  1. I don't think I've ever put any thought into having a "go to" weight. I just fish.

  3. T-rigged Lucky rabbit's foot
  4. Nope, keep calling until you get a person that will help. If the person on the other end can't help you, ask for their manager. It's a call center. There will be two layers of technician, a team lead, and a boss. Possibly another boss, depending on how big. Keep escalating.
  5. 80s today. Was snowing last Monday. As I predicted, no spring.
  6. Why would you call a boat yard, and not MK themselves? 800.227.6433
  7. Why are we digging up five year old threads?
  8. Line won't matter if you have an uneducated thumb.

  10. Titanium weakens with no sign of fatigue, then snaps. Steel, it's easy to see when it's close to failure.
  11. I have a few pairs in varying darkness from that $20 rack. I also have a very nice pair of Maui Jim offshore sunglasses. They are VERY nice. Whether you want to upwards of $250 is up to you. The main thing is to get the right shade and make sure they're polarized.
  12. Any old small plastic worm and a drop shot rig.
  13. I know you're poking fun, but these are NY fish, lol. My largest LMB (7-2)came on a 12" worm. Maybe you should be using a worm.
  14. Of course it does. It's twist that uncoils when you make the cast. Why do it any other way? You can test the theory using an extension cord or hose.
  15. You don't. I wouldn't put anything higher than 6# line on a 1000 series spool. And as far as spooling up, do it the way the directions for your reel show:
  16. Marine chargers are water proof.
  17. There's a few good tie-able coated leaders out there that work with a standard knots we all use. I use Cortland Toothy Critter in 20# size. You can usually find in the fly fishing area.
  18. I don't think I can tie activity to whether it's cloudy or sunny, or a color preference. Some days they like the darker colors, others the lighter green or silver colors. I will say that I choose the gold Hopkin's Shorty spoon on cloudy days more often then the silver.
  19. I removed the rod tubes in my Bullet. I can hold a ton more rods.
  20. Hmmm. My 2nd largest LMB (7-1) came on a 4" Flick Shake worm and 1/16 oz. wacky jig. Personal best smallmouth (5-12) on a drop shot 4" worm. I suggest that location , not lure size is why smaller fish are caught.
  21. Search for the Ned Rig thread, and you'll see it's alive, and extremely complicated. It's definitely alive around here. I Have four spinning rigs for drop shot alone. I do not go higher than 6# fluoro. Also, there's "finessing" a 3/4 oz. jig through a laydown, and there's throwing a 1/4 oz "finesse" jig into a laydown. I'm not really sure what's finesse anymore, either. Good Topic.
  22. Early spring northerns, or northerns from cooler waters are delicious, not gamey at all, and if you know how to fillet them, no bones. I use a five fillet method. It's on YouTube. The carcass is used to make fish stock. Up here, we call pike "poor man's shrimp." Sometimes, I don't even fillet them, just gut them, fill with sliced lemon and herbs, wrap in tin foil and cook them on the grill. Then just pick the meat off the bones and dip in drawn butter. It's a white meat, not quite as flaky as walleye, and despite pike being the slimiest smelliest, most rotten attitude fiswh in the lake, the meat is very good.
  23. Having owned both deep-v and mod-v hulls I'll offer this. On flat water, while fishing, a mod-v is more stable. A deep-v will ride smoother in waves when running. Any boat hull type will be unsettled if a large wake hits the boat broad side.
