  1. My friend is part of a crew that surfs Lake Ontario, here on the south shore. Thy're nuts. Yes, started up again two years ago. It's great exercise.
  2. Outstanding examples of foolery on the ice, though I think in the Erie case, it had to do with a fissure letting go, and not that it wasn't deemed "safe ice." Clearly, no ice is really safe.
  3. Decide which five you're going to keep, no culling? Doesn't sound too great.
  4. Last two were pretty shallow. Pulled it out with a big tow truck. That's cheap compared to the fines from EPA, DEC, and various other government organizations.
  5. I'd rather look at average bass caught by top contenders, say top 20. What it takes to win will be a greater difference.
  6. Every couple of years, someone's truck falls through the ice on Irondequoit Bay, up here.
  7. Quantity over size is rewarded. Marty Robinson of Group B is an example.
  8. Is that true? Average bass weight would be based on each angler's top five in other tours, not average bass caught. Or just count the top five, but I guess that isn't what this all about.
  9. Has anyone run the numbers to see how a 5 best limit would stack the competitors?
  10. Man, glad to hear this. Sounds like you're gonna recover. Take it easy.
  11. I think you'd want to factor in water clarity, depth, and cloud cover into account when talking about the moon.
  12. New deck. Grip tape is on point.
  13. I use 3/8 all the way up to 1.5 oz. home made Jika Punch rigs using a pencil trolling weight. How heavy depends on how thick the cover is, and how far I want the bait to penetrate. Sometimes you have do a bit of tinkering.
  14. Keep it civil guys. Off topic posts removed.
  15. You don't get a body like mine eating salads.
  16. Depends on the quality of aluminum and the reel. I have aluminum gears in reels that are nearly 20 years old, and they work as well as new.
  17. Naphtha leaves more residue than pure acetone. Pure acetone can be found at beauty supply stores. Do not soak anything plastic in acetone or other solvents. There are less aggressive degreasers like Perfect Solution, Crud Cutter, or plain old Dawn that won't harm non metal parts.
  18. I think both are acceptable. Speel check doesn't like vortices, though.
  19. Ironically, global warming is what causes these polar vortexes.
  20. It is a little less snaggy, but if you hang a single hook, chances are you aren't getting it back. I just find they work better for trout.
  21. I was referring to pull start only. I've been in enough rental tin cans, and they all start with a gentle tug.
  22. I use a single hook for trout fishing. The mod isn't necessary for bass, though you can try it. It doesn't affect hook ups.
  23. I'm not sure, I just grab whatever fits.
  24. In just about every other culture, pink is masculine.
  25. The swivel mitigates line twist.
