potomac river longnose gar
You saw a 36 inch snakehead? That sounds a bit big for a snakehead. You should have caught that meter long snakehead and slit him frim tail to gills.

Going Trout Fishing
Do they stock it with trout? I can pretty much guarantee you there are trout in the pond either way. There wouldn't be 5 people there daily if there weren't trout. I don't use spinners in non moving water very often. I will switch over to a rapala and twitch it like crazy or use live bait.

Help, Buying my second bass boat!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally I wouldn't get a pro staff boat. They beat the hell out of their boats. If you plan on fishing tournament trails like the Flw route- BFL/Stren/ etc, you want to check the contingency eligibility. Same with B.A.S.S. weekend series and such. The flw: Ranger Bonus Eligibility Boater Guidelines: 1. Be the registered original owner of a Ranger boat. 2. Furnish proof of ownership when entering but in no case later than tournament registration. 3. Use the eligible boat during all days of competition. 4. No competing boat sponsor logos may be worn. I also think their is a Yamaha contingency & Frabill. If you plan on fishing stren you better have a ranger 2004 or newer. If you do win and you don't have a ranger 2004 or newer you lose out on a $40,000 boat. These are just examples of contingencies for the FLW route. B.A.S.S. has some contingencies as well you may want to check out. I agree with jdw174 on the size. I wouldn't go any smaller then 20 ft with a 200hp. My buddy runs a 19ft 150, and I think he is upgrading this year. Nothing like eating big waves on the way back to weigh in.

Camping
Where do I camp at though? I know some places have campsites. Smallwood state park I think is $30 a night which I could swing, but what about other places? Do I just setup a tent in the lot?

Camping
This is becoming a huge problem for me. I am a poor college student, and try to find the cheapest way to stay overnight for tournaments. The first tournament I slept in my car (AWFUL). The second tournament I decided to sleep on an air mattress on my buddies boat. I overlooked the fact that the mosquito's would eat me alive and the bugs would be crawling all over me. At about 2 a.m. I decided to break into my buddies truck and sleep there. This was a bad decision. I had to get my bag with all my valuables after I got into the truck. So I opened the door and the alarm started sounding. I took a look up and down the road, and booked it to where he was sleeping woke him up, got the keys, and slept in his truck. Again this was horrible. It was HOT I was sweating the whole night didn't sleep a wink. I got up at 4 a.m. took a shower, and got ready. Both tournaments I slept less then a total of 4 hours for. I am trying to keep my expenses down. I drive a small car. I need some advice from you guys who have been through it.

Fishing Hyrdrilla
I have a huge problem fishing a senko in the wind. After it hits the water the wind blows my line and my senko never gets to the bottom it just moves around. How do you approach fishing them in windy conditions like that or even current.

Hookset problem cost $$$
I just checked all the eyes. The only thing I found odd was inside an eye there was extra clear coat or something. It wasn't rough or anything and it just made the eye a little less round. I don't think that was the problem at all. I think it may be my line.

Hookset problem cost $$$
I think I may have bad braid on. What lb test do you guys suggest for pitching/flipping weeds? Are there any stores that sell tungsten cheap? Do you think colored tungsten out fishes silver?

Hookset problem cost $$$
The gap in the hook eye isn't that big. I don't see how it could happen, but it is possible. What did you do to fix it?

Hookset problem cost $$$
This weekend I was in the BFL on the Potomac. We had a 4 hour delay due to heavy fog. So you really had to make every bite count. I was flipping with a sweet beaver 3 ot hook lead older sinker pegged with a rubber stop 30 lb braid 7'4 flipping stick. I also use a palomar knot. The day before I was using the same setup, and I snapped 2 fish on the hook set. Dumb me used the same setup on tournament day. Three casts in I set the hook on a solid fish and the line snaps between the pegged sinker and the hook. It was a clean cut, and I don't think my knot slipped since I use Palomar. I am wondering if the lead sinker since it is sort of jagged cut my line. I need to resolve this problem. It costs me a check this weekend.

WTF (what the fish) anyone seen this
This weekend my buddy, and I caught 2 snakeheads within 5 minutes of each other 10 yards apart. He caught a smaller one about 2 pounds 16 inches. I caught a fat one looks like a female about 4-5 pounds. He caught his on a frog in shallow weeds, and I caught mine on a popper which he followed from the weeds.
