  1. i have some other friends who will be fishing with me. Do they count or only me?
  2. i used to use swivels and liked them. Now i use duo-lock snaps, and like them better. They dont impede the action of a crank although i havent really noticed a difference in the action. But i think that without the ball bearing and stuff it is less visible to the fishy who might be spooked by one. ;D
  3. Im going out tomorrow, how many fish just one? then someone else from the state does another?
  4. Yeah, i would be cracking up after i listen to how they react. I dont know what his secret is but it works. lol great videos.

If you are referring to durability...no. It's not made of plastic so it is not that durable. A few fish per bait for me usually, but by then i will throw it away and put another one on.
  6. Yum passes salt off for an attractant by itself, i know that much. Somebody told me when i first started fishing that the salt was for weight. If salt attracts fish, thats another reason why senkos catch fish i guess...lots of salt! Doesnt strike king do the coffee tube thing? I dont remember. Maple syrup, lol
  7. Congrats!!! Its a good feeling. I just got mine yesterday...i was so happy. Thank goodness for protective males!!!
  8. 1) not much really, if it looks good and is reasonably priced, then it gets purchased. Eventually i start to trust a brand after using it for a while though. A confidence thing for sure. 2)to me color is important, i want the fish to think "i've eaten that before! It was yummy too!" lol. Especially in clear water and if i am fishing slower.
  9. I've never seen it on a spinnerbait, but i do know that echips are used for ocean fishing. Caught salmon and halibut using them. Interesting, never saw it for bass, mostly salmon lures.

I agree that we are probably not the only beings in the whole universe. Although i did get to wondering... Scientists on Earth say that all life needs water to live... but what if other creatures not on Earth did not need water? Is that a possibility? Scientists and astronomers are looking for planets that can have liquid water, for signs of life but what if the creatures mentioned above existed? Just a thought! ;D I have too much time to think. I should stop being so distracted when fishing... I wonder if aliens go fishing too? Then they see a bass and they will say "what the heck is that? It is hideous! Our (alien species gamefish) is much better than this thing!" sorry for the long post guys, continue on.
  11. Craw is a good idea as well are senkos. A slower presentation is ideal for colder water situations. You could try for a reaction strike, but it would seem unlikely. Although slow rolling a spinnerbait is an option. Good luck!
  12. Ok thanks, i was wondering why salt was on the outside of the baits. To me it seemed like it would be gone as soon as it hit the water. Salt impregnation i get, because senkos have salt for weight which is something i understand. I like gulp, it works where i fish, and it gives me time to take a bite out of my sandwich, then set the hook! Haha, just kidding, setting the hook comes first, even if i lose the sandwich. Sandwich as chum maybe? Who doesnt like a nice car though? ;D But you're right it is the driver.
  13. Thanks guys, i will have to pick up some YUM baits next time i go to the shop. I know scent isnt the main reason for a fish to bite, but i like how a fish might hold on longer. One more question, does the salt really help with anything? Thanks again for all of the help and advice!
  14. I'm sure this has been dicussed before, but couldnt find it through the search option. I use Berkley gulp and think it works. I have been contemplating whether or not to get some YUM baits. Is either one really better? One says it outfishes all other bait and the other says only live bait works better. One reason i have not used YUM is because they claim that salt attracts fish... i always though it was for weight. I like scented baits so that i have more time to set the hook after they bite. Knowing me, i need all the time i can get! ;D I'm interested in using YUM as much as i use gulp. Any other bait recommendations are appreciated. There are way too many choices when it comes to choosing baits... Thanks for helping me out
  15. i agree, the best way to find the "honey hole" is too find it on the water. Depending on how warm it is where you are, you might be able to just use search baits to find fish, then fish that area more thoroughly with worms and jigs etc. Using a map aids in findiong these spots because it shows depth. Good luck.
  16. If there are big fish in there, then chances are they will be deeper or in the thickest of cover. A lot of big ones just chill in the deeper water. And you did say that it was summer, so that might have pushed at least a few of them deeper, where there is more dissolved oxygen and cooler temperatures. Try a jig, texas rigged plastic in thick cover spinnerbait, crankbait, wacky worming, or a frog on the lily pads. Topwater bites are great in the mornings in summer, and also evenings. When the sun gets up throw the frog onto the lily pads or any thick vegetation, that will get some nice bass. I'm not sure what other baits you used during that summer, but a lot of different kinds work and i only named a few. Experiment. Good luck, hope i helped a bit!
  17. Thats what i thought... I have never seen or heard of ducks eating fish... people are always feeding them bread and chips! Why bother going after a fish anyway! From a duck's perspective, being vegetarian would take less energy, especially if people and kids think you are cute and want to nice and feed you!!! ;D
  18. OLD SCHOOL BOOK.. oops, should have thought of that. Is this whole "feeling the belly" kind of a new thing then? I learned from a buddy a couple of years ago when i started fishing. Or maybe the book is from way back when...
  19. besides hollow body frogs, you could try those buzzfrog things. I am going to try that this year, and they look promising! it doesnt have to be on topwater either, fish it a little deeper, or just under the surface.
  20. i wonder why a smallmouth fishing book would suggest cutting the belly open instead of just feeling it?
  21. yeah feeling the belly is much easier than cutting it open. and it works.
  22. i looked on the list of things but didnt see any with the above combination. Would a normal 5" senko work on a darter head? If this has been asked before i am sorry. Thanks in advance!
  23. definitely not because my pb of 8lbs was caught on a 5'6" light (maybe ultra, not sure) action rod made of plastic, well it seemed like it with the way it creaked. I have used this rod in saltwater for some little fish and never changed the line! lol It was probably worth like $5 and it broke finally not too long ago. It was a miracle, and i have no idea how that rod handled it...
  24. rat-l-traps are in the category of lipless crankbaits. Same with the strike kings. both lures are made by different companies and thats about it, they might have a difference in shape also. Some dont even have rattles, but i have never used those.
  25. I saw this coming while i was typing my message but i proceeded to post it anyway! ;D
