  1. Just wondering if there are any car topper clubs in the Minneapolis area? Thanks Paul
  2. Hey guys and gals, I'll be in West Bloomington MN March 4-9th and looking to do some lake and pond recon, for Spring. I'll be fishing out of a 12' Jon, so those smaller bodies of water would be ideal, Smallmouth & Lagemouth being the target species. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Paul
  3. PM sent, welcome aboard Mike!

  9. I totaly agee! Just wish more of my spoiled RI friends didn't think 5 hours was a long drive. Then again, it is RI ;D You seem to have a pretty sweet deal going for yourself,NH then to NC in August, NICE! Hows the fishing down that way? I keep telling myself I'm fishing Santee Cooper in SC this year, but never developes. Maybe this season : ;D
  10. I'm looking to get some people together for a 3 day fishing/camping trip to Umbagog Lake in Errol NH. I'm thinking sometime in late August/early September. 5 Hour drive from RI, but well worth the it! This is one of the most serene places in the Northeast I've ever been. Great Smallmouth fishery, outstanding wildlife! Speies include: Landlocked salmon Lake trout (togue) Brook trout Rainbow smelt Smallmouth bass Largemouth bass Yellow perch Northern pike Chain pickerel Minnows Lake chub Golden shiner Common shinerRedbelly dace Finescale dace Fathead minnow Creek chub Fallfish (chub) Pearl dace Longnose sucker White sucker Hornpout (bullhead) Pumpkinseed sunfish Slimy sculpin Landlocked alewife I've rented a private island in the past for $34 a night and other than the wildlife, we saw only the game worden checking Licenses once the whole trip. We rented canoes and paddled out to a remote camp/island all to ourselves. You can also have them drop you w/their party barge w/all your gear and a canoe to boot, and tell them when to return to pick you up and bring you back. I'll be going one way or another, so if intersted please get in touch. Campers enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The campground has a camp store, flush and pit toilets, and coin-operated showers. Canoe, kayak, and rowboat rentals are also available. The park has a total of 69 campsites: The lakeside base area of the campground has 35 sites, 2 of which are for first-come/first-served campers. There are hook-ups for water and electricity for RVs, as well as a dump station. Three cabins are also available in the base area for weekly and nightly rentals. There are 34 remote sites generally isolated in wooded areas and accessed by boat only. Each remote site has a fireplace, picnic table, and a primitive pit toilet. These campsites are carry in/carry out - there are no trash cans or trash pick-up. The park offers transportation to the remote sites for a fee. The campground is open for reservable stays from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend. Organized youth group camping is welcome in the park. Reservations are required. http://www.nhstateparks.org/state-parks/alphabetical-order/umbagog-lake-state-park/campground-information.aspx
  11. Here is the Waiver/Entry form for all T's. I don't foresee the T's maxing out on the 10 boat limit, yet if someone shows up at the ramp w/o being preregistered, they will unfortunately have to be denied entry. Here are your options; You may print out the waiver/entry form and mail it to lock in a spot. Email or PM me and I'll put you on the list, then print out the waiver/entry form and bring it w/you. I will also have extra waiver/entry forms with me at the ramp. A signed waiver form is required for all entry's I am the witness so leave that space blank. 12. Caught on a Tru-Tungsten Tru-Life 7" Swimbait. I really gotta get one of these! Here's the story In his own words Cody describes how he caught her: I caught this nice bass during my practice for the season opening FLW Stren tournament on Lake Falcon in Zapata, (in deep south) Texas. I had been on a nice school of fish when I decided to put the old faithful flippin' stick down and try to see what other baits I could coax the bass into biting. I decided to use the 7'' True-Life Gold Tilapia Swimbait, due to the bluegill model's high catch rate on my guide trips at Lake Fork. I chose to use only two tungsten balls for the slower sink rate, rigged on 25lb florocarbon line. I paralleled the road bed's tree line in 8-14ft. On the first ten casts I had several followers, so I backed off and cast a little further to give the fish time to commit to the bait before they were so close to the boat. On the next cast and about half way to the boat my 8ft Powertackle swimbait special rod loaded up, and the fight was on. The fish was trying to jump out of the water but she was so fat she couldn't manage to get out anything over her head out. At that point I knew she was a good one, but I had no idea until I netted her on how big she really was. After snapping a few pictures she was quickly released to spawn and make more huge bass for the future anglers to enjoy. Congrats on the nice fish Cody!! Catch and Release does work! The
  13. What a great dad as well as a great gift!
  14. X2!!!!!!! Very nice for a 1st or even 10th attempt!
  15. Good deal, Welcome aboard! If you need a hand w/the lights/livewell just holler
  16. All T's are set and permitted! Bring on Spring!!!!!!!!
  17. Most of the time I texas rig because I'm using larger baits, but when using the smaller baits nose hookem or wacky rig.
  18. Great to have you aboard Anthony!
  19. Here's a video on a day that I decided to use the Slammer and baby brush hog rather than the dropshot. Needless to say I got smoked by who ever this silly looking kid is and his dropshot.
  20. Over 100 smallies caught from mid May to the 1st week of June on this set-up. Here's one of the dinks ;D
  21. I prefer worms and shad immatations over craws and grubs. My favorite being Roboworms 4" & 6" straight tails for Smallies. Though, I'll be giving their new fat version a try this season. Trick or Finesse worms also produce. In some situations a smaller bait is needed such as a 3" wacky rigged bait. All depends on the feeding habits for that day, but found the 4" and 6" work most of the time. I use the "Stand-up drop shot hooks or a size 1 or 2 Gammi wide gap. I'll also use a 1 to 3/O hook w/a full size bait like a Fluke/Zoolu or Lizard texas rigged. How high I tie the hook with this technique depends on what I'm fishing. If I'm fishing pads, I'll tie the hook @ the depth where I've seen the bass suspending under the pads, so the bait will be in their face. If I'm fishing submerged weeds, the hook and bait will be suspending just inside the top of the weeds. If I'm fishing beds(my Favorite application) I'll only tie the hook about 3" to 5" off the bottom. I haven't used the DS for suspending Smallies as of yet, purely becuase I haven't needed to. But this is an outstanding technique for Smaillies suspended in deep water. I use a 1/8 to 1/2oz weight. Lower end for suspending fish and heavier weight for weeds, grass and moving water such as rivers. When fishing suspended or spooky fish I'll go w/lighter floro or mono in the 8lb to 10lb range and 12lb test all the way up to 65lb braid, when fishing in the pads or thick stuff. Lighter line I use spinning gear and the heavier lines casting. Most of the time I don't use a drop shot weight, I use a bullet weight w/a small split ring tied at the end of the line. It comes through grass easier in addition to having less hang-ups. When the bite is tough the drop shot can be a magical producer Hope this has helped!
  22. Above is the current list of T's. T's w/asterisks are booked w/permits and or cleared through the appropriate authorities. Schedule was changed a bit. These will be held rain or shine and will not be cancelled for any reason, other than for safety purposes during extreme weather. Hoping to see some new faces as well as some fimiliar ones. Basically, I'm doing this to bring people together who share a common passion. It's about the joy of fishing, more so then the competition. Don't get me wrong, feel free to brag if you win, just keep it light hearted and fun! So everyone will know up front, all DEM rules & regulations will be followed. For the night T's all participating boats must have some sort lighting as stated in that states regulation manual. In addition, there is one main rule I will be enforcing personally, "NO LITTERING" leave no trace is my philosophy. Littering will be grounds for immediate disqualification! Also, I will most likely be getting involved in Earth Day as well, and try to get as many boats as possible to run the Blackstone River from the Central Falls Ramp and carry out as much trash as possible. This will probably fall on April 19th or 26th 2009. Anyone interested in joining in, please contact me. I'll continue updating the list w/dates and times as I recieve the information. Thanks for reading
  23. ;D I was only kidding, but thanks for the laughs ;D Your a funny MFSBTF
