Lucky Craft prices? Those rapalas are all still under $10. I was pretty satisfied with my stash of rapala's, but now I'm going to have to pick up some DT Fat 1's, Gliding Raps, X-Rap shallows, and a Clackin Rap or two. There goes my fishing budget for a while. :-/

My only problems with the Rage Tail shad is the price. They work great and are durable so they got that going for them. I'll keep using them, but will grumble a bit each time I get a short strike and lose the tail or something else ruins the $1 piece of plastic. Then I'll put another one on and catch some more and hope that one lasts a long time! The next time Dick's puts these things on sale I'm stockin up!! Hopefully, I'll be able to get some Anaconda's then too. Talk about a tease showing the details of those MONTHS before their release to us poor schmoe's!!!

I've got 2 extremes and a Crankin stick. For the money (at sale price), these rods are good. They aren't top of the line by any stretch of the imagination, but for 60-70 the extremes are a solid value. The crankin stick is great for 30. I'd never by a BPS rod at full price. If I had to pay full price, I'd buy a different brand.

Isn't each Wal-Mart's fishing department managed independently? The differing Wal-mart's that I've been too have always had differing amounts and types of fishing tackle and clearence items. That said I got a bunch of Gammy hooks last fall on clearence too. Too bad I got the actual clearence price of like 2.12 and not .99!

That's how all my jigs end up. That means that I'm fishing it where the fish are down in the rip rap. I have not noticed any change in effectiveness as the paint slowly diminishes to next to nothing.

I'm liking the Rage Tail products but the price is a bit too much for me. A buck a bait for soft plastics is tough to swallow. After I'm done with this pack of rage tail shads I'll probably move on to other soft plastics.

Being a fellow shore angler I'd say not to fish the jig in the summer in the moss. No matter what type of jig head you get you're going to reel in a lure full of moss. In order to catch you're first jig fish you want to find water that is clear of moss and has other structure/cover. Laydowns, rock piles, etc are great places to utilize the jig. I've got a pond that I fish that has an area with a rock bottom where a creek runs into the pond. The jig KILLS there. I can fish that little area for an hour and catch fish every few casts. However, if I move away from the rocks the only thing I catch is moss. I throw toads, frogs, t-rigged plastics on top of the moss and drag the bait across the top and let them fall or pause in any holes. You'll need a stouter rod for this though. A ML is just too light to be able to pull a nice fish out of the heavy moss. I currently am using a 6'6" MH rod that I feel is too weak. Next year, I'm planning on moving up to a flipping stick or something of that nature.

Hence the word SEEMS I realize that you had seems in there, but I was just pointing out that these docu-dramas are typically less about facts and more about pushing the opinion of the writer of the docu-drama. Wal-Mart has issues, but when you're as big as Wal-mart is you are going to have issues somewhere. We shop at Wal-Mart all the time (either there or meijr). It's way more convenient to get everything at one store than it is to get the kids in and out of the car at 4 or 5 different stores. AND I save money shopping there too.

If the bait isn't spinning on the retrieve why does it matter if it's on its belly or back? Fish aren't going to be able to tell the difference.

The pond I fish the most has lots of carp. I see them breaching the surface all the time right around where I'm catching bass. I also caught a nice sized carp right in the middle of catching bass in the same spot. Thought I had a HUGE bass that time, but it was just a carp. But that is pond fishing though so being on a lake may make a difference.

Most people make a distinction between frogs and toads. The OP listed differing types of toads (solid soft plastic baits that do not float). Frogs are hollow plastic and do float. The toads have more action in open water as the feet churn through the water, however a frog can also be fished in open water with a walk the dog retrieve (although you may have to trim the legs to get the desired action).

I would attribute it more to the the type of jig head on the Evo. It isn't going to come through sticks, lily pads, grass, weeds, etc nearly as well as something like a poison head or arkie style jig head.
