  1. Old news, but still a great story.
  2. 6'0", 170lbs.
  3. If you are fishing big water buy the glass boat.
  4. All you guys that go through these boats are amazing to me. I put a transom in a 1988 Skeeter Starfire and recarpet and I will never, ever do it again. Too much work for me. Enjoy the boat. Looks like it will be nice.
  5. It is not a bad job to just replace a section. Cut out the spot, lay in the new and glass it in. Do not use treated material if you are glassing. Fiberglas has a bad habit of not adhering to it. Use regular plywood and glass it up. You will be fine.
  6. You have asked out a 400lb divorcee with six kids because her ex husband left her a new Ranger Comanche with a 250 Yahama and a new F350 Ford truck.
  7. Great idea; however, your idea of fishing every weekend until the tournament might not be the best use of your time. Make a few trips to learn the lay of the lake so you will know how to navigate the water. Any lessons you learn now will be of little help for May. If you like fishing the lake that well go ahead and fish it every weekend, but don't game plan for May on what you learn now. the fish are going to be going through pre spawn, spawn, and post spawn. What you should look for are areas that fish to your strengths and try to find the ditches, grass, and drops. This is what will help you down the road. If it is a large lake pick an area and try top learn as much as you can about an area. If it does not produce start on another. Is the lake a highland lake, resovier, or river lake? this will determine your choices and if it was me I would try to spend most of my time the two weeks just before the tournament to figure out what is going on.Good luck.
  8. Bass Pro Shops in Garland Texas is having the first Battle of the Texas Bass Clubs tournament on lake Ray Hubbard on Saturday February 23, 2008. Open to any Texas bass club that would like to fish. Our club is entered with 25 members at this time and it looks like it is going to be fun. BPS will have several of their pros available Thursday and Friday for seminars and each entrant will be given a 10% discount card to be used at any BPS. As of last week over 50 of BPS vendors had said they will set up their booths and offer their services. It will be a live drive through weighin in the BPS parking lot. If any clubs are interested let me know and I will forward you the information. I am not affiliated in any way with this tournament or BPS, just thought a few more clubs might be interested in fishing.

Well, I am back again after another fusion and another round of Botox. Long Mike, if you read this I am considering cancelling the road trip to Guntersville. I have a neck brace back on and not sure when it is coming off. Pain back in arm and neck. Going to give it several more weeks before I make the final decision.
  10. Houston city council has approved the use of electric fences for business owners to help control their property. They will require warning signs, certain limits on voltage, and an outer fence to seperate the two in order to keep anyone from accidently coming in contact. Just another reason to learn the english language, and to keep your hands off other people's property. I really was hoping they would approve trained snipers for the rooftops. I imagine it will only be a problem for the same individuals that continue to rip off the honest people of this country. Now if we can just have the ability to adjust the voltage it may be a deterrence...Maybe...
  11. I don't know about the rest on this site, but I have enough problems without having to put up with someone like him. Glad he is history. Hopefully he does not get the chance to scam to many more.

Just get out of line and see what happens...
  13. Welcome aboard...Good luck with the bonding issue. I've been through it and it takes a lot of work on both sides.
  14. That timber on Fork just does not like a lower unit. There are many other creeks on that lake that will eat up your rig. Williams creek being one, watch that cleared cut between the north point and the island. There is one stumb in 18 feet that is a killer. Thankfully I was on a hard idle when I found it.
  15. Years ago on Lake Palestine 7:30am 19* air temps. Kicked the trolling motor around to the right, hit a stump, and walked right out of the boat. Had a change of clothes. While I was drying off with nothing on another boat that was close by came over to offer assistance. Standing there with nothing on and only a towl in my hand I asked the boaters if they had an extra heavy shirt I could borrow. They informed me that nothing they had would fit me as all they had were women's sizes. Yep, it was two ladies all bumdled up fishing the same tournament. Naturally they weighed in in a flight earlier than mine. I caught all kinds of ribbing when I got to the weighin stage. Thankfully there were no pictures being passed around. We all had a good laugh though.
  16. Bass Club tournament on Toledo Bend two weeks ago today. First fish weighed exactly 4.00 and was caught on a jig on a grass line in 14 ft. of water.
  17. I use them. It is important that you understand that they are an aide only. Many times points of navagation have floated from their original location so be careful when navagating as they can be off, sometimes a lot.
  18. First things first. good for you for wanting something and expressing an intrest. Second, if this is an example of your writing skills, you will need someone that knows how to build a paragraph, the correct usage of plurals, pronouns, and composing legible, defined sentences. Please do not take offense. You need to know that correctly communicating with an individual or company is the most important step in opening doors. Good luck
  19. I keep a library of maps from every lake I have fished for the last 35 years. That is one thing I will not loan or sell.
  20. Congratulations... It makes no difference if it is a lake like you are used to fishing or not. Get a map and spend lots of time studying it. Pick out areas that will correspond to the types of water you are comfortable fishing. There will be areas that will allow you to fish to your strengths. Find them. Do not try to learn the entire lake. Pick a section (Upper, mid, Lower) and spend your time in one area instead of running up and down the lake. I like to photocopy an area of a lake and then trace off the contour lines with a pen. It is amazing what you will notice doing this. You will find little areas that you will overlook when you just stare at a map. I have traced off areas as many as 15 times finding things each time I retrace it. In fact I make a point to trace one at least five times before moving on to the next location. I will also color code the map with my preferences for my on reference. I begin by tracing the water line and then coloring it in green. If I plan to fish 8-12 ft of water I will usually color it in yellow(Just my preference) as this will allow me a quick glance to pick out sharp drops or flats. Creeks are highlighted in red(Again my preference). Good luck and I hope this helps.
  21. Check the salvage yards in Jonesboro. There are several. If they do not have it ask them to try to locate on their parts locator hot line. They have them and can find you one if they put their mind to it. It can be shipped to you or to their door.
  22. X2...Also, do not get in a hurry, get your education, and take the time to work your way up. Do not worry about sponserships, they will come as you advance through the ranks. As much time on the water as you can devote. Listen and learn
  23. Fish tend to scatter and roam when it is overcast. Get in an area you have caught them when the sun is out, back off a little, put the trolling motor on high, use a search bait, and start covering lots of water. When you get bit, slow down and fish the area well. Search baits such as crankbaits, rattletraps, then plastics to pick off the fish that are not as aggressive.
