  1. Not on purpose unless i happen to run across a big one locked on. Otherwise I stay away. Most of you are bed fishing without even knowing it. Those fish you are catching out in 5-10' of water are many times on the bed and you just happen to drag a lure across it.
  2. Yes Catt, and when we didn't have one went to the neighbors house. I bet a few (Lot) never remember not having a tv
  3. No, but the guy that runs the little store on the road out of rusk to Palestine is a local guide. sorry, I can't remember the hwy number, but ask anyone how to go to Madelle and the little store about three miles out on the left is his. He is open every day except sunday.
  4. Texas titles boat and motor. State requires you to tag the trailer to.
  5. Fish it vertical or with a frog, trap, or some other topwater selection. Look for the points, drains, humps, holes, or any other difference. If it mats just tie on a 1/0 oz. - 1 1/2oz. jig, fish it vertical to. You'll know pretty quick if there are any fish there. good luck
  6. There it is X3, I hope this doesn't turn into the thread that i got beat up on a couple of years ago about the Hydrogen Proxide. I never just add ice. I freeze bottles and use them instead. That way nothing in the city water gets in on the livewell water.
  7. I'll be there Thursday evening.
  8. Lake Jacksonville. good lake about 15 miles from rusk. loaded with docks and big bass.
  9. Get in a big parking lot and practice, pratice, pratice.
  10. Won a tournament Saturday. Fish were on the points in 2' of water on a white spinnerbait (3/8). They would not, i repeat, would not touch a plastic. That's from everyone at weighin. I could not get a bite on it either. Fished up Ayish Bayou out of San Augustine Park. Saw tons of beds with not one fish on them. They are pretty much done up lake. Not one fish with eggs weighed by anyone. Caught my two best fish back to back at 8:10am, off a point. Next keeper came at 9:05, fourth at 12:03, and number five at 3:03pm. Big females on beds happened about three weeks ago and the last full moon. You have missed most. there are still a few way down lake, but they are basically done. Good luck
  11. X2, love those coosa river spotted bass.
  12. 12 Spot? Now I want to see the tackle that was able to handle it. Hell the strike should have broken his arm or wrist. He's lucky the dang thing didn't beat holes in the bottom of the boat. I want a pic.
  13. water off color. fish tight to cover with spinnerbaits, small cranks, and plastics. fish north if all the major creeks down south are full(And they usually are). most fish are caught less than 10' of water. Fishing is surprisingly good. You can pop a 20# sack if you spend enough time and figure them out. FYI, make sure your insurance is up to date. you're gonna need it. Don't trust the markers above the 190 bridge. There is a huge sawed stump 200-300 yards north of the bridge inside the markers and that's the first of many. It will be on your right going north. First time I saw it a bird was sitting on it. Made the hair stand up on my neck. I hate that lake. That's the reason BASS will never return. Last tournament there so many boats destroyed they could not find enough replacements. On a lighter note there was a SAL caught there about three weeks ago. Weighed 13 and change.
  14. X2 Tin. Suggestion, throw the net over the livewell opening. It helps.
  15. Bulb may be losing prime. Do you have to keep pumping it up to get it to start when you get to the river? Probably in the fuel delivery. What kind of tank do you have? Is it a 6 gallon removable tank? Can it be something as simple as opening the vent on the gas tank? Just throwing some questions out there to check. Check the above and then move on to the filters and fuel pump. Let us know.
  16. Dan, bernie said we would break out an air mattress if we had to, but you are welcome to stay with us at his home. five minutes from the Monterrey Park ramp and ten minutes from jackson hill, five minutes from cassel boykin ramp. He has a brand new set of lighted, locking boat stalls that we can park in and keep everything out of the weather. He has not even started leasing them yet, but they are ready to go. If push comes to shove, another friend closed on a lake house last week at Cassel Boykin park. I will have a set of keys on wednesday so we are good to go. jack
  17. It's too late if you are waiting until you get to the lake to try to figure things out. you should study a set of maps, get water and weather information several days in advance, and try to get any other lake nuisances before you ever leave the house. good luck
  18. Dan we have room in zavalla if you are interested.
  19. If it's a Lowrance it is about 4-5" across, round with a flat bottom. Top is shaped like a petri dish turned upside down. go to the Lowrance site and you can eyeball one. BPS list them with pics also.
  20. Very well said. Spot on. Rains have more to do with it than any other thing. Flooded new growth just starts the cycle over again. Lakes go through cycles. It is all very normal.
  21. i will be there. Staying at my buddy's home in Zavalla.
  22. Someone is going to be very happy shortly. I hope it's me this weekend. I wouldn't put any money on it though. Congratulations to the lucky angler. Great fish. Hope it survives, but doesn't sound promising. I hope #500 sets the state record. That 18.18 has lasted long enough.
  23. Cable is probably going bad. You can try but I never had much luck freeing those old cables up. Someone here may have a solution that works though. There are outlets that still stock cables for a few of the older more popular models. Good luck
  24. What unit and what antenna? Lowrance makes an adapter(I have an extra) to use several antennas for several different units. You can't use a humminbird on a Lowrance though(Well if your savy enough you can make anything fit everything if you try I guess).
