  1. That's true, but also VERY boring. Just because good meat can stand on it's own doesn't mean it has to.
  2. Mustard sounds like a good call. I might try that next time.
  3. I don't know, I'm still using my Deep South telescoping pool cue. It replaced the Kistler I broke over a decade ago.
  4. Rage craw and Denny craw are my favorites. I use an awful lot of chunks as well.
  5. With an XXXH flipping stick, actually, yes. It's killer.
  6. You can flip with any rod of your choosing, no special gear is required to make a flip cast. I would not attempt to toss a bait in anything other than fairly sparse cover with a medium power rod.
  7. I do not typically use a trailer with hair jigs since a trailer interferes with natural movement.
  8. Not really. I fish several other brands as well.
  9. Homemade tarter sauce: mayo, dill relish, dill weed, onion and garlic powder, touch of red pepper powder.
  10. If you were hammering screws all day, and noticed that someone next to you was using a screwdriver, would you continue to figure it out yourself?
  11. Run what you brung! Any M/F stick you already have, with non braid will work. If you decide you like cranking, then get a good stick.
  12. I used to teach kayak fishing. If the students weren't catching fish based on copying me, then I suppose I wasn't very good in their eyes. I'm cool with others playing monkey see-monkey do, or following the bent rod pattern. I'm not even sure I'm really all that upset if they get too close. It just causes me to gather more intel somewhere else. In a tournament, anyone that follows my success is doing just that: following. They'll follow me on the leader board, regardless of whether I'm on top or not.
  13. Being that close to the ocean, there has to be more than a few custom boat upholstery shops.
  14. Say it with me: AL - DEB - er - on. ? It's named after a star in the Taurus constellation. I've owned one, It's a fine reel. Worth is really subjective. If you have the means and want it, it's worth it. It doesn't do anything a Curado can't do, but it's nicer.
  15. If you like the other offerings from Pure Fishing (Abu, Pflueger, Mitchell, etc.) then you'll like these.
  16. There was a member from years ago that went by Masshole Mike
  17. Glad they replaced the damaged goods, but this is a silo. They are not communicating with fulfillment. All this results in paying more, eventually. It's wasteful.
  18. A different reel can totally change the feel. It isn't necessarily about weight, either. Some pairings just feel better on my hands.
  19. Boring story: It's my old NT login from work: jfrancho, made with your first initial, and last name, limited to 8 characters. At some point, our software didn't allow you to use the same handle as your login, so I capitalized the letters, and added a space: J Francho. My name is John Franchot. The T at the is not actually silent, though I respond to "Frank-O," even though it's actually pronounced using common rules of English. I kind of like the nick name version. The name is an Ellis Island victim of Polish origin. I think it was originally spelled Franczuit, or something similar.
  20. You have 9 days to catch a bigger one
  21. I've said it. For ponds that sunfish make up part of the diet, big blue gill baits have worked well for me.
  22. If he likes your gear, get a duplicate of what he borrows the most. Then maybe something you'd like for yourself. I think I'd save the rest of the budget for baits, line, and accessories.
  23. If scoring by the whole inch, I'd give it a 39" lacking any reference for the front, the open mouth, and pinched tail. Most of the online tournaments I've judged required a regulation bump board, closed mouth, and spread tail. To me, it's a 40" fish all day. Nice job!
