Best rod for under $150
Dont overlook the Shimano Crucial, 129.99$, i think it is strong competition among the others listed. The avid is 170$.

sad news
Thats said to hear. How weird, a man just drowned here in Texas at lake Benbrook. He was out camping with some family and went off to fish but never came back. The family called the police around 9 am and then the body was found later. I think i heard something about him having a seizure but don't quote me on that. Stay safe guys and gals.

Fishing line
Spinning or Casting? My personal favorite for Baitcasters is Trilene Professional Fluorocarbon. Baitcasting since its used 90% of the time.

Fishing line
Just out of curiosity, what deficiencies are present in the lines you've used that you're trying to improve on? The Stren has never really presented much problems for me, the Yo Zuri i tried was 12# and had way too much memory, Trilene XL wasn't bad either and the BPS Excel i just didn't like 1 bit. Like i said i think im being too picky when it comes to lines. I was more or less asking for suggestions on some new things to try since i haven't been 100% completely happy with anything i fished with.

Anyone see the EliteXC fights last night?
Kimbo didn't do too well? I have seen a ton of his videos and he looks like he can hold his own and much much more. But then again that isn't against professional fighters...

Fishing line
I am searching for the ultimate line. I have tried Stren,Yo Zuri (not ultrasoft), Trilene XL, and BPS excel. I know alot of people swear by the Yo Zuri Ultrasoft but i don't like the fact that i have to order it online just to get it. I think im being too picky :-/. What else is worth trying? I plan on trying Sufix Elite and Siege, Berkley Big Game and i might order the YZ Ultrasoft. Any other suggestions?

What about you?
Do you fish with only 1 brand or do you use many? I'm in the stage of trying out new products so i have a few Shimano rods and reels and a few Abu reels and some other various rods. I dont think il ever be a 1 brand kinda guy, i like my Revos as much as the Citicas and i love my Shimano rods like i do my Fenwick's. How about you guys?

Best Time to Use Baitcaster vs. Spinning
X2. Spinning tackle is usually used when baits are to light to fish with baitcasting tackle. In most cases a spinning reel takes lighter line and lighter line usually means a lighter rod which makes it easier to cast lighter baits. Baitcasters take heavier line which means a heavier rod and heavier baits. This doesn't mean a weightless worm cant be cast with a medium heavy or heavy rod but it wouldn't be easy. The best topwater time is early morning or late evening but don't be afraid to toss it out in the middle of the day, i got my first topwater bite at 4 o clock in the afternoon.

Which spinning rod?
I use a 7' medium/fast Shimano Compre, i absolutely love my Compre although if i could go back i would pick the Crucial. I use that rod for all of my spinning tackle, light- weightless T-rigs, senkos and shaky head rigs.

I caught the dragon. Megabass Shihru paired with a Calcutta 100DC
Very nice setup Robert! I LOVE the gold, it matches so well with the Calcutta. If that were mine, it would have saliva marks on it 'cuz I couldn't stop licking it. ;D I can't even bring myself to buy a GLX because I'm afraid I won't enjoy it becasue I'd baby it. Pffft, i could never buy a 300+$ rod because it would never get fished. I baby my Crucials and those are only 140$
