How To Vent/ground Gas Tank
The law usually requires that if you put a portable tank into a compartment it NEEDS to be vented. As is posted above usually 2 vents one facing forward one rearward. Grounding a fuel system is never a bad idea.

can anyone tell me
You might have separate livewell pumps for fresh water or recirc. Or it might be for pump-out. As was stated before, follow the hoses and that would be your first clue.

Fuel Test Kits
I just ordered a kit from briggs and stratton through my local lawn mower shop for about $8.50
-
centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
I like a reel that has both, but if I had to choose just one I would have to go with cetrifugal, the rest I can do with my thumb.

Who Makes Bass Pro Shops Rods?
I didn't know the oomp loompas were working out of China now. That figures !!!

Best rod for under $150
Shimano Crucial gets my vote here. Light, sensitive and you can't beat the over-the-counter warranty!!!

Need some info and comments on these 3 popular rods!!
Crucial, I have the same rod and use it for plastic worms. It's light, sensitive and strong. The broken tip stories bother me a little but I've worked mine pretty hard and the warranty is good though I hope that I'll never need it. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Living in Tampa, Florida
Another Clearwater resident here. Been here too long. Traffic sucks (especially this time of year). Weather sucks (except this time of year). Everywhere you go there's too many people (any time of year). Fishing is decent on some lakes and the best places ARE private (probably because there are too many people). Can't wait 'til the housing market improves so I can move to a better place like Virginia (actually thinking more like Carolinas). But it is nice to be able to fish year round. Good luck

boat hunting
I bought an '02 NX750 with a 115 last fall. I got it for 7k and NADA had it listed for 10k, I gues I got a good deal. So far i am very happy with it. It will run about 55 mph (gps) and that is fast enough for me. There is a lot of storage space considering it's only a 17.5' boat. The only reservation I have is that with a dual console ther is less room to move around in the boat but it's liveable. Good luck on your quest.

Good Handheld GPS
I have a Magellan Triton series and it sux, the batteries run down in 3 days with the unit off the whole time. Right now I'm in the process of fighting with their customer service ( or the lack there of). I don't know what to buy, but I do know what not to.

What was your first boat? Mine was......
Mine was a '50s something 12' Jon boat with a 3.5 horse motor. I stipped and painted it, added a trolling motor, pedistal seats, carpeted floor boards. It got the job done. Now I have a Nitro NX 750 with a 115. It gets the job done too but gets there a little bit faster and with a little more comfort.

Leader to Braid Knot Help
I use 30lb braid and 12lb fluoro leader with a J-knot, always wet line before tightening knot. Never had a problem yet. Coil of fluoro attatched to knot on braid probably means that the fluoro was damaged by the braid when the knot was tightened, wetting line should lubricate line to prevent damage.

Anyone else enjoy fishing in the rain?
I don't look forward to it but some of my more successful trips were during a rain storm.

alternator problem???
I am a mechanic and I second what way2slow is saying. The only thing I would like to add is that if you are going to use baking soda around your battery DO NOT get any inside of it or you will kill it. Also sometimes taking to a professional is cheaper than throwing parts at it or destroying good parts by mistake.

johnny morris baitcaster or energy pt
I also have a JM elite. I chose it for the centrifugal/magnetic cast control and couldn't be happier. For the money you can't go wrong with this reel. JMO

How did you find Bass Resource?
Found it during a search and now I check in at least once every day. There's so much to be learned.
-
fuel stabilizer
I found that during the summer here in Florida, if I used my boat only once a month, the fuel that was sitting in the carbs would go stale and i would have to drain them to get it started. I add stabilizer every time I put fuel in the tank. That way I should never have a stale fuel problem.

Bass Boat Starting Problem.....Ideas?
If not the battery, it may be that the starter draws too much current when it gets hot. Could also be a bad connection at the battery, starter, starter relay. Also check the grounds. But i would be sure the battery is good via a load test. Good luck.

Why do people in FL use Hand Cont Trolling Motors on the BOW?
i'm also from Florida and prefere a foot controlled tm. I like having both hands free to fish with. It just seems easier to use your foot and if I have to i'll lean against the pedistal seat. Just my 2 cents.

JOHNNY MORRIS VS PFLUEGER PATRIACH
I have 2 JM signature reels and 1 JM elite reel and I'm very happy with them. I belive you should spend enough to get good equipment but not more than you need to. I would highly recommend the Johnny Morris reels.

Traded in an old Shimano and picked up a Johnny Morris Signiture, a great reel for 105 bucks.
