Quality underspin
I was just wondering if there was such a thing as a quality underspin fishing reel. (well my dad was wondering not me) But if there is such a thing what is one you would recommend. Thanks in advance!

No more fishing for me?
Going deep is ideal but not necessary. You can easily have great bass days by merely hitting cover (such as under boat docks) in the middle of a really hot day. Getting creative I guess is what it comes down to if you don't have a boat

New River
Yeah I think Claytor is pretty underrated. My psychology TA got two citation size smallmouth there in one trip and he said he really didn't fish all that much. I go to Tech too so me and VABasser may be able to show you a thing or too. The only thing is the New is pretty new to us too. (no pun intended)

I need information on HUNTING RUN for Sunday please...
I was just out there this evening. Water was crystal clear. Didn't get to fish that long. got out about 6 and fished til 7. I managed 4 little guys and had one probably one and a half pounder on a popper but managed to get off somehow. The first was on a zoom trick worm as soon as it hit the water and the rest were on popper. From the little time I was out there they seemed to be hitting pretty well. As I said I didn't really have a chance to do much damage. But I wouldn't shy away from top waters early and late. Just make sure you give them a chance. Also, it seems if you can get your bait anywhere close to some cover you have a really good chance at getting a fish Good luck out there Sunday and I hope some of this can be of some use to you. I fished in a cove on the other side of the boat ramp across from the first island. If I had a trolling motor I would have been able to cover some more ground but I didn't. But, get out there and slay em.

NoVA guys - Ticks
yes... I bank fished hunting running and picked off probably 5 on me there and another 5 at home. It may have something to do with the amount of rainfall we have had

Fishing Hyrdrilla
Hey guys, I was fishing the Potomac River here in Virginia today off a couple boat docks and spent a lot of the time battling hydrilla. It wasn't too bad when I went out around 1, but the wind started blowing it in to my side of the shore. I tried everything I could think of. The best strategy I could employ was fishing a kreature bait over the clumps of it and letting it fall into the holes. I only caught two bass. One was caught early on a spinner early and the other was caught on the kreature as soon as it hit the water. Thanks in advance

Rappahannock River Conditions
Thanks for the spinnerbait tip, Jay. I did try working a spinnerbait over top of the ledge, but I wasn't exactly slow rolling it. But, I will definitely try that next time. I would have really liked to wade with you next thursday but I am gonna be out of town. I wade a lot around embrey dam and also on a spot off river road. We ought to get together and get a little I'll show you my spot if you show me your spot kind of thing goin on some time (not that my spots are all that secret).

Rappahannock River Conditions
Plans didn't work out to go to the river, but I decided to head over to the quarry instead. I did ok there considering I was only there for about an hour and a half. There were definitely a lot of bass in there. I saw one pretty big one that was probably about 3 pounds start to go after a weightless fat ika but before I saw it coming I had already raised the rod tip and brought it up from its fall. I was really kicking myself after that. I had two half pound dinks and two that were pushing just a little over a pound. I really want to see what is in this quarry because both times I have gone the only things I can get them to go after are finesse falling presentations such as a wacky rigged trick worm, weightless trick worm, weightless fluke, or weightless fat ika. I have a really good feeling that theres some ancient grandpa in there or something. Another day I reckon.

Rappahannock River Conditions
I drove over the Rappahannock river today on my way out to walmart and saw that the river is looking tons better than it did yesterday. After all the rain it seems like it has taken longer than it normally does to clear up. I am going to head out there before too long to do some wading/swimming with a group of friends and fish. Nothing too serious. I will report back with how it went later!

New River Trip
I am a student at Virginia Tech and I would absolutely love to take a trip with someone with experience on the New. I have fished it probably 10 times since I have been there but never from canoe. The only problem is that I am at home for the summer. Next year though I will most likely live there for the summer. I go back in mid August so perhaps then?

Frustrated with the City of Fredericksburg
The other day i decided to check out the city quarry. I didn't realize it was closed to the public and accessed it via river side. When I got there there were two no trespassing signs. This frustrated me because i happen to know that tax dollars are what bought this quarry from the Silver company in 2003 for about 3 million dollars to deposit silt from the destruction of the embrey dam. I may have fished it anyways, hooking up with two 3 lbers and a 4 lber in the matter of about an hour. There are a lot of big bass in there. I saw them. I want to fish this place now very badly I decided to call the city and see if I could somehow attain permission to fish there. I spoke with one receptionist who told me that it was not open to the public and I accepted it. But then I got to thinking. People have permission to give scuba lessons there. Why are they allowed to scuba there but I am not allowed to fish there. So I called back and talked to a different receptionist. She at first tried to tell me that only city officials were trained there such as people from the fire department. Then I told her that a company advertised on their website that they had access to the quarry and they gave certifications there. At which point she told me if anybody was there other than officials being trained it was against the law. I just now found out the boy scouts dive there for badges. I do not think the boy scouts are breaking the law. I just called the scuba company to see how they got permission to dive there and they are supposed to call me back. Anybody know what else I could possibly do? I am frustrated

Lake Yojoa Honduras
It is important to realize that bass are looked at in places like Honduras as just another way to eat. They don't value them for their worth as a sport fish. It is just a completely different culture I guess.
