  1. Early in life I set NHRA and IHRA records with a drag car. The difference in a street racer and a real racer are: syspension, gear & tire. Anyone can drop a high HP motor in any car. If it will not hookup it ain't going to ET. I firmly believe you can make a pissant pull a freight train with enough gear and tire.
  2. I buy bulk. If I fish a combination any at all during the day it gets respooled before the next day.
  3. Your problem is you are casting the lure. IF YOU ARE GOING TO FISH HEAVY GRASS FISH IT VERTICAL. Period!!!
  4. You have problems. Let me know when you are having a fire sale. I am just like you. Buy lots of things that I probably will never use. I probably spend about 100.00-150.00 a month though. Then you have gas, oil, hotel, entry fees, insurance, and the hot lures on the lake you happen to be fishing that week. Come to think of it I spend a lot more than I thought. Thanks, for making me take account.
  5. You are severly limiting yourself by fishing the bait only one way. Most of my better spinnerbait fish have been caught slowrolling a larger blade in deeper water. Run it into anything you can during the retrieve and drop it like a rock around cover. I catch many more on the blade this way. Seldom do I fish it as you are describing except spring and low light conditions.
  6. If you really want to learn to fish a jig go and leave everything else at home. I tried it years ago and it forced me to learn or go to the house. It is going to really aggravate you learning to fish the grass. Just stay with it and fish for the 4-5 bites you will get. It is hard for a lot of fishermen to learn to fish vertical, but it will be required in the grass. Try to learn to fish braid as this will allow a firmer hookset and the braid will cut through the grass as you are fighting a fish a lot better than mono.
  7. Catt, you are the man. Great info for those that are not familiar with the correct jig and the grass. Good post
  8. Oldham jigs 3/8 -1 1/4oz depending on the thickness of the grass.
  9. Slow and close to cover
  10. Mines been in the water and I am still using it.
  11. Try to figure out what made the big fish bite and duplicate if possible. I have lost to many to let it bother me for long. Enjoy the ones you catch.
  12. The first bass I ever caught was on a Heddon Sonic orange with black lightning bolts. Also fished a Lazy Ike, Sputterfuss, and a rigged worm with a spinner in the front. Bet a lot on here have no idea what some of these are. Oops, also a Lucky 13 by Heddon. Not a lot of choices back then.
  13. I think this comes up about every three days. I agree completely with Cart7

P_Rock, tried to fish today but did not last but 5 hrs. Not over the injections I guess. Your promised information is in the mail.

Amen. I guess that's why they call it practicing medicine.
  16. Did some one say PACMAN?

LBH, you asked me the other day if treatment is painful for my dystonia. I had my botox injections this morning. It involved injecting each muscle in several locations from up behind each ear all the way down both sides of my neck and out through the top of my rt. shoulder. Not sure how many times they stuck me but the bad part is when they inject the fluid. You must fire each muscle so they do not hit an artery or deep vein. The side effects are possibly not being able to swallow until the shot wears off(usually 3 months), flu like systems for several days, increased pain, dry mouth, and I forgot to mention a chance of death. So far I have not had any real bad side effects except the dry mouth. Can't turn my head for a couple of days also. The pain sucks but hopefully it will get better. I am just going to suck it up and try to fish by Monday. They also asked me if they could inject the rt. shoulder joint. Said it was expermintal and that they had not done anyone in Texas. She has been injecting some pro bull rider's knee and it had worked well for him. I let her do it, not sure if it will work but there is no pain now.

P_Rock, one of my buddies came home on a Thursday from Nam. A bunch of us went out drinking that night. Several of us crawled out of his 67 Chevelle about 2:00am and watched him roll it over about 60 yards from us. Threw him out the driver's window and we burried him on that Monday. Not a scratch in Nam. Do not know why we were not involved either. Just the luck of the draw.
  19. I spoke with Barbara at Falcon Lake Tackle yesterday afternoon and they knew nothing about that 17.8 from the big A. You would think they would have heard about it since Falcon is right there. Believe it when I see the pics.
  20. Quick story. My partner and I fished years ago on Palestine, standing on the front throwing the same thing. Score him 5 at 27.05, me 2 @ 6.09. Now that's a butt kicking. Just glad we were on the same team.
  21. Glenn you are going to wait a while. College football rules. Rammer Jammer, etc. Roll Tide!
  22. Catt, you are right about McNeese State. They always punish the team across the line . I grew up in Nacogdoches and my mother worked at Stephen F Austin University for 31 years so I have to pull for them. By the way their record this year is 0-7. They will probably finish 0-11. They are real bad.
  23. I love to cast it up on a submerged road bed and bounce it off.
