Wally-world Clearance
The stores where I live would have no idea what you are talking about. All they sell are coastal hooks, rigging, and a few of the huge saltwater rods and reels that weigh close to ten pounds a piece.

Spinnerbait Weight
Well my thought that most of the young of the year are in the water and I feel that my catch rate goes up by downsizing to match the smaller bait that is out there. Does not seem to downsize my catch though as I catch many larger fish with these. I also downsize my buzzbait from 1/2 to 1/4 and 3/8oz. at this time of year. Just works for me.

Anyone mounted an Oxygenator on Their Boat?
Thanks everyone for the responses and the links. Think I am going to wait on this project. Ice and additives are cheaper.

Lowrance and Linda Colt
I doubt she will return. Her health is worth more than that. Too many feelings have been aired out in public for it to ever work.

Using guides for prefishing...
There are a couple of large circuits down here that allow it, but as a rule most do not. The larger circuits(150-250+ boats) will allow some leeway, but the others, other than a few in the area do not.

Falcon State Park
Go to: www.falconlaketackle.com and check out all the info. Safe is relative. You should be fine there though. 65# braid is a must. Carry something to cut your way through areas just in case you find an out of the way flat sitting behind all that brush. Good luck, you will have a blast.

Using guides for prefishing...
You don't do it down here. Instant DQ if caught. Guides can fish but they are required to follow the off limits and have not guided on the tournament waters usually for the last 30 days. Some require longer.

Braid, does color matter ??????????????
I am not sure about color, but I take a brown permanent marker and break up the color on the last 6-8 ft. in front of the lure. I just mark across it every inch or so. I think it helps break it up and I know it helps my confidence. Jack

what to do with old unused fishing line?
What I don't use for backing goes in the recycle bin at BPS.

ebay?
I made 7 purchases of some hard to find Lucky Craft lures back in 2005. I have not been there since. Too many freaks and bad sellers/buyers.

Favorite spinnerbailt trailer?? or do you use one??
The only trailer on the rear of my spinnerbait is the trailer hook. I use skirt bulk, length, color, and number of strands to accomplish what I want.

Follow-up Baits??
I follow up my top water misses with a Zoom Trick Worm.

Square Billed Crankbaits
Hell yes.

Spinnerbait Weight
3/8oz and 1/4oz. May early June 1/2 oz. 80% of the rest of the year unless I am slow rolling deep water. Then I will fish a 1/0oz with a smaller willow blade. The smaller blade does not have the lift that the larger blades do allowing me to keep the spinnerbait running deeper without having to slow the retrieve as much.

Uncle Josh Pork frogs?
I still use them in colder water. I prefer the plastic trailers in warmer water because they give me options with color, length, and bulk.

Spinnerbait Blades
Clear water: Hammered Willow Stained water: Combination of Hammered colorado/Willow Muddy water: Hammered Indiana, Colorado, or turtle back Depending on the degrees of color and depth I will adjust the sizes. If smallmouth are present I like painted blades as another option. Jack

Casting Angles, Are They Important?
x2 ~ It starts with boat position, hard to get the right angle with the wrong boat position. After covering a point or drop off, I love getting right up in the skinny water and throwing out over the edge and dragging a bait up the ridge. Sometimes this is the difference in getting a few more bites out of a spot. Other times it's the only way to get bit. A-Jay You sir, get it. Bass can/do become accustom to all the lures running from the skinny water out to the deeper water. By changing the retrieve 180* from shallow to deep to deep to shallow it many times causes them to hit so hard they will knock slack in your line. Same with fishing a creek. Get out on the flat and throw back across the creek. You might be surprised what it does. Fished a large tournament (400 + boats) many years ago on Sam Rayburn. The creek I was fishing was loaded with bait and I knew the fish were there. Could not get bite though. The bait was just cruising up and down the creek and nothing was bothering them. I fished down a 50-60 yard strech without a bite. Turned the boat around to make another pass and the trolling motor hit the shallow bottom where it came up out of the creek stirring up a mud spot that scattered the bait fish. I immediately caught a good fish. Worked my way on down without another bite. When I made the turn on the other end same thing happened. I raised the TM and trimed up and worked my way down that streck sitting out off the creek stirring up the bottom along the edge. The fish turned on. I finished third and the only way to make the fish bite was to stir up the bait and throwing out across the creek to the shallow flat on the other side. They would absolutely hammer the blade when you brought it across the drop and killed it.

Tuscaloosa Lake (low weight tournament)
Welcome to the crowd. I've been skunked too many times to count. Many times on the days they should have eaten every lure to hit the water. Someone forgot to tell the fish and many times I failed to get my head out of my a**. Many things can and will cause a day to go south.

Casting Angles, Are They Important?
I am guilty of overlooking this at times. I firmly believe though that the angle a lure approaches a target can be the most important issue that will cause a fish to strike. Can't tell you the times I have pulled up on a spot and catch fish after fish while the guy in the back of the boat is not enjoying the same success. Have also been on the other end of that senario to. If the cast is off even a little bit it can cause a fish to turn away instead of committing to the lure. Have any of you seen this happen? You pull up and get bit first cast, but while you play the fish the boat moves from the sweet spot. When you get the boat sitting back where the cast comes through the area on the same angle as before you get bit again. This is why I keep a marker bouy sitting on the bow. As soon as a fish hits I kick it over the side to keep my reference. Have you seen this, or do you think it's not that important. Just wondering... Jack
