  1. Just bought my third Saturday, early Christmas present. In order of purchase: Shimano Clarus 6'6" M/Shimano Stradic 2500FH BPS Bionic Blade 5'6" L/Shimano Symetre 1000 BPS Extreme 7' M/Shimano Citica 200D I know the Bait Monkey is unrelenting but I hope I am done with rods/reels for awhile.

  3. What the heck I'll give it a shot. Assuming I have to take tackle I own: Rod - Shimano Clarus 6'6" M Reel - Shimano Stradic 2500FH Line - Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon #10 1. GYCB 4" senko watermelon/cream laminate 2. Mepps dressed spinner firetiger #4 3. LC 78 pointer american shad 4. LC flat mini SR chart. shad 5. Evolution jig 3/8 blue/black w/Paca chunk blue/black craw trailer.
  4. Any colors you are partial to? Thanks
  5. Yes it seems like there will need to be a lot of practice involved. Fear of the unknown had kept me away before but I look forward to the challenge now because the reward sounds worth it.
  6. I haven't used either of these lures yet. I am curious is one Megabass Vision 110 worth the price of two Lucky Craft Pointers?
  7. After reading this forum for awhile now and soliciting some advice on baitcasting equipment I felt comfortable enough to pull the trigger and buy one. After looking at a bunch of different options online last night I decided I would just wait until closer to Spring. However, after taking my sons for a ride to the BPS about 70 miles away to let them watch the fish feeding action I couldn't walk away from the Citica/BPS Extreme combo. I had decided the Citica was the reel I would eventually get but when I saw how nice the rod was, it was a done deal. For $110 after the rebate it seemed like a pretty great deal. Now ice out can't come soon enough. I want you veteran anglers to know how much I appreciate the knowledge you so willingly share on this and other forums. I am sure others feel the same. Thanks again and Happy Holidays to all!! ;D
  8. I am considering purchasing a baitcast rig and am curious whether it makes any difference as to what type of line I use with it. I have read one article that says fluorocarbon is a nightmare and another whose author prefers fluorocarbon. Your thoughts please? Thanks.
  9. Wow after reading how great using a baitcaster is I almost feel bad about upgrading my spinning gear this year!
  10. Sorry, would not let me post the link.
  11. www.another site.com This site has a larger selection that Delo's but Delo's prices are better. I placed my order with Delo's on Monday. I will let you know how the service/shipping goes. I have not ordere from another site before.
  12. I have had success with Blue Pearl w/lg Silver (031), Blue & Black laminate (904), Red Shad laminate (900) but my favorite is Watermelon/Cream laminate (901). ;D
  13. Thanks for the tip. I hope you find the site useful. www.deloscustomtackleshack.com
  14. I hear ya brother. Until this summer I hadn't fished since I was a kid using worms on a hook. Now I can't believe how weak I have become when facing off with the Bait Monkey. Does he ever go away?
  15. Not sure if this is okay to do but I want to mention an online tackle shop I stumbled upon this weekend,deloscustomtackleshack.com. I spent quite a bit of time searching for the best pricing on Lucky Craft lures and Delo's was the best I could find. They don't have as big of an overall variety as some others but seem to concentrate on the higher end product. I picked up some Evolution Jigs, Cavitron Buzzbaits and LC hardbaits. Just passing the info along and again I am new to the forums so I hope it is okay to do this.
  16. Curse you Bait Monkey! I fought you off for a week now, every night trolling the internet looking at all those lures shiny and new, just knowing they would catch fish. Minimizing the page when my wife comes into the room so as not to get caught ogling that which is not mine. Searching, searching, searching for the best prices as if somehow that would justify spending more money on fishing equipment that I probably won't even be able to use until March. A week with my finger hovering over the "submit order" button several times mustering the strength to fight you off...until today. Now a new agony as I wait for my "fix" to ship to me cursing my new nemesis, UPS. Heaven forbid a "backorder" email arrives. Curse you Bait Monkey it is going to be a long, long winter. :-/
  17. Looks like a very well thought out design. I especially like the idea that it stands up like the Evolution Jig and the fact that you have options as to how to rig the worm. Well done Bobby.
  18. Thanks everyone, the information has been very helpful. I have become interested in learning to catch fish using a jig. My question: is it absolutely neccessary to use such heavy line? The reason I ask is that I presently have only one rod/reel so I would like to be as versatile as I can. Right now my reel is strung with 8# mono but I am thinking of switching to 10# fluoro when the ice thaws. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  19. If I choose to use a sweet beaver as a trailer does it matter what size or do I just sort of match it to the size of the jig?
  20. Great idea for a post. After a 35 year break I took to fishing again this summer. Little did I know how powerful the bait monkey can be. I am quite sure I don't need all of the items I have bought to this point but it sure is fun! Yesterday I bought my first Lucky Craft lures...lord help me and my bank account now! ;D
  21. Thanks Tin! I go on these websites and the number of styles, colors, sizes and shapes is a bit overwhelming. If I could buy some of everything it would be different. I thought I would try a few. I like fishing with soft plastics so figured I might enjoy these too.
  22. I have read some of the current posts concerning jigs and how to fish them and the information has been very helpful. What I have read has lead me to more questions though: 1. What are the differences, if any, between finesse, swimming and flippin/pitchin jigs? 2. Is it necessary to use a trailer and if so what works best? Thanks for the help! :-/
  23. With the ponds in this area icing up I am left to checking out the lure websites and planning my purchases. I was just looking at some LC lures today and while they do look great I was wondering if they could really be worth that much money. Thanks to all of you who have posted here. The discussion/information has been very helpful.
  24. Hello all, I live in Rochester and am starting to fish again after many years off. I am a bank fisherman. I have fished Long Pond, Buck Pond, Irondequoit Bay and a few local golf course ponds with my two sons ages 10 and 5. I am loving it and look forward to opportunities to fish other locations. Any suggestions you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks.
