Fronts moving in and out?
As I plan to burn some vacation days over the next couple of months for fishing, I of course want to burn them on good fishing days. This time of year the temps yoyo quite drastically I know the fish "turn off" when the front moves in and the temp drops. But whats the best (just as a general rule) time for them to turn back on? The first day the temps head back up? The second? how should I try to hit them?

Opinions on Bass Pro shop Extreme series baitcasters
I'll look at the Revo S. But how do you set the centrifical brake. I don't want anything I have to take apart on the water to set. I'm a newbie and don't need the added distraction/frustration. Its bad enough I cant catch fish..... ;D but Im gonna fix that even if I have to throw dynamite in the water....lol

Opinions on Bass Pro shop Extreme series baitcasters
I'm looking at a couple of combos for my second rod/reel. I have a Rick Clum combo that has done well. But I was wondering what you guys think. I'm about to buy a HB 798csi so I don't have the big bucks to spend. About 180 is my budget for the setup. Suggestions? Need a 7' worm rod. Thanks in advance Jeff

Memphis Area Lakes- Water Colors
Hi everyone. I've been reading a lot here and it has generated another question. It seems that bait color selection depends a lot on water color. The terms tainted, stained, and other such terms are used. As I have no point of reference for a baseline I was hoping guys around here would tell me what they consider these lakes to be. The lakes Ive been fishing around here are: Herb Parsons Glenn springs Sardis Arkabutla Pin Oak beech lake Tunica Cutoff (Yes, I keep a collapsible pole and some crappie jigs on board at all times. Good eatin' ) I appreciate all the help you guys so willingly giveThis is a great place.

Controlling lure depth
Maybe so, But I'm definitely gonna have to increase the information coming in. Ive started reading the articles on here and am going to upgrade the electronics in 2 weeks ( my birthday is the 28th.) From what I'm reading so far I've got to be fishing too fast. And I need more dark colored lures. I may go to Herb Parsons This after noon and practice bouncing a jig off the bottom. But first, a trip to BPS....Mwa HA HA HA Feel a case of G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) coming on.

Controlling lure depth
Okay. Super newbie question, Please try no to laugh to hard. Been studying deep water fishing here. I found the fish with my 15 year old FF. they were in about 13 ' of water around eight feet down. Thought Id try a lipless crankbait. Fished the area out. I can only think my baits weren't getting down to them. the seemed to stay shallow no matter how slow I reeled them in, waited about ten seconds after they hit the water to start. Reeled as slow as I could and still keep the action on the lure. Finally, the question....How do you keep the lures close to the depth you want? You may laugh now...... ;D

Going to buy side imaging - any last words?
I had a 798si on my last boat. all i can tell you about the install is make sure you get the boat level, and that the transducer is level in relation to the boat. I got mine wrong the first try and got little or no scanning on the left hand side till I got it corrected. Im watching your thread as IM going through the same descision process right now.

This weekends forcast. What do I do? Help!!!!!
I have no idea about the pre-spawn or or any of that. Thats one of the things confusing me. As far as water temp. I'll have to ask someone. i guess. Good thing im not shy. LOL what should I be looking for about now..... 40's or 50's. The only fishing tech I really know is throwing around the stuff around the edges. Am I wrong in thinking its too early in the year for them to be up this shallow? deep water bassin is something I've never been exposed too. (totally lost on that skill) Thanks for the response.

Going to buy side imaging - any last words?
Yep....structure scan is an additional 600.00 plus tax. Lowrance sells that as an add-on.

Your correct on one thing......GET IT NOW!! Once the baby shows up your fun account is toast. Your gonna need all your money for toys and diapers. Good God at the mountain of diapers. I still have nightmares.

This weekends forcast. What do I do? Help!!!!!
Hi Folks. Im a newbie who needs some advice. I live in the memphis area. I just happen to have the next five days off. With the weather heading cooler for the next five days (below 60) what would be my best fishing strategy? Ive read quite a bit but am quite confused on how to go after them. The electronics on my new fish/ski is so old as to be worthless. I really want to get at them Friday, Monday and Tuesday. But have no idea what the fish will be doing? The FF on this boat doesn't even tell water temp. (new electronics coming for birthday at the end of the month.) thanks for any advice Jeff :-?

New Electronics soon - Were do I start??
Read the two inch thick book that comes with it. Then take it to the lake (once installed of course) and play with it. take your book with you in the boat. The images are pretty much self explanatory. You'll need the book learn the menus and all the different options.

Calling all motor guru's
Also, sounds like it could be water. My 90 Johnson on my 95 F/S sucked water out of the tank. It did the same thing. If you dump most of the old gas off you can get a light in the tank and see the water in the fuel. It will look like a large bubble sitting on the bottom of the tank, as fuel and water dont mix. Dump all the old gas, change the plugs, Fresh gas in the tank. After that, try starting it a few times, (believe me it'll take a few times) You'll need a good battery but it'll start finally and run like hell for a few. You can also spray some carb cleaner in the intakes while you try to start it, that'll help. :-/

Hummingbird side imaging VS Lowrance Hds
the 1100dollars included local sales tax. I'll check google though. thanks. I for some reason thought HB had there prices locked with their retailers kinda like Bose does with there speaker prices.

Hummingbird side imaging VS Lowrance Hds
I'm haveing to make the same choice soon myself. My problem is affordability. Im going to come into about 700 for my birthday at the end of the month. I can get the lowrance hds5 for about that. and upgrade to the SS later. Or wait till i can come up with an additional 400 for the HB 798si . The only thing I have heard different from the stuff previously mentioned is the transmitter power on the Lowrance units is about double that of the HB units. (Ihave not comnfirmed this yet). More power + better picture. If I buy it a piece at a time I will have about 1400 in the Lowrance with the HD screen but Ill have to wait several months to get the SS. The hummingbird cost 1100 now but will have ss now just slightly worse picture quality. Decisions, decisions ;D

797c side imaging question
I just got one Friday. Installed it Saturday. Took it to Herb Parsons Monday. (I'm on fishing vacation this week). It works great. I had moments when one side would not show anything on one side of the display. Same finger print pattern as when I fire it up in the garage. Has anyone else had this problem? Im gonna try it again Friday. If it keeps it up I'm gonna have to uninstall and reinstall again. I hope some one has a fix for this. Other than that....it is an awesome unit. Males the whole bottom come to life. Thanks in advance
