  1. To be basic Kidding. I'm more interested how these things take off, and become viral.
  2. It's the law, it's not about insisting, or taking advice, or safety first. It is the law. The US Coast Guard mandates that any child in a boat that's under way, wear a PFD. Some states go even further. Under way, means not moored. Drifting, trolling motor...same as under way.
  3. Roboworms have salt only in the head portion, while the tail floats. That's what makes them a good DS or shakey head bait. They also float to the top after the salt dissolves. I guess I don't pay attention to all the marketing.
  4. Well, seeing as 90% of baits have it, it doesn't bug them. I really never heard that saying, though. Salt just makes them sink. It's also added to the bags of some baits to keep them from sticking together. Salt is cheap.
  5. Shimano Star Grease or Cal's Drag Grease both work well.
  6. It's really a whatever works. I have a few lefty reels on rods that I know I'll be pitching with. But I can still pitch with a righty, with same style and results Catt and Glenn describe. Do something, anything, and get comfortable with it enough that you forget about the cast, and concentrate on the bite.
  7. Click the image link to the right, in the sponsors list. Third from the bottom.
  8. My girlfriend (HR Director) works at a lithium battery R&D plant. Many manufacturers use their safer electrolyte fill solution. Even some operations from China are moving to the safer solution. I think the cost is a little high for the average angler, but there are a few Elite pros benefiting from the reduced weight. Also, many kayak anglers are using lithium powered Torqueedo motors. See the electrolyte vids here: http://www.nohms.com/ Torqeedo: https://www.torqeedo.com/us/en-us
  9. Last weeks news. This is a fishing forum. We come here to get away from this stuff.
  10. What's an old wive's tale? It actually has a function. It adds density to the plastic, altering the sink rate. Plastisol alone floats. You can ask any bait maker, and they'll tell you the same.
  11. I've caught more fish the past couple years with a Popmax than all other baits combined. It's pricey, but versatile. You can quietly pop it, create a ruckus, or walk it.
  12. There's plenty of guys on here that do coastal fishing, but yes you won't get as much as on a saltwater board.
  13. You lower the price. That's why it isn't getting any attention.
  14. Pedal drive can be removed easily. They can't go in until you have enough water depth to accommodate the drive. TM and Micro Pole setups, it totally depends on the mounting system you go with. The pole itself is easily removed from the deployment unit.
  15. I ended up picking a high end, and very light weight jig rod as my frog rod. Weight *IS* important to me, as I like to walk my frogs, and heavy, unbalanced gear can wear you out. It doesn't have to this actual rod, but something similar. I explain what and why here: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/primmus-reel-dhc-7-rod-review.html
  16. Stability has little to do with width, and more to do with hull design. Not a fan of Jackson's stability. It seems pretty stable, until it isn't, and then it's over. Never been in an OTP, but seen them in person, and they seem like a lot of extra weight for no good reason. The most stable kayaks I've been in are my Commander and the old Prowler Big Game from OK. Teaching a kayak fishing class has allowed me to get some seat time in a bunch of boats. You don't need to go up to 100 lbs. for a stable, safe ride. I suggest some seat time before you purchase. Any good shop should be able to do that for you.
  17. The master!
  18. Abrasion... Nothing holds up the the zebes and quagga mussels we have up here. That's why we're all using a drop shot. I do have a story about a bass wrapping around a zebe encrusted metal dock piling. 15# Tatsu held up, though it was pretty ugly. I attribute that to the larger diameter than anything else.
  19. I do not back fill. I don't like a knot buried in there, and since fluorocarbon is very durable, I get 2-4 seasons out of a spool, and I can end up getting pretty low on the spool from retying before I refill the spool.
  20. My #1 tip: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot-bedding-bass.html
  21. You got it up there. I use https://postimages.org/ And paste the the direct link in the reply box here. That definitely looks like a spawning fish. Nice one, too.
  22. Tatsu is pretty darn close, it's not low stretch. 6# size is my choice for ML and M tackle. Works for me Here's an Erie smallie:
