  1. 7'2 Medium X Fast in either casting or spinning models. I much prefer a spinning setup for those weights, but that is just my preference.
  2. A longer handle is a must. With that said, I think the Sol could handle deep cranks, but I found it handled shallow cranks to 12'ft the best. If you want a dedicated DD22's and the like I would look into the Zillion crazy cranker or Curado E5.
  3. I don't think we'll ever have to worry about Shimano being fair and willing to work with customers as long as Dan is working there. This guy goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service.
  4. Dobyns Savvy 735C if you don't mind split grips. If you want a full grip then look at the 735C and 736C in the Champion models. Can be had new for around $190.
  5. Any rod with a lower weight recommendation of 1/8 to 3/16oz. It would most likely be categorized as a ML power casting rod and a M power spinning rod. Of course the hook you are using may add weight. The above is what would cast the frog the best. Most anglers prefer a more powerful rod when fishing frogs however and are willing to give up a rods castability for one more stout. Remember that a good reel with a light spool will make a huge difference in the ability to cast a lighter bait, such as your frog, with a heavier rod. Looking at the poll you have going in the forum, I would not recommend throwing something this light on a Citica. I think you would be much better off with the Curado.
  6. Jujy Beans please! Milk Duds and Snow Caps! While you are there, grab another Dud. Actually make it two please.
  7. Plastic drag star?
  8. I would recommend the Avid 70MM for your crankbait rod. Seems like a big jump from a Triumph to a GLX. The Avid gets great reviews too. If you really want a GLX then I would spend it on the worm rod. There are several rods that would fit your need and everyone will have a preference. An "all around" rod that will do what you want as well as others is an MBR843. A BCR803 or 853 makes a great T rig rod. Not sure on the exact difference between the two series, but others will probably chime in and help. Another popular rod is the senko series BCR893.
  9. I think you need to change the years to months in your poll. ;D
  10. Out of the ones listed, I would suggest the 705CB graphite rod. I have used it in moderate grass with no problems. I would probably recommend a 7ft or longer MH rod for this application. Loomis MBR 843, Dobyns or Powell 733, or any of the above mentioned.
  11. I bet he could use a few Lucky Crafts.
  12. I have had great service w/ Dobyns. Ordered a couple rods that had dents in the cork and sent them all back and they were quickly exchanged. I would imagine that if you had a broken rod that you could call Dobyns and they would take care of you. I would guess you send the rod with a $60 check, they inspect it, and they send you a new one plus shipping. Just a guess.
  13. I agree with the 843 for small jigs and plastics. I would look into an MBR844 if you want to throw 3/8-1/2oz. jigs and 1/4 oz., plus plastic, T rigs.
  14. 735C works great for me.
  15. I have to disagree with both of you. ;D BTW, who has caught the largest smallie between you two? You gain some respect with those pigs attached to each of your posts. It just goes to show you that different people prefer different rods for the same technique.
  16. I'd use it as well. Tie it to a tree and walk out half the spool of line. Then crank in the line and spray with KVD every so often.
  17. I agree with what others have said, but I do have one question. You stated that you were looking for a green Chronarch 51mg and got a silver one? I have never seen a green 51mg before. I hope things work out for ya.
  18. Which 702 model have you fished?
  19. Do NOT get the CBR781 Loomis unless you plan to only throw crankbaits of 3/8oz and less. I found the CBR783 to be overpowered by anything heavier than 3/8oz, so I can imagine the 781 would be bent in half. Wouldn't even think about using it for any other applications. All the CBR rods up to the 845 are too whippy.

    Congratulations!
  21. A couple models I think get good reviews in your price range: Shimano Cumara St. Croix Avid Dobyns Champion Loomis IMX There are others, but these are the names I see frequently. I think a MH Avid would work great for your baicasting rod. A Medium X Fast Cumara in whatever length you like for the spinning rod.
  22. I am assuming it is a baitcasting rod. If so, you can get away with 2" PVC pipe. I agree that you should call and see what is required. Could save you some coin on shipping if they only require a small section. BTW, PVC pipe is only about $3.50 for a 10' section.
  23. If you just got the MH, and you are thinking Dobyns, then I would strongly consider the 735c for Frogs, Toads, and small Swimbaits.
  24. 7ft. Medium Mod/Fast for anything under 1/2oz. that suspends around 3-5 ft. 7ft. MH Mod/Fast for anything 1/2oz. and havier that suspends deeper than 5ft. Both rods double w/ crankbait duty and occasional topwater. Both are graphite rods.
