  1. 8 pounds, if i find the pic i'll put it up (think my dad has it on his comp. or phone)
  2. Not really strange but here goes: Shore fishing somewhere (saltwater) and was using shrimp as bait. I was little and thought i got my line snagged on the bottom... turns out i caught 2 crabs on one hook! Good sized too!
  3. The only time i would keep a bass, unlike my father, would be if there is no chance of survival and/or it is a state/world record. By the time a fish hits world record size it would be pretty close to the end for it. Unless it was spring time because i would like to be able to know that there is a line of big genes coming from that fish!
  4. I'm not sure if this is true but, if my memory is working for once, aren't some plankton called photoplankton (or something) and they use light so that photosynthesis can occur? These little guys are actually attacted to light and move using cilia or flagellas. There are also others that are not so light friendly. The only reason i say this is because last year in biology, we looked at these things under a microscope. But i'm not sure if they were plankton, although they do live in water. Hope this helps!
  5. They should be fairly soon given that this rain is going to finally end and warmer weather is expected starting Monday! Finally a sunny day in CA after so much rain!
  6. I have a Revo S and its great. I have never used a shimano reel (that might change after i save up some moolah) but the Revo is my first baitcaster and i love it. now i use my BC more than my spinning stuff!
  7. Yes, but is it better than the Calais DC? I don't want to save up for something that has a superior to it that costs less! If it does turn out to be, i might be getting that sooner than i had originally thought!
  8. That reel (from the link above) looks sweet! I did the conversion, and it will cost about 512 USD. Isn't that less than the Calais DC? If so that would be nice. I'm thinking about saving up for one, might take a while! Too bad that only the right hand model can reserved... I did notice that there is on less ball bearing in the reel, but that doesn't make too much of difference does it? Sure would be fun to play with! ;D
  9. I got that dvd for free at Sports Authority when i started fishing! The saleperson said it was a great video and it was. At first i thought it was going to be a bad video (since it was free, i did not have very high expectaions), but i watched the whole thing the day i got it, and i still watch it every now and then to this day. I try not to watch it during the Winter though... it kills me! Besides that downside, i recommend this to anyone who wants some good information about those types of baits.
  10. I dont know how long it lasts, but this new Gulp is supposed to absorb the scent and flavor better than the first generation Gulp baits. So i guess that would mean that the Gulp you are asking about could be dipped into the Alive formula, but it would not absorb as much "stuff". Berkely also states that there is a better swimming action than the other Gulp. The absorbing ability of other baits may limit the amount actually taken in also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLJyP4i5Fi0 http://www.catcherman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4485 http://www.tackledirect.com/berkley-gulp-alive-baits.html These are a few links that i found as helpful. There is also a video (first one). There arent any of those where i live but when they hit the stores i would like to pick up some. Hope this helps!
  11. When i get a boat i'm going to put that kind of toilet paper there... that is the Charmin super-extra-strong-non-breakable-stainless steel-reusable() toilet paper!!!
  12. Gotta love Rapala products... now i think i will have to take a trip to Outdoor Pro Shop and pick up one of those! I can already see myself catching 100 bass! lol yeah right... :
  13. The advice about talking to the wireless carrier is the best, I have the iPhone and its great, although for business i don't know if thats a great idea. If all he needed was easy e-mail access and a way to communicate with clients etc. then it wouldn't be a problem. But if he needed to make documents or spreadsheets, he is better off with the laptop. JMO
  14. So far i would have to say that i am loyal to: Rapala for sure, and Berkley (softbaits). Rapala: because they are the first crankbaits i bought (4-pack at target! lol) and i have always been able to trust the quality of the bait. Berkley: because they are some of the best platics/softbaits i have ever used. I have other brands that i like, but not necessarily loyal to. Although i must say that the longer i keep fishing, this will end up being a long list! ;D
  15. One of my good buddies in college was half Chinese and half Mexican. I had a nick name for him. Homey Hong Kong. Thats a good one! ;D My mom is from Hong Kong so people might end up calling me that instead of just "The Chexican" 8-)
  16. As far as plastics go, the only storm baits that work (for me) are the rattle finesse worms. Those things catch a bass every time, the problem is that i cant find it anymore, and i've checked ebay but the calors werent the ones i wanted. They were amazing baits though, caught an 8lb fish one day and two days later caught a 5lb. Anyway, as for swimbaits, i havent had any success with them, and i dont plan to either!
  17. As far as i know there is no one that i have met so far in my life that is half-mexican and half-chinese! If you take a looksee at my sig you will notice that i am a Chexican (creative isnt it? )... I came up with this some time ago and that is what my friends say if someone asks about my ethnicity (i don't even have time to answer the question myself! lol) Also i am not too sure what to put on the tests that ask what your ethnicity is, i cant pick more than one, but i am not really other... oh well i guess it will haunt me forever!
  18. You are right, its not spring for the bass... that is probably why they are not near the surface! Just because the suface temperature is 47 does not mean that the temp near the bottom isnt warmer, in winter, chances are it is warmer (but dont expect it to be 20 degrees warmer than on the surface! lol) Anyway i agree that a hard jerkbait would work well. Let it pause for a while too. Hope this helps!
  19. For largemouth i would like to fish lake barrett, clear lake, and the mexico lakes (kind of like going back to my roots lol )
  20. I caught most fish last year on worms... so this year, everything else (that i currently have)
  21. I agree that the people at the pet store would be able to help you with the size of your tank and what kind of fish would fit into it and still be heathy.
  22. I dont know... we really do need some rain! I suppose we could share a little! Anyone who wants some rain bring a few buckets and chill at my parents restaurant until they fill up!
  23. Ha! I love those fish! We share the same name (except for the fish part)! My dad makes fun of me sometimes because of it.
  24. I swear that the wardens are non-existent on the lake i fish. The only time i have seen one was the first day i ever fished the lake (and they were REALLY helpful in telling me where a good spot to fish was), now its like where did they go? Maybe they are super spies now! I have no identification to show that i am 15, but i am almost always fishing with my dad, or my mom will feel like a nice person and take me (but refuses to fish) so i don't think there is anything to worry about. I get my permit pretty soon!!! Just be careful when i get my license if you decide to drive around sonoma county! :
  25. I am pretty sure they are only down south. In Mexico there are plenty of tilapia and the bass feed on them a lot. If there a lot of tilapia i say its worth a shot to use a tilapia patterned lure.
