  1. Well, you may not be able to put a deck in either without them getting to tipsy, but floors would be fine. What kind of water are you going to be on? Small ponds and lakes? V's handle better in rough water BUT i believe the jon would be a little more stable to stand in. Oh... and you can actually get some okay speed from a 1236 from a 5-6hp motor, as long as you dont load it down.
  2. yeeesss.... all BUT pee'd their pants... : LMAO j/k
  3. 1957 Lonestar Commander 14' Aluminum ... it's an antique ;D I'm restoring it and putting a floor and front deck in.
  4. Lmfao. He really caught one!?!? ;

  7. I wouldn't be too suprised if he did catch that fish on a beetle spin... I've seen some massive fish caught on those things... none 13.13 pounds though
  8. 1. Spinner bait 2. Slow rolled 3. 4' where he could just see it 4. Along rocky banks 5. rock dropoffs. Instinct (or guess lol)
  9. Hello Jim!!! Welcome to the board and welcome to the sport! It truely is a great thing to pass on to the future generations. Hope you have a great time in your new boat... fell free to ask ANY question about bassin' you need help on, you can learn ALOT from this board. Oh yea... and beware of the...the... bait monkey. ;D Have fun!
  10. Could you be more specific about the shape of the bow? Is it a V shape? is a flat bow? Pic would help too. You could mount a 2X4 on the front like alot of others i have seen...
  11. I'm re-wiring the inside of an old trolling motor and it looks like the old wire that went to the battery was about 10 GA... Iv'e heard everywhere you should use 6 guage... so why does this one use 10?
  12. I'm pretty talented when it comes to creating videos... thought about having a future in it but decided to go into Fisheries Sciences. I'd love to make fishing videos but kinda scared to take our brand new digital camera on the lake... I might just take our old crappy analog one and deal with the poorer quality... o well.

  14. Ha! I didn't expect Rage Against The Machine
  15. CDX plywood coated with a couple coats of fiberglass resin, as robe said, would work just fine... keeps all the water out. It is also ALOT cheaper.
  16. That's a first-post for the ages ;D Welcome
  17. $60!?? Are you including the carpet? If so what carpet did you use? Did you use marine boat carpet or outdoor carpet LBH? I'm flooring mine and if i could get it down to $60 for the floors that would be awesome. I too suggest you floor it though... worth the money.
  18. What town do you live in... you could probably find something close to home. Check this site... it's a lot of Texas Bass clubs. The Cleburne Bass club may be a little far BUT they have tournaments on smaller lakes 500-1500 acres which could be nice for you. Or you are welcome to fish as a non-boater in many clubs.
  19. After you dock your boat, you can roll the winch strap out and hang it onto the back of the trailer (where the boat will meet it) then back your trailer to the water, park it, get the boat and drive it to the tailer, hook the winch strap on then walk on the trailer to the shore. Crank 'er up and go. I don't like going out by myself anyways so i would have a partner help me. To make the walking-on-trailer easier you can install step plates that you can make yourslef or buy from Bass Pro i think. Good luck
  20. I also have a 14' boat and I am creating a livewell for mine too. It depends on how you want it set up. You can make a portable livewell that can be removed from the boat when not needed or you can build one into it. You can use a portable aerator (recirculation pump) that just sits in a cooler and pumps water to the top and back in through spray bars, or you could drill holes into the cooler and have the pump outside of it to save room. Some people even go as far to make a pump-in-through-hull style if you wanted to go the extra step. I'm going to just use a 70 qt cooler with either the type that goes inside or the pump on the outside. This way, you use a can to fill the well or just hand a pump over the side and pump the water in. (coolers work great for livewells...they keep the water insulated and the more round the edges the better)
  21. I've got a load of info that i would be willing to share with you. I'm sending a PM. About the 14' being stable... it depends on how wide and deep it is. There are tons of different "14's" like 1436 1448 etc. I believe the 1436 can be a little tipsy if a deck is built so i wouldn't go under 1448. If your just standing in the floor of a 36 then you should be alright. Again i've done alot of research on the subject (Modifying jon boats) and may be able to help with any questions you have. Low Budget Hookers should be able to help too. You can check out his sweet boat here... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1119359773/0
  22. I assume the older bass get (which usually means the heavier) the smarter they get also. But that doesn't always mean that a 9 lb bass is smarter than a 3 lb as the 3lb could be an older male. Hopefully I'm right ;D
  23. Lake Fork is great... the only problem is it's so popular now, theres usually ALOT of people on it. People come from all over the world to fish this lake.
  24. Heres something interesting... i don't know if it works for bass too. My grandfather was catching catfish one day and instead of messing with the hook he would just cut the swallowed ones off and put the catfish in a basket. At the end of the day when he went to take the fish out every single swallowed hook was lying in the bottem of the basket and the fish were fine. If it was me i would definantly just cut the line.
