  1. If it runs good it's a good deal. At that price it would be good to get then upgrade later and at that price you could resell and get your money back. Boat looks great.
  2. I've been having good luck every weekend for the past 5 weekends. It started with small dinks 5 weeks ago .5 to 1 lbrs. as temps warmed started getting 2 o 4 lbrs the week before last. Last weekend fishing was tough with the wind Saturday caught 2 2 lbrs spent more time fighting the wind. The bank fishers were not catching any. Another boat was going for crappie only caught one in the time they were there.
  3. I'm running two (same age and size) batteries in parell on a 15ft Ranger. Keeps the trolling motor and fish finder running all day 12 to 14 hours with full power even when the wind is blowing. I don't use the gas motor much I'll fish my way to the next spot I want to try.
  4. I run 3 29sr walmart batteries one for starting and 2 for tm run in parrell. I usualy run all day with the trolling motor. I can replace all three at the cost of some of the others want for just one.
  5. 4/26 Satuday Put 9 2-4lb fish in the boat today water temps 55 to 57 no sign of spawning yet. I did get two on top water.
  6. We caught 9 today 2 were dinks the rest were 1 to 2 lbs.
  7. Not really. The wife and I hauled it in the pickup the first two years we had it. She lost intrest loading and unloading third year so I got a trailer for it. The only reason I went to the Ranger was I needed to get up and walk around more often. My hips give me problems if I sit for long periods.
  8. My 14ft was made in 1958 older than me lol it is solid with no leaks. If you can buy it right you can get a bigger motor 2.5 will only just move a 14ft. I run a 15 horse on mine.
  9. Just remember this one will take some work so if they want more than you want to pay just give them your phone number and walk away you might get a call a few days later willing to sell.
  10. I'd start out by seeing if they have any intrest in getting it out of theyard. just a few hundred till you get a better back ground on the boat, motor and trailer. Then go up from there.
  11. I love it. I did upgrade to a 16 ft Ranger last winter but just can't part with the jon. great for the skinny water.
  12. I would go knocking. Bass Pro will still have the boat if you can't cut a deal. If someone came up and offered cash and had it in hand might even let my 14ft go.
  13. My fishing partner (wife) and I are going to take the short drive to Brown Co. Lake.
  14. Here is another idea if it needs rebuilding. http://www.seilermarine.com/outboard-recycle/mercury/mercury_powerhead.htm http://www.outboardexchange.com/
  15. You can drill through the mount and use a long pad lock and chain to the transom struts.
  16. Sounds like everything went well. Good luck and tight lines... Vic
  17. I don't know about the 45 horse Merc. My brother and I both have older 50 horse Merc. he has had his for years and I just picked mine up last year. He told me that there is a pin that may drop out when you pull the lower unit off. It's a real pain to get back in when putting everything back togeather. I chickened out and let the marina do it. water pump, tune up and lower unit oil changed $122.00 Not having to worry did I do it right was worth the money. Good luck if you try it on your own.
  18. Water temps here in norhtern Ks still cold 47 deg. Did put a 1.5 lber in the boat on a shaky head worm bounced on the bottom.

  20. Welcome to BR. There is a few glass rebuilds but not as many. Search glass boats. I have a 76 Ranger but got lucky It's all solid. Good luck Once again welcome.
  21. I'll try upgrading. Don't bump an ad on my account I'll find a way around it.
  22. Try some electronics contact cleaner on the slide. You can get this at radio shack.
  23. Thanks Wayne When I saw the 192 - 200 khz I was thinking radio freq. It will be different at audio freq.
  24. I spent the day on Brown Co. Lake. Lake temps were 44-45deg. Had only one hit using a coffee tube, I did not get the hook set > Going to try it again Saturday. One person on the bank was catching bluegill.
  25. Vintage If 88 is vintage. My 76 Ranger must be from the stone age ;D ;D Everything is solid so it must have been made of stone ;D ;D Tight lines Guys Vic
