Some beautiful work there. Some tough shooting conditions out there.

Lunkerville: "The Terminator" NOW PLAYING
This is a pretty good episode. For those that don't know, many of us local NY anglers have watched Noah grow up into a decent young man, and a heck of a fisherman.

Rapala DT Flat Cranks - Discontinued??
When they come out with a winner, its the kiss of death for that product. They really tick me off with this...I'm at the point now that I flat refuse to buy their baits.

9/11 -Oneida: Big Al Steps Up to the Plate, And....
Thanks guys. The reel is a "poor man's SOl," a Daiwa Capricorn XTC 1500. A $50 Dick's special. Amazing reel, been to the bottom of nore than one Finger Lake, launched out of a boat on the road, and it still keeps spinning. The rod is a Kistler Drop Shot Special, from the Graphite Plus series, another $50 dollar clearance toy. This trip was badly needed. Big Al just started jr. high, and there'sbeen some chaos around the house. A good day was what the dr. ordered.

9/11 -Oneida: Big Al Steps Up to the Plate, And....
Catches a Grand Slam! I drove out to meet up with CASTMASTER, and drop off some reels. He couldn't fish, but he called Sr. up, and we hooked the boat up to my truck, and headed for Oneida, South Shores ramp for a short afternoon trip. My son, Big Al along with Sr. and I headed out to the "H's" but nothing was going on. Several boats were there,no one catching. So we headed to one of Sr.'s spots, and where we fished in the spring two years ago, and Sr. and I put on a clinic on how not to fish wake baits and topwaters, LOL. Al, meanwhile had a monster pickerel on, that chewed its way to freedom, boat side. Eventually, I hooked a pickerel, shaking it off boatside. Later Sr. caught a few more smallies, still waking. Big Al was getting bored, and I announced that it was one hour left to fish, He grabbed the Senko rod, and first cast after his "nap" bangs a really nice google eye. I get a pic, he releases the fish, and whammo, he's got another fish on. This time a smallie, tons of leaps, and runs into the weeds, and we finally get it in the net. Smiles, high fives, and pictures. Now, I'm ready to catch, but wait, its Al, with another fish on! This time a nice largemouth that Sr. swore was a smallmouth by the way it jumped. "Look how green that smallmouth is!" LOL. Tons of high fives. Best trip so far this year. The last hour was crazy. While I had fish slapping at my Sammies and Sr. getting short strikes on the wakebait, Al took over, and handled the catching. Awesome evening. Thanks Jim, and Jim Sr. Some pics:

Great Weekend on the Juniata!
Nah, you didn't know. Really, I'd rather be fishing. She'd want me fishing, too.
-
question about clearing backlash
They only thing to watch out for is damaging the line. Fluorocarbon doesn't fair well to this treatment.

Great Weekend on the Juniata!
I can't say whether one is better than the other, mine has suffered a bit of "oil canning," but its been dragged, dropped, thrown, kicked, and beaten up for three years and still floats. Yeah, the 25th is the one year anniversary of my grandmother's passing, and my grandfather wants the family together to honor her. I can't really get out of that one....have to be there.

Friday is Falls Day:

Sun Angle
In shallow water, You don't want the shadow to arrive before the bait. In deeper, clear water, the shadow of the boat can shake up a spot. Its not always bad, but its something to be aware of.

Great Weekend on the Juniata!
Looking not too good for the 25th trip for me. As for other "big boy" boats to ccheck out... Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game (I have one) Freedomhawk 14 (I have one) Feel Free Moken 13 (not really a stander, but a GREAT fishing boat) WS Commander 140 (haven't seen one in the flesh, but Jeff Suber posted pics of his big butt standing in one, LOL) Malibu makes one that is 14 and easily standable Hobie Pro Angler (that is if you still consider a 180 lb. vessel a "kayak")

The bullet jig
Looks REAL good to me. I use something very similar, in a 1 oz. size. The only difference, it has a very short, hand tied, poofball trailer.

What have you purchased recently????? 2010
I pretty much just t-rig them. If I want a fixed weight, I'll just peg it.

x2. For a dollar they blow McDonalds and Wendys out of the water! They're also more filling than the competitors and arent super greasy. Just a little greasy. Apparently this move to market them by corporate was the cause of the change in ownership. Buck Doubles cost a bit more than a dollar to expedite. You're basically getting a double cheeseburger, minus one slice of cheese and $.29. Talk about tight margins, LOL.

You're going to like those Rage Craws. Don't limit yourself to fishing them as drop baits, they work great as a swimming option, and they're also great crept slowly over rocks.
