Credit Cards...
Reward cards are great, but as a 20 year old with no credit history you may not be able to get a good one without paying for it. And if you have to pay an annual fee for the rewards then you REALLY have to use that card to make sure that the rewards are greater than the fees. My advice would be to not worry too much about getting rewards, you're likely not going to be using this card all that much anyways (a couple hundred a month will only give you a few dollars a month in rewards). If you know that you can be disciplined enough to pay it off every month then dont' worry too much about the interest rate either. The biggest thing you want to worry about is fees. Find one with zero and use it. After college you can worry about finding a good card with rewards that you'll use. I use my cards like M Starr does. I put everything that I possible can on it. 2% of all purchases goes to funding my kid's college education (529 plan).

Credit Cards...
Get a credit card and use it. The activity WILL help your credit score and when you want to get a personal loan for anything (even a mortgage) it will help. I would start out with a small card (say $500 limit) from the bank you already use. Do whatever you can to get a card with NO annual fees. Make sure you pay your balance in full every month because the interest costs will rapidly become greater than any other benefit you would gain from the card.

Kevin VanDam Wins AOY!
Yep. Skeet was the best angler over the course of the year. KVD, was the best for the last two tourneys. Seems awfully strange to call KVD the AOY when Skeet's stats over the course of the year are so much better than KVD's.

"Convenience fee"
Credit/Debit card companies charge vendors for processing transactions. So, if the vendor (rental company) wants to net the same amount they charge a "convenience fee". Gas stations do it more often than many other stores. The margin on a gallon of gas is very small and lessening that amount due to credit card fees makes it even less. So, many stations charge a little extra to cover the charges from Visa/MC. If you want to be upset about the situation be upset with Visa/MC they've got everyone by the short hairs and make HUGE amounts of money processing these transactions.

You've got 50 bucks, what are you buying?
Nothing from TW. I'd go to custombassfishinglures.com and buy $50 worth of jigs. I'm getting low and GMAN's got the new mop jig that I want to try.

jigs with 5/0 hooks
You're really trying hard to get me to put in another order! You going to sell these and if so how much?

The Show "Lost Lake" a Fraud?
This goes way past the "norm". The premise of the show is not watch the host catch tons of fish on the baits that he is paid to fish. The premise is watch the host/guest angler go through the process of breaking down a body of water that he's never been on. I'd call it a fraud and never watch it again. I watched a few "Day on the Lake" episodes where the anglers were launching their boats on the "lake" without a ramp (barely even a dirt area to launch).

Woot! The Pay off! And dare I say a PB...
Get 5 lb bag of flour/sugar, put in plastic grocery bag, hang grocery bag from scale, see what scale says. If 5 lbs then your scale is verified.

the best hook companies ?
I doubt it. They may be marketed under the same umbrella, but I suspect they are manufactured independently. Yep, Eagle Claw is the parent company, just like Pure Fishing (the make pflueger and abu garcia, trilene and stren, all star and fenwick and ugly stick). Just because the Lazer Trokar hooks are owned by Eagle Claw doesn't mean that the hook is anything like an Eagle Claw branded hook.

The Oil Well Is Capped!
Let's think about it logically a bit. How long does it take to come up with the idea, design, build, test, deliver, and install an 18 foot tall, 150,000 pound device that is capable of containing greater than 8,000 PSI of pressure at an undersea depth of around 1 mile? This isn't something that they can cobble together MacGyver style.

Oil from the Exxon Valdez is STILL on the shores of Alaska 21 years after that spill. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-10661883 http://www.unc.edu/news/archives/dec03/peters121803.html

BBB Yo-Mama
I doubt it. The skirt will slow the ika's fall while the claws are meant to "wave" on the fall without slowing it.
-
Which one catches the fish?
Nope. With a jig and trailer it's a shakeyhead then. A craw on a shakey head catches tons. Catt said rate of fall and when flipping that's the most important thing. The problem is that all three things combine to determine rate of fall. The amount of skirt, jig weight, trailer size/body all play a key role in the rate of fall so it's difficult to determine what would be the most important. I also like to drag jigs on rock bottoms. Here jig head type (for snag purposes) is important but not in attracting the bite. And it's really impossible to tell if the skirt or the trailer is more important. I've had days where I wasn't getting a whiff on a regular jig with a rage craw trailer, but tied on the same color jig with the same trailer in a finesse jig and started catching quality fish. Also, had days where changing the trailer (bigger/smaller profile or high/low action) is all that mattered.

Frogs with mono?
You can use whatever you want and have fun doing it. Mono is not the ideal choice for frog fishing, but it works. I grew up fishing frogs over pond moss with a 6' ML Ugly Stick spinning rod with 8lb mono. Had a freaking blast doing it too. Could I have caught more fish with a stout baitcaster and braid sure, but I fished with what was available to me. I didn't have the money for multiple rods nor did I even know any better. I do know that it worked for me for years and I caught a LOT of fish on that setup and I mainly fished weightless power worms (yep, with an ugly stick). I still fish frogs on mono (12 lb). I only have 2 baitcast setups, one MH Fast action and one M moderate action (can't carry 10 combos around the pond). Still love fishing too . If you can afford to have multiple setups all rigged idealy for each situation (and have the room for them), then buy a technique specific frog rod, a high speed reel, and spool it with heavy braid. If you can't, tie the lure on to whatever you have and sling it out there. You'll enjoy it either way.

Question
I wasn't questioning your numbers catt. I was questioning someone else's. The odds of catching a 5 lber in Texas is completely different than northern IL or Maine. Tournament weights show that

Any strict scary dads out there?
I dont' really know why I'm getting involved in this train wreck, but there is so much incorrect information that I can't help myself. Even if Other hit a home run he did nothing legally wrong. The age of consent laws for most states (Maryland included) take into account situations where there is little age difference between the two. http://blog.laborlawtalk.com/2006/11/09/maryland-age-of-consent-laws/

Question
What kind of waters are you fishing and what are you using to weigh your fish? A 5 lber in the northern part of the country is a big fish and a big deal. In the past couple of years I've caught a few. None this year as I've only been out a few times. Been a bad year for spare time.

Anyone Want to Share Their "Secret Lures"?
1/4 or 3/8 oz GMAN widegap jig with a rage tail craw or paca chunk as the trailer. 4 or 5" *** Those are my favorites
-
Hack Attack???
Saw them at Dick's today and seemed expensive for a pretty basic jig. They were like $4.50 per jig. I can get 2 of GMAN's widegap jigs for that price! Pretty much the same jig. What's so special about them?

OK I can catch plenty of 3-5lbers how to make the move to the big ones??
And those are the "little" ones!!!

What do you consider a successful day when fishing?
With a 5 year old, 3 year old, and a wife that's 8 month's pregnant, actually finding the time to cast once is a success for me!!! My most successful fishing trips lately have been taking my kids to my in-laws pond and getting them to catch little bluegills or not catch anything. They have fun regardless. Success in my book! A fishing trip can be a success without catching anything for numerous reasons. If you like to just "experience" nature, peace and quiet, relax, have fun with friends, "destress", etc, etc, etc then just the act of fishing meets that goal and is a success. Not everyone is hypercompetitive with an eye always to the scoreboard.

He's fishing a lake that is fertilized and actively managed. Not that difficult to believe that it will produce larger than average fish. One should think before speaking
