  1. I think it's safe to say that the guys here wear polarized sunglasses for use while fishing. So your purchase was not a waste, rather it was a good investment. They'll really pay off come springtime when the bass are up shallow and spawning
  2. To be completely honest, you'll never really know but it sounds like that fish at least had a chance to survive its ordeal. The blood will clot at the injury, as previously stated, so you probably don't have to worry about it bleeding to death (I haven't heard about a fish version of Hemophilia).
  3. Yeah I would fish Mead but I don't really have the means to fish a big lake like that. I think I'll just stop by this Sunset Park that's not too far from the strip. Hopefully I'll catch something, because there's not much else for me to do there haha. Call me weird but I like the heat, I actually hope the heat keeps people/other fishermen away so I can have the whole lake to myself to figure out
  4. Some jigs wouldn't hurt
  5. Thanks QUAKE, that helps a lot! BigMoney, I have tried on some models but I only remember the Corbinas since they fit the best. When I saw the Blackfin and Riomar online I was interested in getting idea of how they might fit. Seems like I can't go wrong with the Corbinas though, thanks for the help guys!

Family trip to Vegas, any places that would make it worthwhile to bring my gear? I know there is Lake Mead but I'm not sure if the parents are willing to pay for a guided trip. So maybe a smaller lake that can be fished from shore? I recall seeing a place called Sunset Park, but it doesn't look that great.
  7. For the weight/float questions, add weight if you want the bait to get down the water column quicker. Since the bait will sink quicker, when you pull the bait up off the bottom, it'll go back faster and this can help get a reaction strike from a fish. So adding weight not only gives you some depth control, but it also can add variety to how you present a certain bait. As for floats, I've only seen them used with baitfish (like shiners) in bass fishing and they can produce some BIG fish. For other species, like crappie for example, you can use a float when you find a concentration of fish so that your bait is always in the strike zone. Then just sit back and wait for it to start bobbing and get pulled under!
  8. The traditional stripe along the length of the body is soooooooo overrated.
  9. Thanks guys, a couple more questions but in regards to sizing. I've tried on a pair of Corbinas and they fit pretty well. They have a frame size "ML", if another model has the same frame size will they fit the same? Also, how big is the difference between sizes?
  10. Ok, I'm going to try to keep this simple... I'm getting a pair of Costas and need help deciding between two lens colors: Copper and Silver Mirror (which has a copper base). So basically the question is what effect does a mirrored lens have on what we see. I could be using them at any time of day so a good all-around choice is what I'm looking for. Unfortunately there isn't a dealer near by so I'm really trying to get it right the first time. Thanks for any input!
  11. There are those days where you do everything right, but the fish just aren't taking the bait so you can set the hook. When that happens, use the frog as a way to search for active fish and then follow up with a weedless soft plastic pitched to where the blowup occurred. I've heard that you get about 30 seconds (maybe less) to get a bait back to where the strike was and be able to get bit. Or just switch back to the buzzbait since you already had success with it.
  12. Yep, I'm in the middle of taking all my finals. I've taken two already and have 3 more to go. One on Thursday, Monday, and Tuesday. After these are over with it's back home to CA and summer break. Time to kick back, relax, and go fishing Until then though.... Study, study, study... Good luck on your finals man, summer is right around the corner. Use the break as your motivation to study hard and it can also serve as your reward for when you are all done.
  13. For some reason, I don't think hope is going to cut it.
  14. Do you know what channel they're on? I think an ad said FX, but I'm pretty sure we don't get that channel in the dorms. It's not coming up on ESPN3 either. I can stream it online elsewhere, but I'd rather watch it on tv of course.
  15. Manchester United baby! Woot woot! But watching the game across the pond is something else. The way they play is so awesome, one, two touch passing, bursts of speed, and killer strikes on the ball, I love watching matches when I can!
  16. iTunes has "Home Sharing" where as long as two computers are connected to the same wireless connection you can transfer your library to your other computer. When you open iTunes on the other computer you're going to have to log in to your apple account to do home sharing I think, and you should be able to sync your iPod just fine like normal. I haven't had to do this in a while, but I hope this is helpful.
  17. Yeah they were one of the performers at our Spring Fling concert here at Penn so I checked them out. Some of their tracks I really like, I'll be keeping an eye on what they release as well.
  18. Trentemøller seems like an interesting group, they kind of remind me of a mellower/darker Ratatat, not on the dot, but I can sense a similarity, especially in the first video of them they had a guitarist. Ratatat utilizes some guitar in I think most of their tracks, definitely a plus for me. I like the rock feel of Ratatat and hip-hop from Glitch Mob.
  19. I'm across the country from home, and there's pretty much nowhere to fish here, sooo I didn't even bring my stuff... Looking back on it, I think that was a mistake. Actually it's probably the opposite, it allowed me to stay focused on school, but it still would have been nice to fish for one day of the weekend
  20. If being away at college counts as work then yeah, it's been keeping me from fishing since the fall. Surprised I haven't lost it, I think the thought of summer break is what's keeping me sane for the next couple of weeks.
  21. I agree that the tracks can get repetitive, but I don't mind it as much as I do with other songs. I guess it's a consequence of having track lengths that are larger than most other music, almost every song runs for about 6:00.
  22. BassThumb: I have most of their "Drink the Sea" album, love their stuff. I really want to see the summer tour, they're stopping in SF so I might be able to go see them. Haha when I first heard their music I instantly thought of using it as driving music! I can't wait to get home from school and roll with this blasting out my speakers As for Ulrich, I'm not sure, maybe a little too mellow for me. I'm going to be looking around for more music like this though, that's for sure.
  23. Yeah if I had to pick some others: "Fortune Days" "We Swarm" "Bad Wings" "Animus Vox"
