Reducing Line Twist
Close the bail by hand, while seating the line on the roller. This will save you have a turn of twist per cast. You'll also be ready to set the hook immediately. When fighting a fish, avoid reeling in against the drag, each turn you the handle can add 4-6 turns of twist in that situation.

So you sent your girl in to buy them, huh? LOL.

Ski Fishing
Nice! You're on one of my spots, LOL. I have not gotten any time to chase these guys. Caught my 1st real big ones last year on Chautauqua during a bass tournament (best way to get them, LOL).

Stream Smallmouth Spinning Rod
Go lighter and longer. More rod will protecct the line, and keep constant pressure on the fish. An 8 or 9' light power rod with a moderate action would be great. I use similar gear for steelhead.

Pike Are Breaking Me
They'll have something...look in the fly dept. first. It's plastic coated tieable steel leader. 10# size is plenty. If you're targeting huge pike, then go with heavier, but we're just trying to protect your baits, not totally beef up the system.

Mine wouldn't honor the $40 off coupon. That's like $65 a reel - nice deal!

Pike Are Breaking Me
Is there a question in there? I use Cortland Toothy Critter tieable coated steel leader to deal with northerns. Bass do not care about the leader.

I had to argue with the store manager. He said reels weren't "tackle," LOL. I asked him if he wanted to be the one to make the sale, or his district manager. He chose the former.

Electricity Rant.
Imagine if there were several electric companies in your city, with competing rates, and several sets of power lines, LOL. Sometimes, a monopoly isn't a bad thing. My guess is that they have had so many customers not pay or default on the bill that they had to institute a "security deposit."

Applying Scents With A Sponge
That's what a fishing towel is for.

Applying Scents With A Sponge
Why - are you afraid to touch it? I use JJ's or Megastrike. With JJ's, you dip and dry, and pray you don't get it on your hands. Megastrike, I squeeze a dab on my finger, and smear it on the bait.

Fishin' The Fluke
Hook the bait through the nose, vertically with the point up. Any drop shot or senko hook will work.

What To Do
Yep, your child, your rules. Others don't like it, or think it's too strict, too bad. I have similar (not the same issue) battles with my own parents.

Fishin' The Fluke
Nose rig them on a finesse hook for better hookups.

Bass Seeing Bait Color
I don't think it needs simplification at all, just illustration:

Can And Want To
Almost ALL my recent notable fish have come on moving baits. Cranking anywhere from 8-12', High Power Herring shallow, or over submerged weeds, spinnerbaits through weeds, even traps banged off shallow rip rap has produced smallies in the early morning. Once I catch two or three in a vicinity, I break out the jig, and try to find the rest. I think with guys that are shore bound, it's a little different. My local ponds take some real finesse this time of year to get any action. Those fish have become well educated since spring. That combined with heavier weeds, does not make it easy.
-
Can And Want To
That's kind of backwards, but yeah, if you must catch on a moving bait, then by all means. Generally, I use a moving bait to locate fish, then a feel bait to catch the largest fish. Some days, I may not change to a feel bait at all.
-
Can And Want To
It's not the time of year to force feed the fish. Spring and Fall are better for that.

Tried Flipping With Flouro.
I've flip with 20-30# Seaguar, I wouldn't say that's too heavy at all, especially if abrasion is your main concern. You have to pretreat it with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. It also help to give a spritz or two during the day.
