Red Crankbaits
The bass in our Texas lakes just love them. I fish them from November until the spawn is over in the spring. I then seem to do better with the shad colors summer through mid fall.

Lucky Craft Lures
Yes they are. I started with one plano box with a few and am now working to fill my second box.

1996 Mercury 150HP pee water ???
FYI, don't believe any statements or receipts that are stated or produced when buying an outboard. Get it professionally checked before any money changes hands. Alarms can be and or disconnected at times. Anyone can produce a piece of paper. Just because you have a pee stream, it does not guarantee a working cooling system. Tons of variables that can cause major damage to a motor. If not done , get it checked out. While your at it, get the fuel delivery system checked. If you have a fuel delivery problem on a 2 stroke then you have an oil delivery problem. You just cannot be too careful. Good luck.

Are there smallies in Ray hubbard
I know several of the guys in the Ray Hubbard Bass Club and they are right there where you are. They also have a Tuesday evening tournament from 6-9 each week. I fish it when I'm up there and it's a lot of fun. If you're interested I'll introduce you to them.

How Would You Rate This Song?
The first 4:43 was bad. The rest wasn't very good either.

New Boone & Crockett ??
WOW, that's a buck.

How bout them Cowboys!!!!!!
You think it's bad up there? Try living down here. At least you can find alternate viewing at times. We are bombarded with it and locked in with no alternative thanks to the NFL and that four letter network.

what is your biggest bass
There is a running thread requesting information on largest bass caught that has already been put up this week. It comes up monthly(Or daily, weekly, or hourly). Do a search. Jack

1996 Mercury 150HP pee water ???
X2, boy if I ever agreed with a post this is it. More damage has been done to outboards on a muff than most would ever believe. Why would anyone want to even run one in the driveway is a mystery to me. If you just want to make sure it will start, just start it and then turn the key off. Don't run it on the muff.

Are there smallies in Ray hubbard
Try Texoma. It's loaded with them. I hear every year that a few claim to catch one from there, but personally have never seen one. If they are, they are few and far between. I have family living in Lake Side Village and fish the lake a lot. If you need a back seat just let me know. Jack

Cheater (Robby Rose) caught, cuffed and stuffed.
The guy that won it had a 10.61. Robby's fish would have beaten it by 4/100 if I remember correctly. I'm just waiting for the outcome. Should not take much more time. Probably a slap on the wrist, but he's done around this state.

Sam Rayburn, Boaters that don't Know or Don't Care
If it was Saturday I bet it was that white Wakeboard boat. He's the one that ran between me and the point I was fishing Saturday morning. That is the other issue I have not even discussed yet.

Aluminum boat vs Fiberglass
I started with aluminum boats years ago. they were rough and wet. They make some great boats now. I had the pleasure of checking out the boat for Long Mike before he bought it several months ago. It is a great boat. That being said I just could not go back from my glass boat. It will run anywhere an aluminum boat will, and will stand up to running over just about any stump you can find(Well you can punch any of them if you try). I've put it places that most would not believe and it's never had an issue. I've examined(Adjusted the claim) on three boats(Aluminum) that have been repaired due to holes punched in them this year alone. There are two at a shop here in Houston now waiting to be welded. I have not seen a glass boat in any of the three glass shops here in the last 12 months due to hull damage(Cracked or punched) that the owners said was caused by an underwater object. The ratio runs just about 10-1. I did adjust a claim on a Nitro several weeks ago that had a hole punched in it. It was caused by a front bumper on an F250 that creamed it down on 45s between Houston and Galveston. LOL.

Battery charging question
I have always just taken the jumper wire loose to charge my batteries. They are wired in for my 24v trolling motor. If you forget to disconnect the jumper you will know quickly when you hook the battery charger up. LOL. Dang Catt, I was interested in that deal until I saw the price. Now I remember why I still disconnect the jumper cable. LOL.

How long does it take to charge batteries?
Unless you are fishing daily you might want to invest in an automatic charger and leave them on constantly. I keep mine on a 2 amp automatic charge unless I'm going to be fishing two to three days in a row. If that's the case I bump it up to either 6 or 10 amps so I will have enough juice for the next day. I agree with the above post, if you want them charged up for the next day you need to use a higher charging rate. If you leave them on constantly be sure to keep the fluid levels checked in the batteries.

Do you consider "live" bait cheating?
Cheating? Heck no. My largest bass ever(12.4) was caught on a 11" shiner down in Florida years ago.

Tube jig fisherman.
I Texas rig and C-rig them most of the time. I really like to hop them out a clay point and then kill them down the drop. I never though about c-rigging them until I had a draw partner just kill them from the back of the boat one day. He was fishing them with a 1oz. weight and a three foot leader. I'm a little slow I guess, as I let him put almost 10 pounds in the boat before I gave in and switched up. He finished up with a little over 18 lbs. that day and I never caught up.

