  1. You're not supposed to like it. You're, like, old and stuff. Duh. : It doesn't appeal to me at all, but I'm sure my 12 yr old son would be fascinated by it. ;D ETA: People with even less musical talent have made millions off of far worse songs than that. If she can make money doing it, more power to her. Old?!? Well, I guess being in college makes me old compared to her, the fans, and their peers. When she gets to high school she should make a remix, and then another for college, she'd be so rich! Her voice actually isn't bad, I heard it when watching a video of "Good Morning America" featuring Rebecca Black and she sang a couple lines of the national anthem, it's just the autotune and lyrics that bothered me about in the song. I bet if she had done this without the autotune, it would be at least a little more appealing. The lyrics, well, I don't know, maybe get someone to review it and make sure lines rhyme? It's a hit though right? #69 on iTunes top 100. Can't say she did anything wrong, she's making money Looking at this from a business point of view, the parents definitely made a good investment by paying for the production of it. And I noticed someone being a little ticked off by the negativity, sorry about that. I didn't mean for this to be negative but to be more of something amusing that we can talk about, and make a few good jokes about. So let's all lighten up ;D
  2. So, I'm guessing that visible light would also work in a similar manner? And compared to visible light, is UV capable of penetrating deeper through the water under the same conditions? I guess the only question left is whether or not bass can see UV light (or reflections of it, if it makes a difference)!
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD2LRROpph0&hd=1 The most horrendous YouTube video I have ever seen. I refuse to call it a music video because it isn't music! I have to say though, props for getting nearly 20 MILLION VIEWS with this nonsense.
  4. I remember reading in a book that UV light doesn't get very far beyond the water's surface. I've also seen that UV light easily penetrates water. Which is true? Another thing that I've read is that fish like bass lose their ability to see UV light after some point when they are really young. If this is true, unless we're trying to catch bass fry, wouldn't using baits that utilize the reflection of UV light be pointless? Can someone please clarify on these two points? ¡Gracias!
  5. I feel that 2 and 3 (the opportunistic part) basically support 1 because, given their opportunistic feeding habits, they will use their advantage over their prey, even if they are not hungry. Could it be that they get used to such a schedule and start doing it out of habit? This would make a lot of sense at a lake back home where the main food sources for the bass are sunfish and craws because the bite will seem to "turn on" once it gets near sunset (I haven't fished this lake in the early morning )
  6. I believe Rapala's Trigger X baits are also biodegradable.
  7. You don't need to bring it all the way back to the surface but definitely experiment with different retrieves to see which the fish react best to. There's no one set and "right" way to fish a bait, so play around with the retrieve and let the fish tell you what they like best.
  8. I would have to agree and go with a color or two that are proven to work for bass or colors you normally use that are productive, that way you can compare it to other baits in the same color and see if it's worth a place in your tacklebox. And to see if the bait itself helps you catch more fish, you can get a pack in a color that you may have not had as much success with or less confidence in, that way you can see if the bait itself is helping your catch rate and not so much the color. I hope that made some sense
  9. hookinem, usually around summertime (or maybe all year-round, I'm not sure) you'll see Apple have an offer where they'll give a discount or some sort of deal if you can prove that you are buying a MacBook for college (acceptance letter basically covers it). Like this past summer I recall that you could get a free iPod touch with a purchase of a MacBook. I'd imagine that in this coming summer they will offer a deal or incentive if you buy a MacBook for college as well.
  10. Oh and Google becomes a pretty close friend during this process of getting used to a Mac.
  11. Yeah man, Macbooks are the way to go for sure! It takes a little getting used to when switching from a PC but once you're used to it, you'll find it to be better than PC's. I kind learned the ropes of a Mac in middle school where we had a "multimedia" class and we would basically just mess around on the computers (mostly iMovie and Garageband) and again in high school when I took "digital art" (Photoshop and Illustrator). Not long after using the Macs in high school did I want one of my own! The multi-touch trackpad is still fun to use and some of my PC-owning friends here in college find it fascinating
  12. Although I've been swamped with schoolwork, I would really like to check out the fishing soon since warmer weather is gonna be coming up (I hope). I'm guessing that the trains and busses don't mind a dude with a few rods plus tackle? I'm definitely limited to the banks since I don't have a car, and a boat is wayyyyy out of the question. Same goes for that membership to the Penn Warner Club. It sounds great, don't get me wrong but that kind of money is not worth it (I don't know if it's a one time charge or not but either way it's not happening). Are there any solid (and I use that term loosely from what I've read so far) places for bass near campus? Or is it fairly easy to get to other locations through public transportation with tackle and all?
  13. for me it's setting the hook on a fish while frogging, when you're in the thick stuff, you get the all clear to go all out haha. and watching the strike is fun too.
  14. Definitely rooting for the Red White and Blue! I just hope they do well, pretty confident they wont win it :. I'm not gonna make a prediction but, EA's FIFA World Cup 2010 video game predicts Spain to beat Brazil in the final 3-1.
  15. Lakers baby! Only because they're from CA, I don't watch basketball all that often but the playoffs are worth watching. People don't like Kobe, but the dude is a BEAST.
  16. Thanks everyone! I'll be checking out all the links and see what I can do. As a freshman in college, I don't know how easy keeping a boat's going to be ha. I do have a float tube though . I'm used to catching 1 fish in some of the lakes around here that get lots of pressure so, I'm not too worried about catching lots of fish to make a good day. Obviously, school is the most important thing, but I don't think I could live without fishing for 4 years!
  17. Anyone try it? know someone who tried it? Opinions?
  18. I use duo lock snaps all the time with cranks and stuff. I don't worry too much about the fish seeing the snap since the bait is in motion and the action of the lure seems like it would take the attention away from the snap. I've used snaps with a bed bait + braided line + flippin' stick while sight fishing.... straightened out real quick setting the hook. So for cranks you should be good, and other applictaions be sure to account for the qualities of each component in you arsenal to catch fish (rod reel line).
  19. I'll probably be going to UPenn for college this coming fall and was wondering how's the fishing and where are some good places to go around there? I'll be visiting soon and i might test some of the local waters, but i'm more interested in the coming years than the very near future. Thanks in advance.
  20. Go Chargers! not my favorite team, but they're from CA, so I'll root for them.
  21. Spring Lake doesn't have any 24 pounders in there. Supposedly, there was an analysis run on it and based on things like his thumb and whatnot, it was reasoned to be about 18 pounds. But hey, if it's true, it makes me more optimistic about the place. Also, I heard that they stopped stocking the lake with rainbows, i know ralphine still gets stocked though. Did they start stocking trout again? I also heard they planted some bass this past year, can you verify any of this?
  22. whatever can help settle down the cabin fever... that being said... none would be the answer, they all make me want to fish. ;D
  23. i've got a president, works great and no problems with it.
  24. sounds like a lake that i would love to spend the day frogging! any fish miss the frog, follow with a punch rig or something like that. I'd leave that to my buddy though. I love frogging!
  25. Mine was at Spring Lake, here in Santa Rosa, CA. It measured 24 inches and weighed 8 pounds. My dad and i were fishing all afternoon and didnt catch anything, and right before the park closed, that fish came along and made my day! Caught it wacky rigging a 4.5in storm rattle finesse worm in the holographic purple color. I thought my rod was going to break (it was a cheap old spinning combo with old line used in both salt and fresh water. Looking back, I'm glad nothing went wrong because it wouldnt have taken much for that to be a lost fish...)
