  1. Good to see ya! I'm a sophmore Texas A&M student on the Aggie Anglers team! Hope to see you at the National this year!!!
  2. From this: To this: We catch the BIG ones!
  3. I once used plastic bugs I made in my "Creepy Crawler Oven" when I was a child... (kind of like soft plastics) to catch a few bream and bass. ;D lol Also, me and a friend were catching catfish on dough balls in a small pond when he decided to make a pole by tying some line on a long stick, then put a dough ball on the hook, set it in the water next to the bank, and pulled out a 2lb bass. Got to love the childhood memories...
  4. Zoom everything.
  5. Well Kozak... I will tell you... Texas A&M is the place to go for a major in Wildlife Science and Business, I go there. AND I am also on the Texas A&M bass club, the Aggie Anglers. TRUST ME, fishing these College Bass clubs can be a great ticket to getting sponsers and moving your way up the ladder. For example... you can fish at a University club and just have to beat out 20-25 anglers to be on your way to a National Championship and getting awesome publicity (compared to having to compete against MANY MANY more for sponsors). This thing is BLOWING UP! College bass fishing is growing tremendously every year and more and more huge sponsers are catching on. And with not too many anglers in these college clubs, and the sport growing...RIGHT HERE, and RIGHT NOW, is your best chance to make it. TRUST ME. Plus, the college tournaments are great because you are also getting your education, a much needed asset for the future. I'm telling you man... this is the way to go. Hope to see fishing at A&M next year! ;D
  6. LBH you better be watching your back on the next road trip... lol ;D
  7. Lol Yes, I know how "type" is spelled, that was on purpose... for a reason. Obviously didn't get the point across though, as seen in your last post. ;D
  8. lurn 2 tipe.
  9. I'm talking about actually WIN a tournament instead of getting second. ;D LOL. Seriously, it's like he has a runners up curse! But he may break it tomarrow, and get a little better lead on KVD in the points. I say good for him.
  10. BINGO Fivebasslimit! Those are the hooks I used and really think they work pretty good. I never used those Tru-turn hooks, they just look cheap and have no Offset to keep your worm up. Those Eagleclaw L045's are the ones, and I'm going to order some. ;D
  11. When my dad got me into worm fishing, just about all he used was these hooks that looked like they had been bent in the middle. I knew it was suppose to be like that and figured it made the hook do something different. I grew up using those hooks and they seemed to work really well. Now, you can't hardly find them, or atleast I can't. My question is, does anyone else use these? And for those of you that have actually used them before, what kind of effect do you think they have? I just remember never really having any trouble what so ever hooking bass and keeping them on. Of course, all i used back then were worms and not creature baits and so on.
  12. Oh I forgot. These small Walmart brand worms with a small u tail. ONLY in pink. (Actually called Purple or something, they just look pink.) I've killed before with those things. The Pink small ones are the only ones i would use.
  13. Touche FileMob!
  14. OH and the Chatterbait and Senko. ;D :
  15. Im guessing the lean-rich knob.
  16. Awwww.... : LBH remembered me and my boat. I'm touched. lol
  17. Here's another example. This fish weighed 4.5 lbs.
  18. Just FYI Matt, using steel wool on aluminum can be bad. Something like it can get into the aluminum then the steel wool rusts.
  19. Does anyone have any pointers on fishing THICK cattails? I'm fishing on this small 450 acre lake in Texas with the cattails everywhere in the 6" - 4' range. During a few Januray and Feb trips, i noticed the bass were burried deep into the middle of these patches, unable to get to them. (I could hear them feeding.) On a recent trip, I believe they've moved to the outside of them. I caught a couple with a baby-brush hog along the edges and in the thinner areas but not much luck. My question is, does anyone have any experience with these thick reeds, and any suggestions on when an where the bass will be? And what to catch them on?
  20. Oh yea i forgot... As Clipper said, get good grades in High School! Take advanced classes if your up to it. Also, GET INVOLVED. I can't tell you how important that is. In college classes specialized in informing us what to do to get to the position you want to be in they preach this. Getting invloved in your community by volunteering for organizations like CAST and other outdoor activities is a must. Later, in High School and College experience is another thing you need. Experience working in the field, or on the lake.
  21. Becoming a pro is my ultimate dream also, but because it is such a difficult status to accomplish, you must have a plan. I am currently a freshmen at Texas A&M University. When choosing my major i thought about the things I enjoy (fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and computers) so i could incorporate them into a career. It was either a computer field or Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. I chose Wildlife and that is what my major currently says. This degree prepares you in the field of wildlife (and fisheries) management and conservation. You can also specialize in aquaculture, wildlife management, vertabrate zoology, etc to narrow the fields. Students graduating with this degree go on the be game wardens, wildlife or fisheries biologists, conservationists, and many more. To be honest, I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate from college. I'm still trying to think my life through and settle on something. Again, my major is currently Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences but I am thinking about switching to Spatial Sciences or Engineering technology. My point is, to become a Wildlife biologist the Bachelor degree you are looking for is Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. It may be called something different at other colleges. (like Wildlife biology) Once you complete that a Masters degree may be in place. It's never to early to start researching areas of your interest. I waited to long. Search university websites near you (or anywhere if you dont mind to distance) for Wildlife Biology, and read up on their programs. See if it interests you. Hope this helps you kid.
  22. Who wants to test their skills and instincts at developing a gameplan? Heres my scenerio... I'm fishing Lake Somerville, TX this weekend. 11,500 acres Max Depth: 38 ft Water level: only .1' low Clarity: Murky Water Temp: Approx 59-63 degrees Very little shorline cover or structure. Pic below Important: There is a cold front blowing in this week. The low is going from about 63 degrees today to approx. 32 saturday morning. Clear, Sunny skies with little wind (3-6 mph) on Sat. I know this isn't much information, but how do you think you would approach this lake looking to catch some bass. Where would you focus, what baits would you use, what colors, techniques, etc, and why?
  23. ??? Are you looking to be banned or something? Something don't sound right. :-?
  24. He would have been lucky not to get smacked up side the head with a paddle around me! ;D Seriously though he could have been mistaken and something BAD could have happened!
