  1. Great point. I just went through a 5,000.00 total rebuild(Actually it was 5,349.00 if you want to count the parts for the lower unit), and I want no hassel if something happens. Problem is I'm the one that did the build so I ain't looking to chew my own A** out.
  2. Good job. Sounds like ya'll did a lot better than most. At least you caught some fish. That's more than a lot could say about their trips. The white blade makes sense to, I just couldn't get them to offer at it though. Jack
  3. I have always run the manufacturer's recommended oil in my boat. I'm sure there are cheaper brands that will do the job, but i am just a little more comfortable staying with the recommended oil. JMO
  4. That was a very good day. All the reports i got was fishing was extremely tough. Makes sense about the 8-10 ft of water. That's where my two best fish came from. you would have finished second in our club tournament. Not bad at all considering the way our day went.
  5. ok, just heard back from Dan and he will have his boat.
  6. Well guys we need a few more boats. Wesley contacted me last night and he is boatless. I was to fish with Dan. We both have boats. I sent Dan a pm and asked him if he could use his boat. The last thing we need or want is someone that wants to fish and has no ride. Let's try to get a count of people with boats and without and try to get them paired up. I have mine Dan has a boat. Anyone else with a boat chime in and anyone without let me know so we can pair up. Jack 281 224-8853
  7. i'm sorry to hear that. hopefully you can make it.
  8. 2 fish yesterday on a Fluke, 5-6' water, scattered coontail. Didn't get a hook in a couple bank runners in the bushes on a blk/blu tube jig. Fished from 0830 - 1230. On the porch today for sure, it's plum nasty out there. I hope my "catching" improves tomorrow and the rest of the week, it's not been real kind to me this year so far. Well, at least i know it was not just me. I worked my a** off for that limit i had that weighed 14.54. Again, not sure how I did it. Just kept moving and got lucky enough to get those five bites. I only caught three other non keepers. Talked to a guy that had two keepers all day on a blade, but we could not get bit on one. I caught my first fish on the Senko at 7:00am, and the rest were on that little crank bait all between 11:00 and noon. One of the toughest days i've had over there in a while. Jack
  9. Wesley, did you fish saturday? Was it tough on you to? Please let me know. Jack
  10. I fished our club tournament Saturday and it was tough. The day, at least the first half was beautiful. I ended up at my spot off Carrice creek and my coangler and I both caught a two pounder pretty quick. For some reason they just shut off and would not hit anything . It was not just us either. We talked to a lot of boats around us and not one had over two keepers. We were in the back of a pocket about 11:00 and my coangler picked up a small crank bait and caught a small non keeper up on the inside grass line. I started throwing a LC 1.5 and immediately caught two keepers. We moved out on the point(Bare clay) out about 8' of water in the front of the pocket and I caught a 4.13 and a 5.28 on that little crankbait. It was all over by the time the front and rain hit at 1:00. I thought sure that would turn them on,but we never had another bite. I had the only limit at weighin and had the big bass. My weight was nine pounds ahead of second place. I want to know if anyone else struggled Saturday. Everyone was up beating the bushes and not catching any fish. Was it different down lake? Let me know. Went to Sam Rayburn Friday(I know, I was supposed to be on Toledo), and that lake is on fire. Hit the water at 3:00 and had a 7.43 flipping a watermellon/red baby brushhog at 3:20, a 4.24 at 3:47. Water was up in the buckbrush and the best bite was where you found at least four ft. of water in the bushes and off the side of a point. Jack FYI, I never put much of a pattern together, just kinda wandered into the several larger fish I caught. My co angler only had the one fish. Great example why you need more that a day of prefishing to set up some working patterns.
  11. One other thing. It's a whole different story when you put a load on the motor. I'm betting that an electrical piece is slowly over heating or you have a fuel delivery problem. It may take a diagnostic machine to successfully track it down. Good luck. Jack
  12. Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. I would start with the bulb. Sounds like it may be losing it's prime. Next time it happens check to see if the bulb has softened. Pump it back up and see if it will continue to run. If so, change it out. Also could be an electrical piece that may be slowly overheating. If it runs after a cooling down period that could be it also. There are a couple of starting points for you. Let us know what you find. Good luck, Jack
  13. What the hell did you just say? It hurts my eyes to try and read it.
  14. I think you will be fine. My motor is basicallya new one. Just went through a total rebuild, lower unit redo with seals and I worked the carbs over last fall. It better run like new. Good luck
  15. I really like the way you think.
  16. Personally i never do. I just run Stabil and Quick Kleen in each tank with a water seperator and have had no problems. I let mine sit three months this winter, went to the lake, and it fired right up and ran like a new one with no problems. Each situation can be different though, so you might want to check with your dealer. Mine is a Mercury engine with carbs. FYI, I have never run Sea Foam, but have heard great reviews on it. Good luck, Jack
  17. Years ago lots of anglers added a hook to the sinker because of the amount of sinker bites they were getting. I never did and don't ever remember having a problem with sinker bites.
  18. Yes, Yes,Yes, and the fish don't seem to be line shy when fishing it this way.
  19. I hope they brought their warm clothes. They're gonna need them. I packed and leaving tommorrow morning. Gonna be right in amongst them. Wind from the NNW is gonna wreck havoc and drive most of them off the water or as far back into the pockets as they can get.
  20. Some one needs to find the other half of that ham sandwich that Momma Cass ate and get it to her quickly. Cass Elliott for those too young to remember or know.
  21. Yes, and sent it back the next morning. Don't want them coming to my home.
  22. Da*n man, that's just about the worst week I have ever heard of. 1. Get a new puppy. 2. Take the wife out to dinner. 3. Leave the child in jail. (Tough love) 4. Get a taller truck. 5. Carry the police report to your doctor and they will issue a new script(Don't ask me how I know that). 6. Get your A** on a plane. I'll pick you up at the airport with the boat in tow. As many days on the lake as it takes to help. Good luck, and let me know how you like the reel. Jack
  23. Lots of large fish will be caught for a couple of years. The spawns will suffer due to predation of the eggs and fry causing a drop in survival. Catch ratios will fall off as well as average size. Fishing is still great, but watch it suffer over the next few years. Weights that were in the high 20-30 lb. areas will drop off to the mid to lower teens for winning tournament weights. The fish will have to relocate and one of the main spots will be the docks. They will get hammered there further reducing the numbers and size. It will return to the dead sea status it had 20 years ago, but eventually, the grass will return. Then we can fight the lake owners association all over again. It took a 12+ to win the big bass tournament last weekend with at least another five that weighed 10-11+ pounds. It won't last though. Going to suffer for years until the grass carp are gone and the grass starts it's return. Ever seen a grass carp swim up to a yard and stick it's head out of the water to try to eat some one's yard grass that is on the water's edge? It's happening now. FYI, the grass carp are protected. Don't get caught killing one. Key word there is "Caught".
  24. :-? Do you mean when you turn each motor off that one continues to run? Could be a bad on/off switch not switching off. If that's a bilge pump it's possible it's hooked to a automatic pump switch and that's stuck in the on position. Kinda hard to figure out what you've got with such a small picture. X2
  25. Looks like neglect to me. Something got on that reel. Not the manufacturers fault. Maybe he tried to wipe it down with Acetone...LOL
