Topwater Poppers
I use the 65 Gsplash for light wind conditions. I would use the 80 Gsplash if there is a chop on the water. I do awesome with this lure walking the dog.

MD Bass Clubs
Check out the Fish On club. They are a nice club and a very large club. I spoke with the president and some other guys, seems like a good deal! They are big on respect in the club. One thing I thought was interesting was how this club is based on learning they like to take an average fisherman and in a few months turn him into a great fisherman. Check it out it cant hurt.

Smith Mountain Lake

What do you call short fish?
It all depends on what setting I am fishing in. If it is for recreation I call them dinks... and throw them back. If it is a tournament and the keeper length is 15 and it is 14.75 I call it a b****** throw it back and tell it to bring me its momma and papa.

Correct amount of line on reels
Well thanks for the advice about baitcasters. Thanks for the lesson ghoti.

Correct amount of line on reels
I think you just get the hang of it and with experience you will just know how much is enough. I like about 1/8th inch of open spool on spinning rigs. On baitcasters I am still in the learning process I don't think it matters as much as spinning though. I think overall that the listed yardage/lb test is basically a guideline. Overall It's your personal preference.

Line Basics
Thanks dodgeguy you cleared up some misconceptions I have had in my mind. If flouro is the most abrasion resistant why wouldn't you wanna fish it with cranks? I have fished Seguar I love it. You say about using braid in grass but with what techniques?

Drop Shotting
I dont understand how you guys are tying this up. I know how to do the palomar knot. I am a visual learner I guess. Do you tie a palomar knot and then tie another palomar knot with the line below the hook?

Jigs vs cranks

Line Basics
I just wanted to state what I think I know about line in general. Feel free to correct me or give me your opinion and how things work with your setups. Also the usual pattern with my posts are multiple questions. Flouro- Flouro is basically invisible. The line should be used in clear waters, with finicky fish, and with finesse applications. Mono- This line is more abrasion resistant then flouro. Use this line with cranks. Braid- I use power pro with topwaters. Looking for other uses and lb tests and why. I hear people using jigs on braid with a leader and braid used to cut through grass. I am lost with braid! I am also confused about when to use leaders and when not to. Obviously you use leaders with a C rig. I am more interested in using leaders with jigs. Some lures that I am curious of what line to use are Jigs, lipped cranks, lipless cranks, Crig (braid main line leader flouro ?), buzzbaits, dropshots. I am not really looking for brands so much as I am the lb test and type and an explanation why.

NEW MARYLAND STATE RECORD!!!
I find it odd that he caught it on a BPS lure and took the bass to BPS to show off. I don't know... I may be wrong but something seems fishy.

NEW MARYLAND STATE RECORD!!!
When I was in maryland I knew about this. At the boat show the guys from Fish on club were there and that guy was one of their buddies. That is awesome, we were all talking about it being the state record. That sure was quick to get it set in stone.
