  1. You might try not to stick your fish on practice days. Check a spot and get the heck away from it until it counts. Been working for me a long time.
  2. It's about time. Yall are just getting a dose of everything I warned my ag friends about. Just one other thing to say...ROLL TIDE!
  3. Question? Do you have a sister? I have a wife that will soon need replacing. If you and your husband are serious just let me know. I live in Houston. I will be happy to take the both of you to Lake Conroe or Sam Rayburn and help you. I have a guide license and have been tournament fishing for years. I love to teach. I will furnish the boat, gas, and tackle if need be(I will be going anyway). I usually fish by myself to keep any information from getting out, but have no problem taking the both of you. Just let me know. Good luck and contact me when you get back if interested. Jack
  4. Speaking of broken line. Saturday on Toledo Bend fishing a club tournament. Watermelon/red baby brushhog with 15 lb. big game. Fishing a grass bed, got bit, set the hook and broke the line. Sat down in the boat to retie and a 10in. bass surfaced trying to get rid of that brushhog. Wasn't so disappointed after that. I'm 58 and still going.
  5. It must be a spotted goby...LOL
  6. I am looking for the Sexy Shad color. Strike King's color number is 590 and Bass Pro Shop color code is 90. Any one know the whereabouts of any other than EBAY? Thanks
  7. I prefer slow and agressive with a jig. I will however adapt to what ever the conditions dictate. I am comfortable with most anything that it takes to compete. I wil have at least a dozen rods riged with different things during a practice period. Tournament day is not the time to be looking for fish and types of lures.
  8. It is all about time on the water, learning from each person you fish with, learning from your mistakes. Keep a log and remember you will always learn more on the tough days. You will need to spend time prefishing the water. Stay away from the dock talk. Very little you hear will help you. Develope a game plan from your prefishing, but do not be afraid to deviate if you feel you need to make a change. One of the hardest things for new fisherman to learn is if they are really on the fish or a real pattern. If you catch a couple in one area try to find another area or two like it to see if they hold fish. When you catch a fish or two do not leave. Change your casting angle and lures to see if there are more. Fish a spot and try to learn as much as you can about the area. There is usually a sweet spot on a point or hump that will hold a concetration of larger fish.
  9. Congratulations. What impressed me more was that you were willing to make a change. You will always learn more on the tough days. Good job!
  10. What do you charge for rooms? I want a week's worth...
  11. Whichever unit you buy PLEASE take it off of automatic and run it in the manuel mode. Without it you are not getting anywhere near what the unit can do for you. Read your manuel several times, get out on the water and run across several places that you are familiar with. If you happen to buy a hummingbird I can send you some information that will explain what you are seeing on your screen. Good luck.
  12. If the stringers in that Stratos have never been replaced you can probably suck every bit of the wood out with a vaccum. As far as the transom goes grab the prop and see if you can lift up and move the motor forward. Also look inside and see if there is any leakage(dark areas around the mounting bolts). If so, plan on a transom replacement soon. If done by a reputible shop it will cost you more than you are paying for the boat.
