  1. I would get: 6'6 or 7ft. Medium Bass Pro Crankin Stick and use it for all moving baits. Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits, Crankbaits, Jerkbaits. I know you have both 7:1 ratio reels, but pick the one with the lowest IPT (inches per turn) and put it on this rod. 6'6 or 7ft. Medium Heavy Fast Action Bass Pro Bionic Blade and use it for all bottom contact baits. Jigs, TX rigs, senkos, etc. These can be found for about $20-30 less than their retail during the Spring classic coming up. Might want to wait and check them out. If you have a Cabelas by you then I would look at their Fish Eagle II rods. They also go on sale frequently. I would definitely go with a house brand rod, as you will get the most for your money. Good luck.
  2. 7ft Medium Fast or 7ft Medium/Heavy Fast Two that I have used and recommend: Shimano Crucial St. Croix Avid
  3. Bomber Square A Bomber Balsa B Norman Mad N Haven't tried the Fat Boy, but plan to soon. The three listed seem to be fairly common in this thread and they are relatively cheap. Although it is not a true square bill, I also like the Norman Little N.
  4. I am a fan of the Stradics. It is everything I would want in a reel. Loved the feel of the Sol, but sold them both and picked up Stradic MgFB. It didn't pick up enough line for me and I figured I could make a few bucks by selling them and getting the Stradic.
  5. I am not sure what a normal time is between the pm and the email sent, but I noticed it last night as well. I believe it was about 15 minutes.
  6. Loomis BSR 852 GLX Shimano Stradic 2500MgFB I use 1/8, 3/16, and even 1/4 oz heads: Spot Remover and Picasso Shakedown. Zoom trick worms and ***: Finesse, Floater, and Taper Tail.
  7. Definitely a great show nonetheless.
  8. The intro song never mentions anything about flying there. Goes straight from "your moving with your auntie and uncle in bel air" to "I whistled for a cab and when it came near...". I understand that there was a hollywood sign in the background when he got in the cab, but when I was singing the song in my head I was like wait, did he just take a cab from Philly to Bel Air. Here is a link to the TV version. Full Version
  9. Did anyone ever wonder how he took a cab from Philadelphia to Bel Air? Well this exact thought crossed my mind when I, for some odd reason, had the theme song stuck in my head. Today while I was searching you tube videos, I found the answer. In the full song he actually does take a plane to Bel Air and then "whistles for a cab" at the airport. Just an FYI for others that grew up in the 80's and 90's.

  11. I agree that any quality reel should work. If you are worried about line cap. on say a 2500, maybe a 3000 or 4000 would fit the bill.
  12. Rumor has it, that fish jumped into his boat. ;D
  13. 10-12lb. Yo Zuri Hybrid on the crankbait setup 8-10lb. Yo Zuri, Trilene 100%, or Seagar Invizx Flourocarbon. Yo Zuri is a good all around line. If you get more confidence with Flouro, then these are the two I have used and liked.
  14. Funny you say chocolate coins. They built a new bridge in my city and it was the quickest way to my high school. Well, when they finished building the bridge, they stuck a $1 toll before you could cross. We paid it for awhile, but it got pretty expensive using it twice, sometimes three, times a day. One day I threw some chocolate coins in it and what do you know, the green light came on and the gate went up. I used the chocolate coins for about a week until I was out. About two weeks later there were workers there and the toll was out of order. I guess the chocolate melted from the summer heat and they needed to clean the inside. For a couple days the toll was free. I did feel real bad about it and paid with quarters the rest of my senior year. :'(
  15. Anybody use this rod for throwing 12-18' diving crankbaits? I prefer the Mod/Fast action to the Moderate and this rod seems to have enough length for me. I would use it mostly for 8-12' divers, but want something that can handle the occasional 18fter if need be. They seem to overpower my 845 Loomis. Thanks for the help.
  16. Got the same book and some of his grease/oil. With the help of the book I was able to strip the reel down and re-lube for the first time. It may take awhile to do your first reel as you read the book simultaneously, but the rest of the reels were a lot easier once I knew what I was doing. It has been a great reference since as well.
  17. I've always read that they are around 3/8 oz.
  18. BSR852 GLX will do both just fine. I haven't used mine on the water yet, but looked into the rod for a couple months before buying it. A 5" weightless senko would probably be the max I'd throw on it. It is the only spinning rod I own and I plan to use if for shakeyhead, drop shot, and smaller weightless senkos.
  19. You are in my prayers as well. Wife is still recovering and they want to keep her out of work another 3 weeks. Not quite as invasive as yours, but man does it take a toll on both of use. I wish you the best.
  20. Calais wouldn't work on a spinning rod either.
  21. Had them in a reel a bought online over a month ago. The reel was much smoother and freespooled longer than those with stock bearings. That is until I took apart the reels; cleaned the bearings, dried, and relubed. This made all the difference in the world. Will clean/lubed orange seals freespool longer than a clean/lubed stock bearings? Definitely. But for me, there is no added performance in them. What I get out of my reels now is perfect for me. Basically what I learned from all this is how much performance is gained from a good reel cleaning and lube.
  22. Did you ever get it figured out?
  23. $ St. Croix Mojo, Shimano Compre $1/2: St. Croix Avid, Shimano Crucial $$: St. Croix legend Elite, Shimano Cumara, Loomis IMX I've used all, but the Cumara. 6'8 Medium X Fast or 7'0 Medium Fast would be a good start.
  24. Do you just need the handle? Or do you need the knobs as well? I have a handle off a Chronarch 51Mg that I would sell ya. I just want to make sure this is all you need. You could probably swap the grips and bearing out of your Curado and put them on it. I do know it is slightly shorter than the Curado handle, but not by much. Let me know.
