  3. Blade type baits work well Binsky Heddon Sonar Silver Buddy
  4. Yeah I didn't want to knock those with 10', but I never was comfortable in one either. Wilderness Pungo weighs 49 lb. there's a fishing model being made still (I think) rod holder, anchor system. pretty roomy too. Might be worth looking into a place that rents them, so you can try one out to see how you like it
  5. your size and weight should be considered also.
  6. yeah, just gotta be in no rush hauling em in! ?
  7. I have a canal near my. Pretty secluded, lots of bushes and stuff growing on both sides. I see the carp eating berries as they fall in. Some are red, some black. I put a red fly on my fly rod, doesn't seem to spook them like a spinning rod/hook does. And the fight a carp can do on a fly rod? FUN!!!
  8. Want to have some fun? try a fly rod with a dry fly. Elk hair caddis, Royal wulff, flying ant, etc. let it smack the water. soon as it hits, they'll hit it. have a pair of forceps to remove the fly. once you try that....YOU are hooked...on fly fishing ?
  9. can you wet down in the places you are fishing? otherwise, I would suggest you stay inside with the AC on. I say this considering you are getting chemo treatment. I do wish you good luck with that.
  10. might help to keep rodents out. squirrels, chipmunks, mice
  11. next time try a fly rod, then YOU'LL be hooked! ?
  12. I've had good luck, year round with the Binsky blade lures
  13. that's just methed up! ?
  14. coffee. not sure if it helps cramps, but it tastes good!
  15. Worry about trout and pike coexisting? Housatonic river has both w/o a problem. Now, GE putting PCBs in the river, now that's a problem.
  16. yeah, well the gators have a different idea ?
  17. Being chased by a gator, is similar to being chased by a bear. You don't have to run fast, just faster than the guy next to you. We know a thing or two, cause we've seen a thing or two..... Farmer's Insurance.
  18. I agree 100%. only problem is it's gotten hard to buy locally. Walmart and Dick's used to carry it, not any longer (in my area)

on the original question. seeing mountain lions, coyowolf/dog whatever (50-60lbs) lots of new kinds of weeds. more scavenger type birds than before. less bluebirds, less pickerel, and yellow perch
  21. you need a fly rod. 6 or 7 weight. you won't stop smiling!

Yes I hear you about never having to worry about ticks here in the northeast as a kid. and to make things worse, I believe ticks are becoming immune to preventives as well. Frontline is useless now. I use soresto collars, advantix, and a bandana treated with permathrin, and still 2 of my three rescues have lyme. I hike a lot, and in less than a half mile on the AT, I can pull off many ticks off my dogs. 12poundbass. checking for ticks takes time, a good light, glasses if needed. look in the ears, under the tail, in between the toes, etc. they are the worlds smallest terrorists, they hide themselves very well.
  23. you could always volunteer
