first jig bass is a good one! (pics)

Featured Replies

well after many tries with the jig without any success i was ready to just throw them away. a friend and i decided to take his bass buster to a new pond we wanted to try. and there was lots of brush so i thought id give it a try one last time. well i caught about 10 fish. half on the jig and half on senkos. the 2 in the pics we guess at around 5-6 pounds. didnt bring the scale :(. brought one to the boat over 7 (which wouldve broke the old PB) most likely but it got off as my friend was grabbing it. to bad! but it was a great day and i love jig fishing now! feel free to guess what they weigh.

PS-sorry for the white backround. our last pond was recognized and has been way over fished so gotta keep this place private.

Very nice fish but my guess is that they are more like 3-4lb. Nice fish anywhere! ;)

mayybe 4.5 but no way in the 3's. they were 21 and 22 inches long. im guessing there just smaller looking in the pics

3.5-4lb, but none the less, that's still a good quality bass and it's something even more to be proud of because you're now getting confidence in a great bait!

Congrats!

hey bass slayer how do you know were i am if i live like 1500 miles away?

No way those fish are in the 3 pound range.... and no way are they in the 6 pound range. Im guessing they are both in the 4 pound rage.... probably high 4s

Nice fish.

It's very hard to judge weight by a picture, but most "5-6 lb" unweighed bass are about 3 lbs. Almost all 7-8 lb bass are 4-5 lbs.

I agree with RW!  Nice fish though!  Next time remember the scale...  :)

well im not the arguing type but i gott defend this great fish/ the bottom bass was 22 inches long i measured it. and according to the calculator on this sight with a 12 inch girth which we didnt measure but im almost sure it was bigger because the fish was fat would equal out to 7.1 pounds. so 5 is generous. i guess the pics really dont do it justice

This one is 7.1lbs. I'm not trying to prove anything but size can be deceiving!

By the way I'm 6'1" and 230lbs. It also depends on size of the person that's holding the fish.

ya that fish is really big. but how many 22 inch fish way 3 pounds. please. im not throwin out random numbers. well i found my scale finnaly so from now on i'll get actual numbers. if it ever stops raining. i dont know if i live in texas or seatte right now. storms alost everyday!

There are so many factors that go into how big a fish seems in a picture. That last pic I posted the bass looks a lot bigger than 2 pounds because I have my arm stretched out toward the camera. I have another pic of a 1.5 pound bass that looks like 3 pounds. I also used to have a pic of a 3.5 pound bass that looked less than 2. Thing is a bass can look bigger or smaller in a pic because of many factors. How far away you stand from the camera is a big one. Another one is how far out you hold the fish. T-Rigs second pic makes that bass look like a world record. Hes close to the camera and holding the fish out. I always try to get pictures like this. Thing is when your alone you often have a random photographer who walks a mile away before takeing the picture makeing your nice fish look like a dink. Also you may have a bass that is realy big shoulder to shoulder which never shows up in a picture. A pic of a bass like this will always make it seem the fish weighs less than it is. Yeah from what you said about the length of the fish they should be probably about 5 pounds. They just dont look that big in the picture. I realy dont know though. I still say they probably around 4.8 - 4.9 pounds.

well were not fighting over a record or anything so i'll stop it here. not a 3. not a 7. somewere in between. im just hoping to get bigger bass day by day. itll be awhile though because almost everylake around me has seen 10 ft of rise in the last couple days so the water is pure mud. which i hate fishing in

It's time to throw those lipless cranks and spinnerbaits. Those are great fish you caught no matter what! ;)
