45-50 degree water temps
My boat is not ready so I have been fishing from shore. I have caught a few on a finesse jig dragged VERY slow on the bottom and a 1/4 oz. Chatterbait slow rolled on the bottom. I reeled it just fast enough to feel it vibrating and hitting the bottom. I tried the "normal" cold water baits, (jerks, rattles, spinners) no go. Whatever you throw...DO IT SLOW!!! Good luck!

Does anyone know where I can find schemetics for a Porcraft PRO 205 DC?
Hey all, Looking for anyone who may know where I can get schemetics for a 2001 Procraft PRO 205 DC bass boat. I have looked on the WWW and no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Alan (bassnajr)

Looking to buy some rain gear
I don't know if you are a member of T.B.F. (The Bass Federation/F.L.W.) If you are, they have a rainsuit (bibs and jacket) for $67.00 shipped. They are made by Stearns...good quality. If you get the F.L.W. magazine, there is a good chance you are a member. Good luck!

Got my first of 2011...thanks to a BR brother!!!!!
SLOW! lol Black and blue *** trailer...big trailer on a little jig. I think these jigs work so well because of the length of the hook. Going back out tomorrow...if it doesn't snow!! It was quite obvious this fish has already been eating. I always figured they started putting on the pounds after ice out.

Got my first of 2011...thanks to a BR brother!!!!!
Well, Went to my local pond today. 40*...snow showers....crazy!! Threw all the cold water baits...trap..jerkbait....spinnerbait...nothing. I had also brought along a black 1/4 finesse football jig made by one of our BR brothers, Backwater4. 3rd cast...THUMP! a 3.5 lb.-4.0 lb. beauty! And...her belly was FULL...eating up already and last week the pond was frozen. Unbelievable!!! Couldn't resist the candy!! Don't know what it is about these baits!!!! Alan (bassnajr)

Was this a (swimbait) bite?

I have a question about what is happening in Japan for members....
Hey all, First let me say that my thoughts and prayers are with all the people of Japan and all those on the ground and on there way there to help out. That having been said, is anyone else more than a little worried about the three nuclear power plants in danger of melting down? The lack of media reporting on it and the lack of response from the United States government on what will be done to protect the people of Japan and for that matter the world. I don't know alot about nuclear accidents but I would think that there would be more being done and said. Comments??

What are the odds on this???
OK, Other than a few ice bergs floating around my local pond...THE ICE IS OUT!! So I decide today to tie on a lure and head to the dam at the pond for a few casts. Windy, still cold, but who cares..right? After about 45 minutes I was invigorated with the knowledge that Spring is here. I begin to walk back to my truck when I see something glittering in the sun. It's an H2O jerk bait I broke off last fall on an underwater tree. It was 3 feet from the waters edge and had been thrown up by waves from a bad storm we had last week. "Wow!" I thought. I walked another 100 yards and I see something orange in the grass near the dam wall. It was a Luckycraft RC 1.5 that I also lost end of the summer...early fall! Had only one eye, so I know it was mine. Unbelievable!!! I am hoping this is a good *** for the upcoming season! What do you folks think? PS Now If I can only find that $20.00 Jackall Deka Hamakaru I lost there last summer!!

carolina rigs
Use the pre-made "kit" that is sold by Bass Pro Shop. Heck of a lot easier and not that expensive. I never threw a C-Rig alot until last year and didn't follow "the rules" of where to throw it. I threw it every where and caught fish with it all year long. It is a staple now and a confidence technique for me.

Need some advice
Try em....I agree with some others that probably a topwater/wake bait of some type will get you bit. IMO the size will be key. IMO big fish would rather one HUGE meal than have to battle the dinks (who are much faster) to get many smaller meals. Also how deep is this pond? I admit I didn't read all the responses..sorry. The post about being too close to the bank is right on too. I know it's hard to sneek up on these big ones from shore, especially if the water is clear. If this is a manmade farm pond, I am gonna assume it is bowl shaped. These big bass are hiding somewhere during the day...right???

Need some advice
My $.02... I would throw a large hard swimbait (wake model) morning and night....problem is cost and equipment. The Akita swimbaits on Ebay are $10-$15 dollars but you have to have a rod able to throw it. Sounds like the bass are used to alot of food, but made not one BIG meal. Less energy expended for more food...maybe a winner. Good luck! By the way...I am sure everyone here wishes they had your problem!!!! ;D

Anyone know of bait or tackle shops for sale
You need to be near the ocean (which you are not) as live bait, at least here in Rhode island is where the "cash" is. With BPS, Dick's, Academy, Cabelas, etc. out there you have an uphill battle my friend. Only way I see it is to open a shop in a remote area where YOU are the only dog in the race and anglers have to come to you. And that is only if they don't have online access. I was with a guy at a remote tournament who had wi-fi connection and ordered a "special bait" he HAD to have, then paid to have it OVERNIGHTED!!!! I think it was like $50.00 for three bags of baits!!! Damm internet!!!

Few if any pro anglers are from the Northeast. Why?
No doubt...winters suck here....! Almost over... What really sucks is this time of year there will be a couple of 58* days, then back in the 20s and 30s. It plays on ya mind man!!!

Leader to braid....knots or swivels??
Hey all, Gonna set up at least one spinning rod this season with braid and a flouro leader. Just wondering what most guys prefer....direct tie line to leader, or swivel? I grabbed a few Spro power swivels in #10 35 lb. test....VERY tiny. So small in fact, I might need my specs to use them!! ;D. Please weigh in!!! Alan (bassnajr)

Martens and VanDam's exchange on the final day.
Farmer I thought the same thing...either that or he better get a new rod sponsor!!! ;D

Few if any pro anglers are from the Northeast. Why?
Were making a run at it!!!lol The short fishing season is probably the #1 answer. There are some great sticks up here...just don't get as much attention.

Martens and VanDam's exchange on the final day.
He did ALMOST knock Kreit's hat off...and if you look at the tape he says "Sorry" to him when it happens. Again, I don't think KVD likes Martens or Kreit.(he labeled him the Squirrel and kept that going!) If you win the Classic...it's your moment. Time for congrats is later, and I would say that was the case. KVD actually said in an interview (I believe on bassmaster.com) that there are guys out there on tour that "hang" together and guys that don't but they are all civil or "like" each other. and Flip....as far as editing goes..there was NO editing in the taped conversation mentioned above...and I feel that conversation between martens and KVD speaks VOLUMES about the situation.

Martens and VanDam's exchange on the final day.
Martens is a wreck. KVD is in alot of folks heads, but he has a vacation home in Martens noodle. I do not believe they like each other...maybe they are civil for the sake of their B.A.S.S. handlers, but anyone who can read people can see that. If I had to listen to Martens say one more time, "Were all good friends out here." I was gonna scream. Too bad too...he is a great angler but lacks that extra "mental" aspect of KVD. IMO.

Why does everyone buy the lures that win The Classic
If you are a collector or for nostalgia. It would be nice to have one signed if you were a collector. I am not a collector. I bought one of the 1.5 and 2.5 because I was adding to my crank arsenal this year anyway and I liked the color. H2O baits (Academy) makes a similiar color, and it worked well. Plus they were 20% off at Dicks this week!!!

How close is to close?
Some local rules say as RW stated a certain distance if anchored or if the trolling motor is down etc. Common sense is a good rule of thumb. Don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to you. If someone is fishing down a shoreline I wouldn't jump in front of them...but would follow behind them at a cast or two distance. If they are not moving or at anchor, I would go around them on a wide angle. Comminication is also key. I think most people get more upset when you pretend that there not even in the area. Common courtesy.
