  1. We can't get political here. I know, it's difficult not to. We can at least commiserate.
  2. I thought those were for summoning the dead?
  3. When I was out of work, the American Diabetes Association helped me with getting the insulin and supplies I needed.
  4. I ask the same thing about Type 1 diabetics, which I am. The cost is insane. I hit my out of pocket max back in April. My FSA was empty by February. Co-pays and fees quadrupled this year.
  5. Roll tears.
  6. The one you can tie well. I use an Alberto, but I have used a triple surgeons in a pinch.
  7. I friend of mine has pulled sixers out the Larry fishing for northern pike.
  8. I love the spinnerbaits. Get the wire tied version. The skirts last forever.
  9. I had Siebert Outdoors make me a little, puffball jig with a trailer made of living rubber. Worked great without a trailer. I bet Mike would make you the same thing if you ask. They were no more than his regular jigs.
  10. Don't know much about Schroon Lake. I fished the river a couple falls ago, and caught plenty of smallmouth and some monster blue gills. I'm thinking short of down riggers and trolling gear, you could use a heavy jigging spoon, if you were to locate lakers on the graph. On Canadice Lake (deep and clear), we were able to hook up with a few lakers trolling deep diving crankbaits. Good luck!
  11. I use straight fluoro when fishing finesse baits like a Ned. I go woth 6# Tatsu, so I'd think any 6-8# line would work for you. I have a one (of six) DS setup that I use in light weeds that has 15# braid, and usually an 8# leader that works well.
  12. I use braid all the time without as well, but I will add a leader if I think it will make a difference, or I don't want all that strength from braid, but want all the other characteristics, like no stretch, limp line. One example would be for fishing jigs in trees. Adding a leader, say 10# fluoro to 50# braid, for fishing jigs in lay downs makes sense. If I get hung up, I can break off without too much commotion. The bonus is being able to feel the connection knot when your line is draped over a branch. If I know I have a 4' leader, when I feel the knot, I about when the jig will hit the branch and I can use more finesse to get it through.
  13. You need a crimper for over 60#.
  14. Not off topic. Dumb cocktail blues will get you every time!
  15. The responses here are hilarious. @BassBlowup354 as you can see, most reels can throw any line, within reason. You'll be fine with 12-20# fluoro. 2# or 100# would not work so well.
  16. Not mine. Though, the Great Lakes are kind of like an ocean. But you could say the same about stripers as well. Fun fact, back when they considered a solution for all the alewife in the GL, stripers were one of the species considered. I almost wish they went that way.
  17. I've had steelhead do that. It's very disappointing.
  18. That's an understatement. Never caught a land locked, but I have caught many a king and coho...no smallie, no matter how big compares.
  19. Are we talking bass or time signatures likely used in Rush songs?
  20. If it's a general purpose rod, I spool up with 15# Invisx. That would be around 20 or so set ups that currently own, and they are are various medium, medium heavy, heavy, fast or x-fast rods. My drop shot rods all have 6# Tatsu on them, except one that has 15# braid 8# Blue Label leader. My deep cranking rods have 10# Tatsu. Any jig rods that I use in heavy weeds have 50# braid. My topwater/jerkbait rod has 30# Tuf-Line Supercast. My swimbait rods have 20# CXX. The "specialized" rigs listed comprise a much smaller set of tools. If I don't need anything special on a rod, then I'll use 15# Invisx. That better?
  21. We're done here. Plenty of resources for spools have been listed.
  22. Cortland Toothy Critter leader has worked for me. I've also use very heavy saltwater fluoro leaders.
  23. ? Check out Jim K's underwater footage. Here's a good one:
