  1. ive never heard of any lake refered to as the queen. im assuming its quemahoning though. needless to say i would be out there with a lake map marking everything i saw. stump fields, points, road beds, depth transitions, shelves, rock outcroppings etc. i used to hate drawdowns, now i love them.
  2. out of curiosity what lake is being drawn down?
  3. yes you are correct, hopewell is in fact downstream from breezewood. i dont know what the hell way is up or down out there. but yeah we might actually fish the same section of river. ritchey bridge road or or lower mountain/bowser rd sound familiar? thats where im used to going. next year i would like to go upriver from breezewood into some skinnier water. but yeah im more then happy to meet up with anyone to get some time in the drink wherever. my biggest problem is i work for the railroad so my days off suck for about 20 more years! im monday and tuesday unless i bid a new job. I have seen some large muskies in the stretch of stream above where 30 crosses over it. I would love to learn some of that area for smallies. You are correct when you call the river above that "skinny" LOL i didnt know it was good for toothy critters up that way. now ya really got me thinkin about a recon mission.
  4. have 2, a 2500 and a 1500. paid 110 for one and 90 for the other and i dont regret it a bit. they arent a sol, but then again they arent priced like a sol either.

  6. im wondering how long its gonna be before someone actually makes this a legit psychological problem. it would be cool to have a support group to reach out to in my times of need. instead of a suicide hotline have a hotline you can call to get talked out of dumping a couple grand on fishing stuff. the voice of reason we all seem to be lacking...
  7. 1/4 oz white buzzbait if the tops on fire and my super secret tube if things are hot under the drink
  8. i feel your pain. personally im gonna start reading up on bankruptcy laws to get prepared for what looks like the eventual outcome. seriously though i have to force myself away from anyplace with fishing supplies. i just keep repeating to myself...i am strong, i am strong, i am strong.. eventualy it turns to i am weak, i am weak, i am weak my tally for the year powell 703c 160 stcroix legend tourney mlxf 160 (sale) st croix legend tourney mxf 210 st croix avid mlf 110 (sale) shimano crucial drop shot rod 140 diawa advantage hst 130ish diawa sol baitcaster 190 diawa sol 2500 190 diawa tierra 2500 110 diawa tierra 1500 110 about a grand in plastics and another grand in cranks, spinnerbaits and terminal tackle. so about 3350.
  9. im sure you allready knew this but i drew in the cabbage patch. if it were me and it just might be this friday "if its not frozen over" i would be fishing right were i penciled in the red. cant beat a strong weedline right on a dropoff to deepwater with shallow access close by.
  10. i get off the pike at breezewood and backtrack on 30 for a mile or two and hit some backroads. there are a ton of bows in the river up there that hold a bunch. down from hopewell. check it out on google maps.
  11. rapala j-5. silver and black. slash it through the water. 17 brownies and a monster 23" bow last opening day.
  12. in or near the streams like everyone else said. rapala j-5's fished hard and fast are a top producer for me.
  13. catfish are where the money for a bogagrip payoff. and pike, an musky, and walleye. or you can go hardcore and be a noodler. i think i stick with the grip myself.
  14. stradic or TDA. im a diawa guy so i would get that obviously but you cant go wrong with either.
  15. bass pro shops had an advertisement on the last page i was on. while some people may not like them im gonna go on a hunch and say thier legit.
  16. to me that area is the most densely grouped area of water around where you can catch a big anything. within 20 -30 miles you can catch a trophy bass, pike, musky, trout, and walleye. im like you though, i would much rather fish a flow then a lake. i didnt make it out to the raystown branch at all this year and im ticked about it. only place ive ever had a 100+ smallmouth day. or even come close for that matter.
  17. funny! i did the same thing you did about 2 weeks ago at twin lakes. dropshotting marabou jigs, c rigged j-7s, tubes whatever.. ended up swtching to a j-5 and getting a nice rainbow and callin it the day. no bass. my guess is they are over near the wooded side directly across from the boathouse. there is a gigantic swath of vegetation in the water over there that probably provides them with good cover and warmth through the winter. if there were anyway to get a f&f out that far over there i bet you could crush all winter. or at least till ice over.
  18. if the quemahoning, duman dam, glendale, yough dam, laurel hill, kooser, somerset lake, the casselman, yough river, cranberry glade, or high point count then yeah i fish around that area!
  19. early march for me in sw pa. then slimers in april and back to bass in may.
  20. first off, first time poster long time lurker. the railroad is sending me to mcdonough georgia for some training from jan to early march. ive been trying to research any possible spots to get some rod time in while im there but im commin up short. i really wanted to give charlie elliot a try till i saw i needed a 74$ wma stamp for non residents. although i think i saw somewhere that a 1 day license will cover it. i was hoping to buy a regular non resident license instead of getting a 1 day twice every weekend. if thats what i have to do then its what i have to do i guess. anyway are there any other lakes around with fairly good shore access? i dont live bait fish so i'll be on the move slingin plastics, cranks and spinnerbaits. i tried checkin out google maps for ponds but its always hard to tell whats public and whats private. i saw indian creek state park rents boats, dont know how good it is there though. it would be nice to get some use out of the eleventy bazillion dollars of fishing equipment i have that normally collects dust from dec-march while everythings frozen up. any help is appreciated. i dont expect people to give up thier super secret pond or spots, just a nudge in the right direction. btw if anyone can tolerate a yankee for a day i'll pic up your gas and put you on some killer smallmouth action should you ever find yourself in western pennsylvania.
