  1. This is probably why HB is still using the old 9-pin tech. I recall building my own slot car timing system, and it was really easy to build a DOS program using photoreceptors under the track hooked to the computer through a serial cable. That was a LONG time ago, LOL.
  2. I have two IBMS, a Toshiba, and an HP laptop, and NONE have them. There might be one on my Alienware desktop, that has an MSI mainboard, and they have a TON of ports, lOL. My Dell tower here at work actually has two seriels - go figure.
  3. Generally speaking, if you asked which was the most important to catching a fish, the answers would tilt toward the rod. But when it comes to expense, the reel always comes out on top. Look at a matched "combo." A Zillion reel retails at $260, but the Zillion rods are about $200. As long as you get a reel in the $150-$200 price range, you're probably fine. For rods, somewhere around the same is where the value is as well.
  4. I have the same issue with my Glucose meter - a state of the art meter, BTW. The cable for the computer is a 1/8" jack to serial. Then I have the seriel to USB adapter. Stupid, I know. At least my insulin pump is wireless USB, LOL.
  5. Dude, serieal ports were phased out in the late 90s. :
  6. Have your parents take you to the doc. :
  7. Just go to a computer store and buy one. Shouldn't be more than $15.
  8. Maybe. I know that's the "book." I wish my fish studied that book more often, though.
  9. LMAO.....this guy is full of it.
  10. hate to rehash old news but that fish was UN-INTENTIONALLY foul hooked , if Jed would of kept it , it would of been the world record , IGFA would have allowed a fish caught that way , but as it went down in history , he let it go BTW , i just wanted to post this so people don't get the wrong idea that this fish was hooked and caught in a non sporting way . i'm pretty sure that we all have at sometime or another swung on a jig fish and un-intentionally hooked outside of the mouth , am i right ??? No, it would not have been legal. Foul hooked fish in CA must be immediately released, and do not count. IGFA defers to local governing bodies.
  11. If its setup for racing, that's what it sounds like. Its amazing in person. I'm lucky enough to be a few hours from Watkin's Glen. If you have the opportunity, check out some sports car races.
  12. http://www.copyright.gov/title17/ No.
  13. Good question. I've always wondered not whether they were conditioned, but how long they were conditioned. On northern lakes, most bass have 2-3 months of ice over to forget about all the lures they saw. I wonder if this is a massive northern "reset."
  14. Good stuff slonezp. Maybe that, and that they didn't end up with a full belly.
  15. BTW, if you're looking to make a print of a desktop image from the web......mad copyright infringement. Totally illegal.
  16. You're cutting it close for a 5x7 print. Might be able to stretch the data for an 8x10. You want at least 90ppi (pixels per inch) for a poster, and 140 ppi for quality print. You can always call a good lab, and see what they can do.
  17. You can make it any size you want. Its all about viewing distance.
  18. He's already been a daddy for years, its his third child, and 1st boy. Congrats Mike!
  19. How is that more challenging? 9 pounder all day. Here's two sixers (6-8 and 6-0) caught within two hours. Part of a 20+ lb. sack for the day.
  20. CX is junk. CXX is where its at.
  21. Stuff like that sucks, but its a fact of life. In high school, I had to bow out a spot in a working band because of bad grades. Both working as a professional musician and school would be great learning experiences. I'm glad I quit. There were other bands later, and music doesn't pay my bills now.
  22. I agree, but he's talking about lures that inherently twist the line. The only good way to manage that is a swivel. You want to see twist? Side-spin casting a centrepin will wreck a spool in minutes, without swivels. I use two in my terminal rig - one to mange the twist from the cast, and another to manage the leader twisting in current.
  23. Glenn, I believe that is someone's "driveway."
