The Weirdest Thing?
1. A friend was casting a small spinnerbait and hooked something big. Broke off right at the bank. He tied on another spinner bait (same kind) cast out and hooked something big again. Broke off at shore so he gave up. After saying that i wasn't fishing that night (just visiting) i picked up a rod that was sitting against a tree and had a Texas rigged worm on it. Cast it out and hooked something big. It was dark so as im fighting the fish in the line comes to a stop and i look to see my worm at the tip of my rod. I had hooked my buddies line that broke off... We pulled it in to find a 5 lb Catfish with BOTH spinnersbaits in its mouth!! lol i still have the picture somewhere. 2. When i was younger, i hooked a good Catfish in a small pond and it broke off where the bobber was. Every once in a while i'd see this bobber sking accross the water then go under. I tied on a hook, followed it around, the threw out and hooked the bobber!! CAREFULLY, i reeled in a 5 lb cat. 3. Again, catfishing a small pond my friend tied a piece of line and hook on a STICK. He put bread on it, layed it in the pond about 2 foot out, and caught a 2lb bass. lol. Ahh, good times. ;DTheres so many interesting things that happen when your fishing. I can't recall them all.

Bass tournaments on tape
Hell yea... it seems everytime they make a game it was made by non-fishing programmers who don't understand all aspects of bass fishing. They either need someone to emerge with a background in programming and is a bass fisher, or hire some real bass fishing fanatics to show them how its done. ;D I'VE GOT IT... they could just ask all of us here what they should put in the game... you know the bass resource group can come together and design one hell of a fishing game. lol

JON BOAT - Weight Reduction ?
Is that what it was gutted, with nothing in it? If so, theres not much you can do. The bench seats provide structural integrity for the sides. Also, they have flotation inside them to keep your boat at the lakes surface, even if it gets swamped. Like i said, not much you can do.

Electric baby bass boat *(Pics added)*
Hey LBH this caught my eye as I was searching used boats near home. It's like a small 14 ft bass boat i guess? I don't know what the inside looks like but maybe you could deck it out? http://dallas.craigslist.org/boa/221027584.html

Cold Weather Gear Thread Again
I know it's not so much cold weather gear as it is rain gear, but I was wondering if anyone uses Frogg Toggs? How do they do? Does it also keep the wind out like it does rain?

How's She Look???
Thanks everyone... You're right Madhouse, Lonestars are tough, there's no telling what kind of beating it took before we got it but we've beat the hell out of it in our big pond. After all these years, and not being repaired once before this, it had the SLIGHTEST leak aroud the seams. I fixed that! ;D Rattlinrogue, I used Interlux Brightside Topcoat for the finish and YES! you can use it on fiberglass. Go to www.yachtpaint.com and you can get all the info you need. I looked up the details for this paint in particular... here's what they suggest... BARE FIBERGLASS: In Good Condition Begin by scrubbing well using soap and water and a stiff brush. Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Wipe a small area with a clean rag that has been wetted with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202. While the surface is still wet, wipe with a clean, dry rag. Continue this process until the entire surface has been cleaned. Sand with 220-320 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue. In Poor Condition Clean as above. Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Apply Brightside Primer. Another thing... I rolled and brushed this boat. I didn't have a sprayer so i used a method called roll and tip. If you look at the closeups on my site, it turned out PRETTY DARN GOOD! OH YEA! I almost forgot! Check this out: The Originals! ;D I'm putting them back on the transom.

How's She Look???
Well, I'm not done with it yet but I finished painting my 14' 1957 Lonestar and got my trailer fixed up. I've been planing to put a small front deck, floors, and alot of accessories since I can remember, but right now I'm just going to fish without them because ive GOT to hit the lake. This boat has been sitting by our barn for YEARS and I decided to make it lake worthy. Oh yea and check out the dinky tailer! It's about the same age as the boat, that's why i'm keeping it. Here's the before and after photos: I've created a website showing almost EVERY step of the process... I'll update it as I add the deck, floor, and anything else to the boat. Hope you enjoy! ;D http://hachiesting06.tripod.com/my14lonestar/

Etching Primer...
Are you painting a bare aluminum boat or is there paint on it? Also, would ordering it off the net be a problem... easier to find.

Question about a jon boat
Holy Smokes... get a hole in that and your gonna be waving goodbye to it as it sinks to the bottom. You are WAY over it's Max Capacity.
-
Help with seat
If you can get to the other side of the aluminum, you can just stainless steel bolt the wood onto it. If not then i think you can use toggle bolts.

Question about a jon boat
A deep sidewall helps with stability too.

Fish finder problem/question...
Maybe there is a secret underwater cave below the bottom of the lake stretching to 1000 feet below the surface in which prehistoric animals roam?!?

Need Your Deck Ideas!!!!
On that boat, i would just put it on top of the bench seats, but i guess that's just me.

replacing a transom
$100 to $200!?! Here's what I did... My transom was rotted horribly so I decided to replace it like you. The board was shaped wierd around the outside so getting it in was a problem. I eventually had to remove the corner plates and all the metal around the transom to get the new board in. I drilled the rivets out which was pretty simple and when it came time the put it back together, I used stainless steel bolts with finish washers on the outside... If you ever have to replace it again it will be alot easier. Sorry I lost the pic of the finsihed product but here is all the metal removed: The boat is upside down right now (for painting) otherwise I'd just snap you another photo.

Anybody ever caught a bass on a spinnerbait?
THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING 'BOUT!!! ;D 8-)
-
Is this a good price?
If what you say is true... Hell yea. Make sure you check the decking everywhere to see if any of it's rotted... $250!?! I would be checking EVERYTHING... something seems fishy but if everything you said checks out... then i say go for it. Even if it needs some work 250 is pretty low.

The Bass Fishing Matrix?
Did you mean something else other than bassresource.com??? :-?

Boat Planing Question
So... Let me get this straight... If I we're to have say a 9.9 hp motor and an 18hp motor and neither we're strong enough to get my fully loaded boat onto plane... then I would be going the same speed (Hull speed) with both of them? :-? Can a boat only go about 5-6 mph before getting onto plane???

Need Your Deck Ideas!!!!
#1. DO NOT use pressure treated wood! The chemicals react to aluminum and can corrode it. #2. You can use marine grade plywood which can be expensive or you can get cdx and coat it in fiberglass resin to waterproof it. It won't last AS long but should last quit a while. Whether or not it can take a deck depends on how it feels and acts on the water. How wide is your boat? I suggest you take it on the water and stand on top of the front bench seat (if this is how high your deck will be) and move around a bit. If it feels alright, go for it!

Trolling motor question from a newbie
Why not mount the transom mount on the front of the boat? :-?

Why Assume the current WR is a Lie??
Seriously... just because no one has caught a bigger one since doesn't neccesarily make it a fake. The prize was $75 in merchandise in Field and Stream Mag. The world record bass meant almost nothing back then... he would have no reason to go through the trouble of fraud.
