Fishing In Heavy Cover?
There are always a certain set of fish that spend their entire lives in shallow water. conditions will dictate when and where they set up on the grass. It can be up, down, inside grass line, outside grass line, or buried up in the middle. you just have to keep moving and changing lures until you get bit. When you get that first bite, focus on that area. changing up lures and presentations until you find out just what it will take to catch them. Good luck.

Releasing Fish Post-Tournament
It's no secret where they release them. they pick the spot, motor out, and drop the bottom out of the catch and release boat.

Do any fishfinders see through the weeds?
If you set them up correctly for each condition, they will not only see through it they will show you each strand of grass as it grows from the bottom. At least my lowrance units will.

Guess the weight? 10+?
Dang nice fish reguardless of what it weighs. At least 9.

bank fishing sucks!!
It's been tough on me this year to. Cold muddy water makes it tough. Picking up though now with the warmer weather and clearing water. Keep after them.

PFD Discussion
I still wear the old school PFD. I only wear it when the big motor is running. I fish by myself a lot. Guess I have broken all the rules. Let the bashing begin.

Fishing In Heavy Cover?
I'm with Catt on the football jig in heavy cover. Too hard to work it through the hydrilla. The Oldhan jig (Non football) will do the job. 1/2oz. up to 1 1/2oz at times to get it down. Straight tail worms and spray them down with an attractant. This will help to move the lure through the grass. Lipless lures and keep them ticking the grass. When you do get hung rip them free, this will trigger a strike. I too prefer the Gene Larew trailer for my jigs.

making brushpiles
Two ways to go down here. You either set them out or you watch someone else(If they are foolish enough to try it during daylight), and then go punch in the coordinates. Either way they get done. There are thousands in Lake Conroe,(Yes, a few(Bunch) are mine), and I guarantee you they didn't grow on their own. It's a good thing too, since the Lake Homeowners Association took it on themselves to dump 50,000 grass carp in the lake to eradicate ALL of the grass. At least the surviving fish have something to attach themselves to other than the thousands of docks where they would be easy pickings.

Tournaments during the spawn
I would never waste that kind of time on one fish, especially on a tournament. Yes you would if you could see the size of several I have set over. One fish can make or break you. When you find DD fish you will spend extra time trying to put it in the boat. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't.

Well either noone has caught anything........
They're just a four letter network. To say they suck is being too kind. Hopefully I will live to see Berman canned. The poorest of the poor as far as I'm concerned. Hell, I did not like him when I was younger. Total waste of time. Did I say I did not like him?

Cheater
Funny you ask. Threads have been deleted on the other site. What I read before they were gone was that charges are being prepared and he is trying to plea down. That's all i have heard in the last 6 weeks. Who knows though. We will just have to wait and see. Probably be swept under the rug. He best not show at a tournament I'm paid up in.

Lake Conroe Fishing
Great day, unfortunately the fish did not bite well for me. Had two overs and four unders. All caught on a Watermellon/red brushhog. 2-4' of water. water temps were 62-64* depending on where you looked.

Tournaments during the spawn
Evidently you have never set over a bed for an hour trying to figure out what it takes to make it bite. It ain't the crap shoot you think it is. Our fishing is better now than it's been in years. I fish the spawn tournaments when they come up. Personally I prefer to fish the staging fish. I suck at sight fishing anyway. FYI, a lot of those so called prefish everyone is catching out in 5-8' of water are actually on the bed and they don't realize it..

Fishing In Heavy Cover?
Fish verticle. We do it all the time down here. just move along and drop the lure down each and every opening you come across. If you can't find one make your own with a heavy weight.

Removing the rattles from a lipless crankbait
Jack, how did you do it -superglue? Yep, super glue. When you drill and glue them be sure to hang the lure by the rear treble while they dry to allow the rattles to settle forward. That will help the lure keep the nose down attitude.

Lake Conroe Fishing
Fished conroe today. Four overs(Lake has a 16" mininum), with the largest being 4.97. Fish was on a bed. Caught the male to. They both went right back. fish were caught on a jig and a brushhog. Caught several unders on a LC RC 1.5. Still pretty slow. Found a creek that has 62* water and started catching fish. Going back tommorrow. I was on the south end if anyone cares to know.

Removing the rattles from a lipless crankbait
You bet it helps, especially when following someone through an area. I have drilled and quietened about a dozen of mine and at times they will blow the others away.

Seat height on some new bass boats?
There should be a sticker on the boat warning you not to ride in the elevated seats while the boat is under power.

How long will you live?
