  1. I have a chart that gives the weight of a healthy bass based on length. It only goes up to 25.5" however. Avg weight for a bass 25" should be 9.3 lbs. This time of year and with the bass being in not good condition one 28" may be even less than this. I caught one earlier this month that was 24.5" and weighed 7lbs 12oz.
  2. Chain pickerel, We call em D*** Jacks here. Also "flying Jacks"' they can be quite acrobatic.
  3. jessejames11 A 1 ac pond is very easy to become unbalanced in bass/bluegill ratios. If you are catching a lot of small bass and a few large but not many small bluegill I would guess the pond is out of balance. As far as stocking every few years you are probably just feeding the larger fish. I would suggest having a biologist take samples of the population and get his advice. If you only practice catch and release I can almost guarantee the pond is overpopulated with bass. The vegetation may or may not be a problem depending on how it is controlled. The money you spend on a biologist wil be well worth it.

I love the "thump" you get with a texas rigged worm and the explosion from a top water frog so I don't troll much. You just loose that feel-- excitement when trolling. I have tho. Usually with a spinner bait or crank bait, occasionally a worm or creature bait Trolling will catch a few fish but most important it will FIND fish. More often than not if you catch one trolling there is more there. I always drop back and throw a worm or swim bait where I got the hookup and usually catch more.
  5. Is there a Bass in there??? There he is 2 lbs of Bass 5 lbs of weeds 7 pounder---right?? Got this one this pm on a zoom brush hog watermelon red. 2o wg hook 30lb braid
  6. Riparian rights vary from state to state. If the river is designated as a navigable river the riparian rights are defined by the feds. Typically there is no typical as to where the actual property line is located. Most large lakes here in Ga and most of the SE were built by the TVA and the lakes, and the land under the water are owned by some governmental authority or by the power company. They vary as to the location of the property line, some are determined by an elevation, some by the average lake level others by other means. I the OPs case though in any state if he has tied his trot line on a tree or anything that is on dry land he is almost definitely trespassing unless he owns that property. In almost all states if the OP puts his boat in the water while on his dry land property, or has permission to do so, he is free to paddle, swim, wade anywhere on the lake, pond. If he steps foot on dry land on anyone else's property he is trespassing, no ifs, ands or buts anywhere
  7. Have always used a bait caster. Since before they were called bait casters and had those thing-a-ma-jigs that help prevent backlashes. Personally cant stand a spinning reel. My dad taught me to cast with the left hand reel with the right. Reason being that you don't have to swap hands. Believe me here now not really bragging but the way I fish I often "throw it in their mouth" and swapping hands just wont work .
  8. Cant convince me of the scare theory either. Just got in a few minutes ago from fishing. I was meat fishing at my own lake with the intention of keeping 4 14"-16" LMB. Well I caught six or seven 13"ers with successive cast and released them all. Realized I probably wasn't gonna catch any any larger so I moved on. Caught the 4th 15"er with my last cast.
  9. What is that north of the Dock also south near the other dock?? Loos like tires??? If this is in 50' of water (what a dropoff) fish anything you want. Early topwater towards the bank then Texas rigg a worm. Later on dropshot a senco and use a jigg. fish in the corners and try skipping a jig under the dock. GL this just LOOKS LIKE FISH!!
  10. GoTakeANap It works pretty well. The 2nd nite I had it hooked up there were several large bluegills swimming around and many small baitfish. I can "almost" always catch a mess anytime day or nite. Crappy at nite and bluegills in the daytime. It has what appears to be 2 florescent bulbs about 40w output.
  11. Check this out http://www.bo-jofishlight.com/homepage.html I have it o my dock and it works great
  12. I know this doesn't really adress the thread but I think it's a great story and the stories are better than the fishing aint it? I was fishing Lake Eufaula a couple of weeks ago during the FLW event. Had picked up on a spot Labor day that I wanted to go back to. Started fishing b4 daylight but I made the mistake of fishing a couple of other spots first not knowing the tourney was going on. When I got to the spot I wanted to fish there were 5 boats there or very nearby. I had caught 8 fish there that were great tourney fish (between 2.5 & 5lbs). Burned up a tank of gas trying to find somewhere else then finally went back to Rood creek. Was fishing the banks mostly cause I am really a cover type fisherman and there was a boat fishing in the main stream (carolina & Texas rigged). I started talking to these guys about there luck and told them of my experience that day and last weekend. They caught a couple small ones but I saw them cull one and I caught one and released it (about 2 #). As I got further away I overheard "That old man aint never caught what he said". Well as luck would have it I felt that "sponge" in the treetop I flipped into and set the hook. Knew it was a good on because the drag screamed as I set the hook (using 50#braid and tight drag). Dragged him out of the treetop and saw it was a "real" good one and he had swollowed the hook. Played him around the front and trolling motor so those guyes could see, then lipped him and did my best Iconelli. Held him up for all to see, took out the scales and proclaimed 5#11oz. Then released him, pointed to where I released him and yelled to them "there he is". They cranked up and left. Now I know you tourney guys may think I was unsportsman like and I may have broken some of the tourney rules but "just had to do it" I talked to Tim Malcolm (the tourney winner) later that week but didn't mention this. I would like to fish in some of the tourneys but am really torn between just fishing here at home in my own private 90ac lake and going to the "big" lakes. I can't catch crap at lake Blackshear but Eufaula is a different story. I think I could probally catch em on Seminole too. If anybody needs a co-angler for the FLW at Seminole next month I'm still thinking about and will probally fish it with an invitation.
