  1. no problem. sorry to hear about the boat trouble. Main thing is that ya'll made it home and off the water saftely. Try to make the next one. Jack
  2. Wesley, don't have a clue what the family situation is but if they decide to have a benefit function for the family i will contribute. Dan and I were speaking with two guys out on the water Saturday. They told us there was a bass tournament for a four year old girl a couple of weeks earlier. They had finished third and had donated the check back to the family. First place and all of the other winners except one did also. They raised over 12,000 for that little girl and her family. Maybe something like that could be set up if the family is in need. Just a thought. You can count me in for that to. Another set of prayers to the family and all involved. Jack
  3. you might be right. i was on the phone with Wesley Saturday evening while he was catching them. I got caught in that traffic just above pineland when that boy got killed on the motorcycle. Had to wait in the road about 30 minutes, but from what wesley told me Saturday night the road ended up being blocked for hours. Glad I got through it when i did and prayers go out to the family. We will get em next time!
  4. well, sam that sucks. they always do more damage getting to the stuff than what it cost to replace them. good luck.
  5. It's the snap not the swing that will drive the hook home.
  6. I spent the day up at Carrice creek. Had only four keepers and nine nonkeepers. All were on main lake wind blown(Did I say wind blown)points in 3-8' of water on traps, jig, crankbaits, and yes, the senko. It was tough, tough, tough. Best fish came off the side of a point at 12:05 on a spinnerbait. It was done spawning. the other three keepers were caught from 9:30-10:00 on a 1/2oz. chrome/blue back trap. Everyone see that big old moon the night before? That should have told you it was going to be a midday bite.
  7. Rarely, my pocketbook can't stand it.
  8. Night time summer fishing. No crowds, no cold weather gear, and lots of heavy weights.
  9. Bring on the deep water bite.
  10. X2, plus a lot less boats on the water. It was covered up Saturday and the wind was pretty rough. Would have been hard if you tried to sit and count the boats in a given cove.
  11. I got the lucky bite and had big bass. My four weighed 9.25 pounds. There were only seven fish weighed in. I'm all for another go at this later in the year. Be ok with me if we had this get together as a spring and fall thing. Anyone else up for a get together twice a year just let me know. I'm in. Jack
  12. In the storage shed. Wife will not allow them in the house. Can't say as I blame her as what few we give out are pretty cheezy. You can't eat them either, just money would be better.
  13. well, I made it back saftly also. Like Paul and his wife Rena I did't get much sleep either. the fish could have been on a better bite to. We caught a few, got to meet new people, enjoyed our day on the water, what more can you ask for. We have all agreed at weighin to make this an annual afair. So if any more want to jump in for next year, you are invited. We will keep everyone informed as to the dates and time when it is decided. As for fishing i had four keepers with the largest being 4.04 pounds. Paul, Dan, and Rena, let me know what you would like to do. Bass-finantic, where were you and your partner? We waited until 3:30 for ya'll to show. If you leave early you need to make arangements to let us know you are safe. hope everything is ok, and we look forward to having ya'll back next year. Jack
  14. Her name is Wells(Pam Martin-Wells) If you are going to use her for an example please get her name correct. I know she will appreciate it.
  15. Texas does not either. At least as far as I know.
  16. headed to Toledo, everyone have a good, safe weekend. Jack
  17. Mid day from about 10:00 to 2:00ish with a jig or some other plastic. Except summertime, then it is at night.
  18. It is a bendix and it can be purchased seperately. It may not be the bendix teeth that are bad. You need to check the flywheel very carefully. The teeth will not be worn all the way around. Look for a section sometimes two to three inches or more in length that have worn down. What causes this is when the area starts wearing the bendix and the teeth will not mest correctly each time the flywheel stops in that area. Thus creating a bad spot that will only get worse as time goes by. The rest of the teeth will look fine, but it will still have the bad spot in it. If you change the bendix and the flywheel is bad you will just destroy the teeth on the new part. Don't just glance at the flywheel and assume the teeth are all good. The wear will be on the bottom half and possibly up under the bottom edge. Check it over carefully. good luck.
  19. Measure the old cable when you get it out If it has the pigtail on one end just feed it into your steering gearbox and it will lock it's self up. you just feed the pigtail in and turn the steering wheel to the left until it locks. you will get directions on this connection with the cable. Bolt the other end on and your good to go. Hardest part is running it through to the console, but not a big problem. cable should cost 100-120 depending on the length. when you get it apart let me know what you got and I can help you. just not this weekend, will be leaving shortly for toledo. FYI, you will enjoy steering it with one finger again.
  20. Yep, and it produced a 13+ a few weeks ago. Heck maybe it was a 14+, I forget.
  21. Yes, bassman1. Don't expect much help over there. Those guys fish lots of tournaments on that lake an are very tight lipped with any info.
  22. Sent you a pm explaining how to fish the rock along the road bed. From what I have heard Old Mother Hubbard has been extremely slow. Just stay after it and let us know how it goes. They should turn on any day. Good luck
  23. Look up, I have it listed in my response.
  24. With all the roads crossing the lake it is simple to fish out of the wind. just pick a side of any road and go for it. If you fish the noth side of 30 there are many brush tops laying out in the deeper water out in 12-18' up and down the road bed. If you put in a Dalrock look right and you will see another ramp and boat slips. It has a levy running out into the lake to protect the boat stalls. i won big bass(6.1) and third place stringer off the main lake side of that levy last August if you want to give it a try. Water is 30' deep out off the end and both sides at times will produce. You may want to work your way back behind the stalls to see if any spawners have moved up. Has a nice little drain or creek running out of it. good luck.
  25. The hot lure the last week at Toledo has been the Baby Brushhog in watermellon/red if that will help any of the attendees. I probably shouldn't have told that, but I wanted to. Jack
