  1. It's never good when one of your picks says "This is probably my worst tournament EVER!" .... > :-/ (Scott Martin...)
  2. By the way, I live near Arlington, and I go to school in College Station at Texas A&M.
  3. Yea, they're spawning on that lake because it's a powerplant lake, and has hot water discharge... I fished a tourny in a storm Feb 16th there, LITERALLY like a few days before they started...actually i think some had started, but the bad weather had pushed them off. I caught 4 doobers to weigh in though, and a few fish in the 2-4lb range.
  4. Yea, they are two favorites for a tournament on toho...
  5. By the way, how does y'alls standings look after day 1? Mine aren't too hot... :-/ I TRUELY believe my guys would have rocked them if the weather hadn't of been like it is. Mine are sitting in: 6th 12th 21st 60th 71st 79th 87th 94th 158th and 164th.
  6. I went back to the past tourny's held on Toho at around the same time of year, and looked for guys that were pretty consistent, then I matched and combined that with locals, guys' strengths that compliment with the lake, etc.... you can spend alot of time researching, or you can buy the players advantage if you think it would help, or you could just take a lucky, lucky shot at it.
  7. ;D Holy Crap! Thats a whole lot of Beavers! Yea... Atleast you'll never get tired of one Beaver... ;D 8-)
  8. I just bought one and like it, it's a nice reel. I find the twitchin bar not that useful, as you have to take your hand off the reel handle to twitch using the twitchin bar. i like to keep my hand on the handle so i can set the hook and start reeling the fish in fast. I just twitch the bait my wrist instead.
  9. Just bought a Megaforce... I like it, it's a nice reel. I quickly found out that the twitchin bar is pretty pointless and probably won't buy a twitchin bar reel again. To twitch the bait with the bar, you have to take your reeling hand off the reel handle so it can turn. I like to keep my hand on it, so that I'm ready to set the hook and start a crankin'. So, I just twitch the 'old fashioned' way, with my wrist.
  10. Right. You get more bids when you start lower... and actually will probably end up finishing higher than it would have otherwise. Never know though. The last few hours is when it REALLY heats up though!
  11. So THAT's where they got the name 'Sweet Beaver'................
  12. 10 yards would more than likely be a 'pitch' than a cast for me... And you can get that pretty darn accurate.
  13. Or, if you wanted to do the seats like that, you could just buy the pedastul bar that goes between the boat seat and the reciever in the deck. That way, you can just easily take it out when you don't want to use it, and replace it when you want to sit up on the deck.
  14. What do y'all wear when fishing in the rain? I know temperature may also be a factor of what kind of footwear, so lets say low of 40 and high of 65 throughout the day. Do y'all wear waterproof boots, or cover your shoes somehow? (Maybe with plastic shoe covers?)
  15. I wonder how the boat would sit without the big motor and all that weight back there? That could Possibly be an issue... but I'm not sure. Obviously, the back end wouldn't sit as low in the water, and 9.9hp engines aren't very long. I guess a jack plate or something would help that... ? :-?
  16. No doubt. I have been here a pretty good while (since March of 2005), and I can honestly testify that this forum is, and has always been, just a great bunch of guys, supportive in every way possible, and hopefully it will continue to be so for a long time. You see ALOT of forums with just garbage, insults, etc., and this is NOT one of those places. I just want to say great job by Glenn, all the moderators, and especially all the great members. Email? :-? Let's see that fish ON THIS POST!
  17. Yea, and a guy in my College Bass Club (Texas A&M Aggie Anglers) who qualified for that tournamnet by winning the FOX National Collegiate Bass Championship was sitting in 5th after the first day!!!! Even against those seasoned pros! He ended up 16th overall (Trevor Knight) and is headed to the Texas Bass Classic.
  18. Pitching, you start with the bait in your hand, Flipping is pulling out line between the reel and the first guide with your opposite hand (hand not holding the rod), and "flipping" the bait to your target then releasing the line in your hand.
  19. I love that clip... just love it. Amazes me everytime i see it. THAT is desire right there. lol ;D
  20. 3lber off of the CRS model. They seem pretty good to me.
  21. Right. When I said "especially looking for deals." Then suggested the Daiwa, I wasn't claiming that was a "deal," just suggesting a reel that was close to $50. I didn't mean to associate that reel with the word "deal." Sorry.
  22. C'mon guys... you can find at least Decent reels for that, especially looking for deals. How about the new Daiwa Megaforce with the Twitchin bar? Priced at $59 at BPS.
  23. I'm 20 now, and this is how I was taught by my Dad to worm fish. That's just about all he would fish with, and I've been Texas rigging like that since I was about 8. I now apply it to many other soft plastics also.
  24. Are you sure he doesn't mean 2' deep, 4' wide?... :-? Are you sure you don't mean 2' deep, 4' wide? :-?.... lol. Seriously though... What is going to be the LENGTH of this boat.... seriously...
  25. JEEEZ this is an old post... a good one though.
