  1. Tell the little lady it could have been worse. You were thinking of having her sit in it on the way home. ?
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmKrcOB7udA
  3. You're gonna need a bigger boat!
  4. IMO since line speed is slower in a mid-flex vs tip-flex, timing is not as critical.
  5. I agree with flyfisher's comment on rollcasting. Practice it both sides, left and right. Also I would avoid the current trend of fast action rods. While they may let you cast a bit farther in perfect condition, they are less forgiving to beginner fly fishing. Accuracy is far more important than a little extra distance. I have an older Orvis Clearwater 6wt., 2pc., moderate action that gets used most, even though I have (too) many others ?
  6. Just recently, in my own town, a State Police K-9 found a missing 5 year old child. House was waterfront, so you can imagine the stress for all. The K-9 hero was bouncing around, he knew he did well! Bet that kid is asking his parents every day for a companion of his own ?
  7. GSD make EXCELLENT S&R dogs, too. Thank you for helping this beautiful pup!
  8. Why not try something different? Pick up some black nail polish from the dollar store. Dries quick, pretty chip resistant, and use that one for night time/cloudy days. Single blades seem to work better, more vibration.
  9. I wouldn't bother if only ten feet or less JMO
  10. Think the poster meant 130-150 ft.
  11. The Abu Garcia Record line is a very smooth, long casting model.
  12. all good suggestions here, except the Shimano Cardiff 300 ? I would also get a good line, maybe yo zuri hybrid and some Van Dam line conditioner.
  13. Nice! I have many good memories of fishing with my late father. We got mom "hooked" on fishing as well. ?
  14. This type allows you to slide the weight back and forth a bit.
  15. Thank You!
  16. Do Peacocks Count?? Yes, they can spell, also
  17. In my area, it's bird feeders. People put a few up in their yard, then complain when they attract bears, not birds. No one seems to want a bear hunting season, yet that seems to be the best solution at this point. Better than getting hit by cars, or a threat to people or pets.
  18. the other two were from animal control, Yogi was from a rescue, but they wanted him PTS sometimes it takes longer to train a rescue dog, but one thing for sure, they never let you forget how thankful they are you saved them. The middle boy is sure fast, and obsessed with green (ONLY green) tennis balls. He is also obsessed with fishing! I have an electric powered pontoon we all share for fishing. Best friends ever!
  19. A-Jay, I've been involved in rescue, foster ad AC, about 45 years. Dogs usually do better with women, sorry to say, it's usually men the abusers. So we have to be the ones who show them, men can be a best friend too. My Boxer/mix takes the credit for showing dogs, not all dogs are a threat to them. He has a gift for making friends with many dogs, all different sizes. And the best part is, they thank you every day for giving them a chance.
  20. A-Jay, you are a good man! I also foster (although that sometimes ends up an adoption ? ) Fostering can let even a dog with a tough early life, see that people, and other dogs, are their friends. One of my previous fosters, now part of my family, had never been in a home, or even indoors. At first EVERYTHING scared him. He slept the first night, head cradled in my hands while I slept in a chair. The shelter was convinced because of his distrust of people and other dogs, he should be put down. Today he is SUPER social with every person and dog he meets has found many lost dogs and cats as well as a lost older gentleman. I believe he is one of the smartest dogs I have ever known, and that's a lot. Here he is, on the right, Yogi Bear
  21. Not where I fish, but everywhere else. Northwest Ct. Hiking on the AT, and most other places, even in my yard. I go out with a bright light at night, before I go out with my 3 dogs. No offence, but your yellow Labs., or any other dog is no match for a bear. Be safe
  22. Round, Round, I get a round.... ?
  23. I use Yozuri Hybred. not easy to find, but works great. spray some Van Dam line conditioner on it too
  24. The "set up" is in the thumb. After a bit, you don't even need to think about it.
