  1. Bottom line....whether it's "good" or "bad" is completely subjective. I've given up on specific brand recommendations, unless the product is exceptional at a certain application. Almost any line works fine as a leader, because nearly always, a heavier diameter is used than necessary.
  2. I'm struggling with the comments above. It's better than fluoro, but it's not? ^^^This, right here.^^^
  3. Why not just use a lighter leader below the float? We do this float fishing for steelhead. Run a 10# mainline, and a 4# leader. Then you only lose the hook and leader, not the expensive float. A crappy, weak knot is unpredictable. I wouldn't want that. I think the best plan is to step up on the mainline, and step down on the leader. Well, maybe have them not cast too deep in the pads as well, lol. Good luck!
  4. I've run 50# braid on a 4000 series spinning rod without any issue.
  5. The hardest part is learning what cadence of twitches work best for each different bait. Otherwise, it's pretty much my favorite way to fish. Watch as many Youtube videos as you can to see how people work the baits.
  6. That will be fine. Don't worry about the stretch not giving you good hooksets. Use sharp hooks.
  7. My reels all fit my hand, and match my shoes.
  8. Yakattack makes some of the better mounts available: http://www.yakattack.us/by-application/camera-mounting/
  9. Braid would be good for holllow body frog/rat type baits, but you'd use something like 50# and tie direct. The leader and braid isn't a bad idea, and in fact I use this on a spinning setup for smaller, light jerkbaits. For regular topwaters, like walking baits, or poppers, it's easier just use a good mono. If you go with braid, you generally want to use a bit lighter power, and slower action rod, to act as a shock absorber that compensates for zero stretch line. The problem is, you sacrifice a bit of feel and bait control.
  10. I generally prefer a bright color for line watching. Probably doesn't matter for as topwater setup, though I question why you want to use braid. It's not ideal, in my experience.
  11. I use a 6'2" Medium/X-Fast taper rod, with a short rear grip. 10 or 12# mono for line.
  12. I use almost no spool tension, and lots of brake.
  13. You don't. Why does it matter? You only see them if you click on the bell icon.
  14. If it's going to be hot, all the fish will be very deep, unless there is some very cold water inlet from a creek or something.
  15. Pretty sure JJ himself told me methiolate was southern for pink.
  16. I have to be able to test drive a boat, and have a mechanical inspection done before paying a single penny to the seller.
  17. Well, this is my "lucky fishing hat"...
  18. Why limit it to eye tracking? Mind control is where it's at. You tell the fish when and where to bite.
  19. That looks like a Raymarine DI TD.
  20. I like SI for cruising around, and looking for "something interesting," and then use DI to further define that interesting thing. FOr suspended fish, it helps stay on them, but I prefer regular sonar when fishing over them.
  21. You've been talking to my ex.
  22. Pink is a masculine color in EVERY other country, lol. I'll stick with my Dickies' Shorts.
  23. I'm only 5-6, but I run 32" inseam. Problem is, I run a 29-31" waist. Good luck finding ANYTHING that truly fits right. It gets better, if I fatten up.
  24. Are they lucky bearings? I'll take all the help I can get!
