What should I fish in the pond behind my house?
You're asking the wrong question. The question that you need answered is Where are the fish in the pond behind my house? Is there significant weed growth, any aerators, sunken cover, etc? Find the fish and you can catch them but throw the exact right lure where there are no fish and you won't catch anything.

Anyone register for fall classes yet...
Get married and have a couple of kids and then you can talk about not having a life! I dream of going back to college. Even senior year with 1 CPA prep class that was 4 hrs (8-12) M, T, Th, F and three other classes on top of that.

Anyone getting an Ipad?
I like the look and the interface, but I won't be a buyer until I can install whatever I want on it, multitask applications, and use some type of external memory device (usb drive).

What are your plan's for your state's opener?
If my state had a season opener, I'd spend a TON of time trying to get rid of it. Fishing season's don't make no sense!!! ;D

Luckyingkentucky (disappointed)
BTW, just because the money came out of your account doesn't mean that the check has fully cleared through his bank. Also, why would he trust you to tell him that the check cleared? He is likely following up with his own bank which takes longer. If you wanted it quickly you should have gotten a money order or something else.

Have you ever "taken count" and realized...
If they don't have their own setups then they won't be able to really tell the difference anyways. If I had an extra and I was throwing single hook lures they'd get a MH or M fast, if I was throwing trebles they'd get a moderate action. They'd never know the difference between a senko rod or a t-rig rod.

Quantum Burst or Code?
Since you brought it up, Americanbassoutlet.com has both the Revo S and the Citica for $109. They are also a sponsor here.

Have you ever "taken count" and realized...
Not me!! I've got 4 total combos. Two casting and two spinning.

Mutual Fund Question
If you already paid the load on the American Funds then do not factor that into the decision to move your money to Dodge and Cox. That load has already been paid will not have to be paid again (provided that it is a front load as it seems from your post). Other than that, mutual funds are just like stocks - some will do well and some won't. If you're picking Euro funds, Latin American funds, etc then you're going to want to try and pay attention to the events that are happening there so that you can make the appropriate moves when necessary. I've got a big portion of my retirement in an S&P 500 index fund.

Fat Ika??
It's not a tube. The body is solid. BTW, I fish the "*" (Brent's old ika knockoff) for two reasons. One because Brent sells/sold them and two because they're cheaper.

Private vs Public schools
Public School is a sunk cost. If you send your kid to private school you still pay for public schools so when determing the cost to send a kid to private school the amount you pay in taxes is ignored (public school is considered free in the calculation).

Question on jig assortments
Well to give you good advice it would be better to know the bottom composition, cover, depth, and water clarity that you typically fish. Many people fish deeper and use heavier jigs. Some people fish mainly rocks and use mainly football heads. The best thing to do is to learn the different types and find out how each type will work in the cover that you fish. As for colors I fish browns and greens. Trailers are paca chunks/craws or rage chunks/craws when I want more action and when I want less just a regular chunk like zoom makes. See my signature below for the what I've found to be the best jigs at the best prices.

Private vs Public schools
Just got done reading the Freakeconomics book and the author covers preschool's effects on later test scores. The effect is not measurable. The biggest aspect of a child succeeding in school is the child's desire to succeed. There was another study done regarding Chicago's public schools and their lottery for kids to be able to switch high school's. Those kids who simply wanted to switch did markedly better than their peers, even if they didn't get their choice of school. The difference being they had shown a desire to succeed while their peers didn't. That being said, we send our son to a private preschool at a Methodist church (no requirement to be a member although members get first dibs on their class choices). He'll go to public kindergarten next year. We don't have the option for a public one though. And, the cost isn't ANYWHERE near what you are considering paying. We're at a little over $200 a month for each month that they are in school ($1,800). That's for MWF for 2.5 hours in the mornings. Our daughter will go to preschool at Creative World (a daycare place) next year. It's a bit more expensive (like $30 a month more), but only 1 mile from our house. Same days and hours as my son is doing now.