Sam Rayburn, Boaters that don't Know or Don't Care
I guess I need to buy up a bunch of cans of spray paint, paint the boat pink, get one of my wife's feathered boas from years past, wear a pair of pink spandex, and run a rainbow flag instead of a tournament flag. I bet they will steer clear then. LOL. Sounds like you're onto something Jack. They'll forget all about Ike if you show up like that. Heck, you might even get onto ESPN in that get up. Maybe even a NEW wrapped Skeeter with Maybelline as your sponsor!! Now that is sick...Might just consider it! I'm am already off on the wrong foot with Long Mike's wife. The first time we met he told his wife that we were going to Fork fishing and he told her I was having botox injections(They are done for my neck issues). The first thing she asked him was if I was gay. He didn't bother to explain the situation to her, but she still let him come to the lake. This thread has taken a wrong turn somewhere. LOL.

How long before it can sustain life
If it's got water and oxygen it is ready immediately. Usually, the state checks out the soil, watershed, and polluting possibilities before, during, and after construction. They will then figure a ratio and begin the stocking procedures. Here in Texas they will stock the forage and give them a buffer before the original stocking of game fish. We have a new lake here in east Texas that has had the forage, and bream stocked since last spring. It was about half full when this was done. The game fish stocking has started and is being done in structured segments. Lake will open in about 18 months. If your lake is over a year or two it most likely has been stocked and is ready for the wars. Remember, there are lots of possibilities for there to be larger fish already in the lake. They can come from farm ponds that were covered, creeks, and even individuals that illegally transport and stock the lakes. Don't get caught doing this either, your in for hefty fines if caught. Only way to check it out is to fish it. Good luck, Jack

Sam Rayburn, Boaters that don't Know or Don't Care
Well after he left I did call the TD to see if I had broken the rule about fishing within a set number of yards from another boat. After I explained it there was no problem, but I sure wanted to know.

Sam Rayburn, Boaters that don't Know or Don't Care
I was fishing a tournament Saturday morning. About 10:00am I was sitting on one of my best brush tops that I've had out since last May. It sits just off a point loaded with grass and sits in 15-20' just off a point. It always produces. I pulled on it and caught three in three cast. I noticed this boat running around out in the middle of Ayish Bayou acting strange. I watched as he made a turn out about 600 yards and headed straight for me. He ran up on plane and shut it down about 40 yards from me and continued to idle up to within 30' of me. I at first thought it was someone I knew, but that was not the case. He just wanted to talk. He shut it down and drifted within 10' ft of me. We talked a minute and I just chalked it up to someone that saw my wrapped boat and wanted to get a closer look at it. He stated that his front depth finder went out and proceeded to fire his boat up and turned it around and idled right up on the spot I was fishing and looked at the drop. This is 20' from my boat, I still said nothing. He then idled a circle over the spot I was fishing and then made a circle around me no further than 20' looking at his depth finder. After he completed his circle he idles right up over my brush top shut it off and dropped a worm over the side of his boat. He did this twice, then fired it up and idled back around to the rear of me and started fishing the drop behind my boat. Never more than 20' from my boat. This went on for about 10 minutes. When he got ready to leave he fired it up, said good bye and ran right over the brush pile as he was getting up on plane. I was so shocked that I never said a word. Just pulled up and left. I guess I should have handled it a little different, but when you have company names on the boat I just figure you have to watch how you handle yourself. would y'all have handled it differently? I've never been moved in on in 35 years like this and not sure if it was deliberate or just a young guy that did not know any better. I had another incident when a ski boat idled between my boat and the point I was fishing an hour earlier, but I'll save that for another day. Sorry for the long post. Jack

Sam Rayburn Update from Nov. 5-8 Fishing Trip
Thanks...The neck did not hold up. I quit fishing at around 11:00. Just could not stand to make another cast. Caught a lot of small fish, but it was just not worth the pain and aggravation. I did spend the rest of the time just running up and down Aysh Bayou putting some hours on the new motor. Had a couple of issues with idiot boaters that I am going to post about to get everyones opinion.

Sam Rayburn Update from Nov. 5-8 Fishing Trip
Well I'm off to the lake. Plans got changed up some this week. Only fishing our club tournament on Saturday. Monday night my neck locked up on me. Had a ct scan Wednesday morning and several injections that afternoon. Would like to say that the shots helped, but that would be overstating it. It is somewhat better, but I cannot turn either way and the only way to raise up out of the bed at night is if I roll over on my right side. Have meds to control the pain, but it is still to much to try and fish both days. Needless to say the wife is less than pleased with my decision to fish. Will give a report Sunday when I return. Jack
