SW Pennsylvania Thread
Wilhelm is an awesome lake. That lake has some absolute hogs in it. They may be post spawn right now. I was there a few weeks ago, and they were spawning and post spawn. You should catch them all over... nowhere special.

A Weekend with Kevin Short
That is sad what happened with his daughter, but I am glad there is some good coming from it. On another note that sig with the popper on the mouth of the bait is awesome ! I think it is rowland's.

Massachusetts/East Coast Swimbaitin'? Is it worth it?
This is no jab on buckman or any other member, but I was wondering if you caught them in a private lake/pond or on a legit public lake?

How to get into Tournaments?
Look into bass clubs. I joined a bass club this year, and fish about 2-3 weekends a month. I also fish the BFL northeast division. The bass club and the BFL have boaters and non boaters. The only difference with BFL and the bass club is that in the BFL the boaters vs. boaters and non boaters vs non boaters.

Check this Fishing Log out
Those are great points Paul. I didn't really think about it like that.

Check this Fishing Log out
http://www.americanbassanglers.com/fishingsoftware.php I just downloaded the trial, and this fishing log has so many features it's crazy! You can search for queried results. For instance if you are fishing in spring, air temp 70-80, clear water, largemouth bass, water temp 57, and the ph 3. It will go into your past logs and find what worked for you in this situation. This is only a trial for 20 days, but I wanted you guys to snoop around and tell me what you thought of it.

trout fishing
Do you really honestly use a pointer for trout fishing.... You guys make me sick.

need help with trout
The smaller ones are nice, because you can jerk the heck out of them. I use smaller ones in stagnant water for trout, I use them in shallower water, and small streams.

need help with trout
I don't use any live bait for trout, and I do VERY well. I never come home without a limit. This goes for stocked trout or natives. If you are fish fast deep water use a Rapala CD-7. The rapala is a sinking countdown. Any color will work! For smaller streams I use spinners. I use two types, and that's it. I use a black body gold blade, and a silver blade white body (all you need). For still water and finicky trout I use trout magnets. I have done well rigging them with a float and suspending them as well. If you need anything more specific shoot me a PM. I put a lot of time in on trout fishing. The one HUGE problem people have with trout fishing when fishing spinners and rapalas is their accuracy. When trout fishing small streams you need to be accurate. You need to learn how to read the streams and rivers as well. Just by looking at a stream I can usually tell where the fish are. It is just time on the water, and experience. Keep putting your time in, and one day it will just click.

Man this sucks bad
I tore my ACL and my meniscus 3 times. I am sure many other guys on here have been through the ringer. I had 3 surgeries, and I am sure other people have had more. It is a common occurrence.

Hey ZEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know exactly where your talking about. I have spent a lot of time on that stream. That is some neat history!
-
Hey ZEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zel this really brings back great memories...I miss hunters creek. That was my favorite stream to fish... it was just beautiful. I really enjoyed fishing it and miss it. You are lucky to be able to fish that stream! PS: (were you one of "those" people who posted)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may be a bit cynical.. stuff rat poison in balls of bread and have your wife and daughter feed the ducks.

Patomac River, Mattawomen Creek
Not good at all. Let's just call this one a bad experience.
-
Patomac River, Mattawomen Creek
I fished the BFL last weekend. I spent the whole tournament in that creek. If the water is 63 ish and muddy, and you don't hit them in an hour or so on a good tide leave.... They were hitting them on the main river last weekend.

Cheaters getting caught
They DO check livewells before every tournament. Many of the tournaments like the BFL have a non boater. So they would see the boater cheating. Of course there are ways to cheat. There are always ways of beating any system.

night fishing
I spent a week at home in northeast pa, and have been fishing every day. I went for trout two days, and bass two days. The water temp is avg of 61. I have, and still do fish a lot at night. I think it is too cold yet. You will get them, but they arn't on like they should be. I would wait for a week or two of warm weather.

When to fish...?
Great stuff guys! I was beginning to think this thread would flop like my others.

Favorite Beer...
When a college student spends all his money on fishing: PBR, keystone, natural ice, miluakees best. When a college student has money: Yuengling, Labatts, Smithicks, Amberbock, Heineken, Hoegaarden.

When to fish...?
I am looking for how you guys figure out what the best way to fish for them is. This could be seeing crayfish activity at the boat dock, or shad activity. This could be seeing suspended fish on the fish finder. I have spent a few days on the boat JUST fishing a jig. Dragging it very slowly, hopping, popping it, and swimming it. I don't think it is as cut as dry your saying either RW (although it may be a start).
-
When to fish...?
Alright I guess this is a stupid question.
-
When to fish...?
How do you know when you should be targeting the bottom with heavier t-rigs, c-rigs, jigs, etc. . How do you know when to target the middle or high water column? Do you use experimenting primarily, or sonar primarily?