And what do you have to back up this statement?

Why so flippin long?
That would be one hella long handle!! Is it like 16"? I hadn't ever seen a flipping stick like that. Most of the ones that I've looked at (as I said I don't own one) have a slightly longer handle in the 7'6" vs the 7', but not significantly longer (like an inch).
-
Why so flippin long?
I think we went right past each other. The distance between the point of effort and the fulcrum is not the same as the distance between the point of effort and the "load". My point was that increasing the distance between the point of effort (your hands when the rod is in your gut) and the load provides LESS leverage. Given two rods with the same length handle the longer rod will provide less leverage than the shorter one. However to your point above, given two equal length rods where one has a longer handle than the other, the one with the longer handle will give the angler MORE leverage. In this instance the point of effort/hands is closer to the load/rod tip. Did you see the length of the handles on those Tuna Stick rods? They combine a very long handle with a short rod to provide the angler with as much leverage as possible, which actually means decreases the mechanical disadvantage of the third class lever as much as possible.
-
Why so flippin long?
Because the loads being applied aren't typically going to be enough to cause anyone to notice an issue. A 3 lb bass probably doesn't pull hard enough for the typical angler to notice the difference. However, tuna fishermen catching 100 pounders would know. As an example, the Penn Tuna Stick is 5'6" or 6' long. If a longer rod provided a mechanical advantage in landing a fish then they would 8' or 9' long. http://www.consumersmarine.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=87922&pdesc=Penn_Tuna_Stick_TS3080ARA60_Rod&cname=Rods&aID=701A&merchID=1009&r=view In my opinion, the biggest advantage to a longer rod isn't about leverage, it's about control. You can get your rod tip closer to the fish and are better able to control it. If you're flipping you're already pretty close and a longer rod just gets the rod tip closer so that you can pull the fish where you want it to go. Does a foot make a huge difference? I don't know. I don't even have a flipping rod. All I know is that you get LESS leverage on the fish with a longer rod. This is a basic scientific fact.
-
Why so flippin long?
Correct, but a class three lever provides no mechanical advantage. In fact, the longer the lever the greater the DISadvantage. To verify it do a simple experiment. Do a bicep curl with a weighted object. Then attach that weighted object to a stick (or something that increases the distance between the weight and your elbow) and curl it again. The second weight will feel heavier because you are increasing the mechanical disadvantage of the third class lever by increasing the distance from the load.
-
Why so flippin long?
No, no, no. This always comes up when we talk about longer rods. The longer the rod is the LESS leverage the angler has over the fish because you are giving the fish a longer lever to work against you. If you want real world examples look at the rods used for shark fishing or tuna fishing. They aren't 8 footers. An angler using an 8 foot rod to catch a massive tuna would get pulled in.

Census forms
And if that is all the feds relied on to set their funding targets then many public schools would "magically" begin to grow rapidly as their "head count" numbers were not being checked.
-
Census forms
You do realize that you you give the gov't this information each and every year when you file your taxes right? I don't understand what the big deal is about this question. As I said earlier, I didn't even look at the form so I don't know if there are other questions that are strange, but getting worked up about this one doesn't make any sense to me.

Why do we still see vertical holds with large fish?
It may be unnatural, but how it is harmful? It's unnatural for me to stand on my head, but I'm not hurt by it. And what are you talking about in regards to "support internal organs"? Why do they need to be "supported"? A bass can easily swim vertically through the water to say strike a topwater lure. If a vertical position was harmful to them then how could they swim that way?
-
Census forms
yes and I don't know. My wife filled it out and I didn't even look at it. As for names and ages of your children, you give that info to the gov't every year when you do your taxes. What's the difference if you give it to them one more time?

Toilet question part 2
I've got more important things to worry about than what my . skin touches. For those that are paranoid about it, do you touch anything in the bathroom with your hands? To me, that's much more disgusting than anything I sit on.
