's are supposed to come in last My son bets me a dollar everytime we go fishing on who will catch the biggest fish. He wins everytime
  4. Last week I took the kids to a pond across the street. My son wanted to use a net to catch minnows and my daughter brought her Barbie pole. I was tossing out a saber tail bug that had lost one of its tails but my daughter insisted that she use it. I dug out a lead jig head and rigged it up for her. Long story short my son grabs the barbie pole and tosses it out. BAM, he pull in a 3lb 11 oz bass. Now my daughter want her pole back. After about three failed attempts to get a good cast she get one out about 20 feet. BAM, she has one. The drag on the Barbie pole won't even hold the fish. We finally get it in. 4 lbs 5 oz bass. Needless to say the kids are even more fired up about fishing now. We went on to catch about 10 fish over 2 lbs and a snapping turtle. The smiles on their faces says it all. Here are my fishing buddies and their catches. BTW, son is 6, daughter is 3. The days big fish goes to my daugher My son finished second Dad came in last
  5. I'm sure I'm one of the few that has more guitars than rods and reels Here is a pic of my little collection from last winter. Some of the guitar come and go, so the group has some changes. The core remains the same. I don't let go of too many after I have them. The drum set is an acoustic set that I converted to electronic. These shots were taken in my little home studio. The wall Pile o guitars Same pile new angle The entire group
  6. My vote is call the local rescue groups. You can find a resuce for about any type of breed. Many time they have dogs that are a year or two old and you can really see their personality, something you cannot do with a puppy, no matter what breeder you use. Pure breds also have a much higher heath issue rate than a dog with just a little mix. Do what you feel is right but a dog with papers is no better than a dog with out.
  7. I'm using the Bass Magic baits. I have no complaints. You get 5 baits for $5.99. They are on sale around here at most places.
  8. EDITED I'm not sure there is a new one. All the L&T rods I have seen are purple/ silver.
  9. I asked the same question when I was looking for a frog rod. I could not find the l&t frog rod locally. Most people said there would be little difference. All I can tell you is I love the rod and I don't think you can wrong with either. BTW, I bought a second one I likes it so much. Frog on one, flipping with the other.
  10. The Daiwa L&T series are my favorite rods. I have not used the frog rod but I have the TL-76T-5FB and I throw frogs on it. I'm not the most experienced guy here but do tend to have gear churn and my L&T rods have stayed.
  11. Cabelas XML 5'6" Med baitcaster. I use this rod the most of any I have. I'm a bank fisherman so the short rod works well for me.

I was a big time r/c guy about 6 years ago. Just have not had time the last few to get back into it. I love the nitro planes. Everything I see around now is electric. Still have my planes, I'll dig up some pics.
  13. I'm a guitar player. Rock and Roll !!!
  14. What lake was it ??? I'm local to you guys and I'm just curious.
  15. I'm not a RHCP fan but they are a tight band and are spot on musically. I'm a Van Halen nut but I like all kinds of bands. Getting into Clutch lately !!
  16. I have 5 XML rods ( 4 bait casters and 1 spinning ). They are great rods. Killer deal if you can get them on sale. They have changed the reel seat for 2008. It is slightly different. All mine are 2007 models. My XML is my favorite spinning rod by far. I even bought a 5'6" casting rod so I can keep it in my truck. I use it all the time when I fish from the bank. I'm down to two types of baitcasters. XML and Diawa L&T. As stated above the warranty is excellent.
  17. It is a flat bottom. I saw that trolling motor at Cabelas. I need to see how it mounts. Does minn kota make a quick release type mount ?? I would like to be able to remove the trolling motor for the days I'm hauling it in my truck. Still looking for opinions on the 'wire control" models. thanks.
  18. I just started using traps this years and I'm really digging them. Caught a bunch of fish on traps this spring so far. FYI, I fish 90% time in ponds and small lakes from the shore. I like traps because a lot of ponds I fish have quite a bit of grass/moss on the bottom. I can get the trap just tick the grass when a crankbait just digs into the slop. My fav so far is the Berkley Frenzy rattr. They are 2.49 have good hooks and good colors. I find orange to be a killer color in small lakes and ponds.
  19. I'm working on my on boat conversion ( 12 footer ) and I'm ready for the trolling motor. I don't know squat about trolling motors. I want to mount it up front and I want a foot control. Any opinions on these two. This one would be easy to mount. Is it possible to mount this one on the bow ?? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_97961?cm_mmc=froogle-_-200-2-1-_--1-_-38-531-958-00&hvarAID=froogle&mr:trackingCode=F44DACBE-6F02-DD11-AA92-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA or This one. Is the 'steer by wire' reliable ?? Most of the bow mounts need two much surface area, this one seems to have a small mount. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5823434 Other suggestions welcome.
  20. Power bar, Jerky of some kind w/green tea or gatorade type drink. I can't do pop when it is hot.
  21. Great job on the guitar !!! Nice to see other guitar players here. I'll post some of mine some day.......
  22. I'm looking to do the same thing. Cabelas has a 40# foot control bow mount TM for 299 this week. I have seen several people put a small deck up front on their jon boats to act as a platform for the tm. Something like this is what I'm thinking. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1203395006/10
  23. Has anyone use one of these. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat602025-cat21284-cat21402&rid=&indexId=cat21402&navAction=push&masterpathid=&navCount=2&parentType=index&parentId=cat21402&id=0000844 I have a 12' jon boat that I load in the back of a truck. I thought something like this might make it less likley I would break something in the loading/unloading process. Thought I could make a power panel so I could just plug in the sonar. thanks -Myke
  24. Elrond here. I was hoping for Aragorn. Can you tell I like LOTR.............
