  1. Mine are soft and hollow I have been using them. I have not had a chance to use the 5.5 or 6.5 but the 4.5 is working great in the ponds I fish. I liked them so much I bought about 10 packs.
  2. I looked at this reel recently and decided to go with the Cabelas Prodigy. It was $64 and felt more solid. I have never used the ZX but I can say I'm very happy with the Prodigy.
  3. Has anyone used one. What is your preferred way to fish it. Cabelas had a sale so I picked a few packs. Looked like an extra long finesse worm, plus the bait monkey was with me.
  4. Lucky strike finesse work most of last year. Started using Berkley Power minnows end of last year with success.
  5. He was one of the guys I was pulling for too. On a different note it was interesting seeing the pressure get to him at the end. You see it in golf, football, baseball etc all the time. Great coverage by ESPN let me see it from a new perspective ( for me ). It added a whole new level of the intensity to the sport that some may never have seen. Not just a bunch of mooks out fishing like some think
  6. I came across the l&t by accident. I was looking to upgrade my starter setup and I found a few in the bargain cave at Cabelas. I bought one that day and used later that afternoon. Needless to say I went back and picked up the other two the next morning. I'm amazed at how light they are for the price. Just like the_natural said they have great handles and great backbones.
  7. I have a pretty new two piece in my trunk and I notice little diiference in feel but the day will come when it starts comming aparts on casts. When I was younger it would drive me nuts. A couple times a day the end section would launch off my rod into the water.
  8. Not on your list but I have a Cabelas Prodigy ( made by daiwa ). I put it on a rod I carry in my trunk for fishing emergencies : I have been very plaesed with it. It was $64.
  9. What a kool project boat. I hope I can find one like that some day. Good luck and keep us posted !!!!
  10. I use Cabelas XML rods and love them. I have no complaints about them and the warranty is excellent. I also have a Cabelas Prodigy baitcaster and Spinning reel. I bought them last fall so they have had limited use but so far so good. I have one BPS rod. It is a Woo Daves drop shot and I like it alot but I have nothing to compare it too.
  11. Ok you guy have convinced me to look at a metal boat instead of a plastic boat. Every jon boat I find is gone before I can get to it. In my quest for a jon boat I ran across this boat. 1983 Bass Tracker III, 16 foot, 40 HP Mercury, 36lb thrust, trolling motor, live well. I think I can get it for about $1500 w/trailer. Looks to be in good shape. Stored inside. I would guess I could easily wrap that much money up in a jon boat if I decided to do any mods to it. Anything about the bass tracker s III that I should know. bas or good. thanks again --Myke
  12. Check out my post above. They are 8/0 hooks and work great on the 5.5 baits. It is not my auction, I just found it on ebay.
  13. Those look nice. I bought some off ebay this week tht are custom made for the Lucky Strike 5.5 bass magic baits. http://cgi.ebay.com/Weighted-swimbait-hooks-8-0-Basstrix-Bass-Magic_W0QQitemZ150208482690QQihZ005QQcategoryZ31691QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  14. I'm a big fan of the XML rods. I have several and plan on adding a few more. They are light ( not super light ) and built well with a great warranty. BTW, my local Cabela's has them in store this week for 59.99. AT that price they can't be beat !!!!
  15. thanks for the replies. What am I looking for in an aluminium boat. Can I still get one to fit in a truck or will I need a trailer. Is there certain width I need for stability. Again I have no experience in a boat that did not have sails so this is all new to me.
  16. I'm looking to buy a small plastic bass boat for my 6 year old son and I to use on pond/small lakes. I like the Pelican Rhino http://www.directboats.com/20perh10fibo.html and the Bass Hound http://www.directboats.com/basstender102.html One is a pontoon type the other more traditional boat like. Which would be more stable ?? Can you stand and pitch in either ?? Never have been on either type so thanks for your thoughts. Any other suggestions. thanks --Myke
  17. Nice little boat Matt 5.0. What kind is it ?? I'm looking for a small boat.
  18. Everyone had great advice on htis thread !!! My kids will last about an hour unless the fish are really biting. My son just turned 6 this week my daughter is 3. They are both fishing nuts. Neither has any issues with live bait, they both like minnows and worms. Also neither of them want anything to do with a bobber. My son is all about the bass. He uses cranks and paddle tail swimbaits and does a great job. My daughter loves her worms. Bubble gum colored worms with a small pegged bullet weight and she is all set. Sometime I can get her to use real worms or bread and catch some bluegill but most of the time she wants to cast and crank with boys.
  19. I use this http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_51596?cmCat=CROSSSELL&cmid=PP_P0_2 I have great luck with these worms. I even use the small worms from the Luck e strike shakey head kit.
  20. The problem I found with this bag is that if you set in on the floor of your boat, and have anything in that front flap, the bottom box won't slide out. You have to tilt the whole bag back to get the bottom box out. Doesn't sound like much, but it was a really pain in the butt. I found myself placing a rolled up towl underneath the front edge of the bag so the front flap would fall out of the way of the bottom box. Then, the other problem arises. The front flap is where the elastic bands are to hold bottles of scents. Unless you take the bottles out, laying the flap down lays the bottles down, or lay the bottles top-down. Not a good idea if there is the slightest leak. I used to carry a bottle of Bactine in my bag for the inevitable line-cuts and hook-sticks. Half the bottle leaked out before I relalized it was leaking. I used that bag for about a year then gave it away. I replaced it with a Gander Mountain/Flambeau bag that looks like a big duffle and holds about 10 370 boxes. The top opens like that Cabelas bag. I have several in different sizes for different lures. I had the same issue. Something was always in the way of the bottom box getting out. I bought the Okeechobee fats bags at WalMart. 39.99 with 8 boxes. Great bag !!!
  21. I just finished reading Basing with the Pros. It has a different pro and presentation each chapter. It was a good read but the first few chapters were very basic stuff about fishing in general but the rest of the book was good.
  22. I think it is .47 and .97. This summer Dick had 50% off all clearence tackle. I was buying storm, bandit and norman cranks for around a buck or less. I will be hitting Dick's today at lunch. I have 3 dicks within a 20 mile radius, including one super store. Thay all have a little different selection.
  23. I'll have my MU gear on when I show up so you all will know who I am ;D BTW, got snowed out today trying to go see the boat I want. Its not much, '78 procraft that has been rebuilt from the 'ground' up with a 50 hp merc. Fits my boating experience, I have never had a boat that didn't have sails
  24. Can't seem to get the search to work so I thought I'd try a post. Any opinions on this reel. Which reel is it modeled after ?? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0043164121436a&type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=prodigy&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=prodigy&noImage=0 Looking for something to put on my latest bargain cave find. thx
  25. I'm a Missouri guy but I maybe interested, if you will have me. I'm looking to get my first bass boat this winter and I'll be looking to expand my horizons after being shore bound for my entire life
